"David was thirty years old when he became king, and he reigned forty years." (2 samuel 5:4) There is a interesting story about his in 1Kings1 "1Now King David was old and advanced in years, and though they covered him with blankets, he could not get warm. 2So his servants said to him, “Let us search for a young virgin for our lord the king, to attend to him and care for him and lie by his side to keep him warm.”
Kabbalah is known as the oral tradition even though it is said to be recorded now. Some say this goes back to Moses, some say the oral tradition goes back to Abraham and some say this goes back to Adam. The hasidic seem to be the keepers of that tradition right now. They have some of their teaching on YouTube. I have been learning the hebrew language from them. The letters actually have a symbolic meaning. WE can understand the meaning of a word by doing a study on the letters that make up that word. For example if you were to study the word "beginning" in the Bible we see that the Son of God (Ben) was given as a grain offering so that Heaven and Earth could be united. As it is Heaven and Earth are divided. The word and is actually the more important word in this sentence. It is interesting to understand and study the Ancient Hebrew they used back before the tower of Babel when the language was confused.
The current flu going around, besides the coronavirus has already killed over 8000 in the US, mostly elderly and those in poor health. Compared to this, the corona virus has resulted in relatively few deaths. The media has hyped this up and has caused massive unnecessary disruption in everyday life. Yeah, let's just shut down the entire country. Once the wall is in place the US can be a giant containment zone, no one gets in or out.

I was hoping you'd expound on Kabbalah as pertains to Midrash. How "Drash" is the third level of Torah. (this all pertaining to Adam and king David)

It is interesting .... 60 million had H1N1 in the USA and 12,000 people died.
There was some alarm but certainly not like this?
I worry about the actual real agenda behind this.
I’m at Kroger right now and half the shelves are empty. No water, canned goods, bread or paper products. Frozen food and meats are mostly empty to.
This is the best Christian response to the COVID-19 virus that I have heard. And the message is not only for now, but for always.
Yep, this got wayyyy off topic as someone said. Lol. It happens. But it would be nice if the other topics could be moved to a thread of their own for sake of those seeking hope within the current concern (whether life threatening or simply overblown).
I'll clarify one thing before moving on.
I'm a guy. (Male. Man. Manly man. Man among men. Etc. Lol)
My parents chose a rare name that to me is pretty much gender neutral. I hated that fact at first. But I realized it was an asset when the Lord had me ministering to a woman who had been sexually abused.
After she shared some of her story and we had worked through a good portion of her fears she said "I'm so glad to have found a godly woman like you to talk to, because I could never have been this open with a man."
Well, that thought hadn't occurred to me so I had to explain that I was thankful that she was feeling better but felt she needed to be aware that yes, indeed, I was a man...and that we're not all bad. Since that time I don't get worked up if people mistake my typing as potentially being from a female. (They're not all bad either, lol)
My softer wording comes from a lot of soul searching and realizing that wisdom and knowledge are often trumped by a single word of love and compassion.
Further, my employment is in the field of substance abuse treatment so I've faced several types of personalities and it seems that sarcasm, holier-than-thou, and you-better-listen are ineffective on all of them.

Yes, God is the only hope in this situation. It is starting to get bad. There has just been a man in KY who refused to self isolate and is being forced to by police. I've never heard of anything like this before. The way government is handling this virus is very odd and unprecedented. I wonder what else could happen in this situation. Everything is shutting down, food and supplies are being hoarded by some. We all need to be praying right now.

I worry about the actual real agenda behind this.
Might take heat for this, but this is an election year......
I attended a church that had a sunday school program that really taught the truth of the Bible to the students at their level. The day would come when they would graduate from the program and go into the sanctuary and begin to learn from the pastor there. This is the concept of the Midrash, to cross over and leave a literal understanding behind as we being to understand the meaning of the Bible stories and what they represent.
For the Hebrews this means to cross over the river. Abraham crossed over the Euphrates River to claim the land. When the Children of Israel left Egypt they spent 40 years in the wilderness and then they crossed over the Jordan river to enter into the land that God promised them. They would enter into a deeper understanding of God.
When I had been a christian for 40 years I began to study Hebrew to enter into a deeper understanding then what I had been able to understand before that point in time.
The Hebrew word for "beginning",,,,I know what it is but what did they tell you it is and it's meaning?
Here's an interesting tidbit that i ask you to consider... Who had the best/greatest teachers in the OT? And where did those best teachers get their teachings...from even better teachers...or directly from God. And further, which is more readily available..better teachers...or God.
If you really look at where the best doctrine, understanding, learning, faith, health, hope, etc comes from, there is actually little need to rely on man. The best teachers didn't get their doctrine from man, they sought it (and received) directly from God.
Paul (who used to be Saul) is my favorite example of this. He had supposedly the best teachers within his reach. All, or almost all, of the apostles were still alive. But Paul gives us an example of how to receive the purest teaching. He forsook the idea of seeking out the apostles, and instead sought out God for himself, going into Arabia (a wilderness) for 3 years. Then when he came back, he didn't have a testimony of "I graduated top of my class at XYZ Seminary". He came back with the testimony of "I didn't get my doctrine from man, I got it straight from God" (paraphrased). As is recorded in Galatians 1. :

[18] Then after three years I went up to Jerusalem to see Peter, and abode with him fifteen days. [19] But other of the apostles saw I none, save James the Lord's brother.

But I certify you, brethren, that the gospel which was preached of me is not after man. [12] For I neither received it of man, neither was I taught it, but by the revelation of Jesus Christ.
The reason most of us still rely so heavily upon man is that few turn to God, asking to be taught directly. My guess as to why that is, is because most of us consider ourselves unworthy....forgetting that Jesus is willing to make us worthy through faith in him.
One good thing about a potential crisis such as coronavirus is that, when facing a threat, some will cast off their feelings of unworthiness and will gather the courage to go directly to Jesus saying "If I can just reach him, He'll heal me, teach me, help my situation" like the woman with the issue of blood, in Mark 5:25-29 (and others). What he did for her with a physical healing, he's willing to do doctrinally for those who are willing to seek him until they find. And that while the multitude goes on about their own business.
One thing I might add in consideration of coronavirus is that if you want to seek God, you may need to start before it gets here.

Of course the best teacher was Moses. But I assume you mean other than Moses. I would say the best is David. I am sure Paul would say the same. David loved God, and David understood that God wanted the best for him. We are told that David was a man after the Heart of God. He wanted to know God's love for us.
We learn a lot from the prophets but most of what we learn are from visions that they had. Things that God showed them. We are told that they did have good teachers. Only there was more of an oral tradition. Also God does not preserve the books they studied from. Look at Bishop Ussher from over 500 years ago. There were lot of books available for him to study in his day that are not available to us today. We do not need them because we have his book that contains all of that information.
This has to do with holiness and sanctification. People do not want to be pure before God. Then want someone to intercede for them: "18When all the people witnessed the thunder and lightning, the sounding of the ram’s horn, and the mountain enveloped in smoke, they trembled and stood at a distance. 19“Speak to us yourself and we will listen,” they said to Moses. “But do not let God speak to us, or we will die.” (Exodus 20) This is why we are called to be priests and kings before God. To intercede for those who want to stand at a distance in the outer court.
This is the first passover where we have a real plague. My wife works in a nursing home in assisted living and they are not allowed to go to the cafeteria. They have to eat in their room. I am going to end up with a skinny wife running that food back and forth for them. But the thing is they need to put the Blood of Jesus on the door post. Then the plague will pass over and no one will be harmed or injured. There are a lot of christians were she is at, but a lot of nursing homes are not like that. The one in Washington was in trouble because they were not prepared to keep the plague outside.

He was a good teacher. Was that because he had good teachers? (I don't think so) Or was it because he spent a lot of time with God, away from the people, getting his information straight from the source? (<--that's what I'm going with)People should really reconsider their declaration of having "a personal relationship with Jesus" if they are afraid to let him talk to them.
If people will go to God...get alone with God...pour out our hearts to God...and tarry in his presence...allowing him time to speak...then more would understand that the living (acting, answering, moving, speaking, loving on his people) God of the Old Testament is still the living God in the New Testament... And in Jesus we're not approaching a rock that can't be touched, but rather a loving and faithful high priest who will intercede for us, giving us his Spirit that will further intercede for us.
BTW, your post about our duties as kings and priests is duly noted.

Although I don't particularly understand how #5 or #6 are particularly obvious, I very much appreciate your post. There is a lot of value to be gained through your points in 1-3. I specifically say those 3 because those have to do with our own behaviors and trusts, rather than what someone else is/isn't doing.
