I remember sitting in the doctor's office waiting room during the 60s and getting nauseous from cigarette and even cigar smoke. Smoking was allowed everywhere except where it could cause an explosion.
Smokers and junkies are not the same thing.

The great fall-off of smoking just about everywhere was in the 1990's, by 95 people in Chicago were not smoking in most public places. I would imagine it was the same in other large cities.

smoking was banned in restaurants and clubs in the 90s which was a relief for me as a non smoker, even if you sat in the non smoking section, you still came out smelling like an ashtray.

the ironic thing was most nurses smoked and nursing students, and we had to ban them, from smoking outside the library so there was a law put in they werent allowed to hang out under the eaves as the smoke would blow through the windows and air vents.

I was a bit of a hippie loved dressing in hippie clothes...thought I was cool
I'm now 73 still don't really dress my age

Lol...I just had the patchwork skirts, army type overalls. Big earrings, boots not to forget karma perfume which I still wear at times. Those were the days my friend..I thought they'd never end

We'd sing and dance...forever and a day. I bought that on a 45 when it came out! On the Apple label.

We are on the road...to our home...in the New Jerusalem! It's gonna be a gas! Lol

According to a Poll carried out recently most people said that the 1980s were their favorite decade
because it was the last one to be completely woke free

Just previous to the Hippie-Freak craze I recall the Beatnik movement also. Here below is a clip of Sachmo sining the title song of the move.

Here also is just a song explainging how many viewed the Beat Generation.

Every seven to ten years there has been a new "moda" for the youth in control of the moment.
Hipppies are just one of the number...........

I didnt really like the 80s it was too smarmy and greedy
The 90s were a bit paranoid but there everyone was looking forward to the millenium
when the millenium got here, and the world hadnt blown up, people were over it.

hipsters had their brief moment in the sun, and dot com entrepeuners
but today it is hard to generalise what the youth want. Those whove survived are probably worried about their aging hippie parents and the yuppies who kinda stuffed everything up...they cant undo the damage and have to pay for it all

I think the big thing is for women over 40 in particular, caring for their elderly parents.

Bills like euthansasia have been passed...whether for good or ill, we have to look after them somehow despite everything. I find it sad because that boomer generation got the lions share and the younger generations are missing out on their own lives, They can barely start them. Boomers always got everything simply cos they were the majority.

Todays youth network on tik tok and insta, they want to have fun and sometimes the only way they can anymore is to post pretty pictures and make video recordings. Cos if they seriously thought about the real issues, it would just be too depressing.
