Hi. I'm a new christian and I don't really know what to say. I want to deepen my relationship with God but I don't really know where to start. I've been a christian for a few days and Jesus and God have changed my life in many ways. Before I devoted my life to Jesus, I was very insecure and felt unloved but since giving Jesus the steering wheel to my life, I've felt so much love from him and God even though everyone around me seems to push me away further. I'm still trying to balance my life and being a christian, I find that I have to wake up early to spend time with God but even if I wake up earlier I still find that I can't seem to balance worshiping God and my life from before I became a christian. It seems like I spend all my time with God which I like but then when I'm not spending time with God, I just want to be reading the bible or praying. If you have any tips on anything please let me know as I would appreciate some guidance on my journey.
Hi, layla.
If you want to always be reading the Bible or praying, then that is a good indication that you've truly been born again.
Peter put it this way:
I Peter chapter 2
[
2] As newborn babes, desire the sincere milk of the word, that ye may grow thereby:
[
3] If so be ye have tasted that the Lord is gracious.
In the same manner in which a newborn baby ought to have an insatiable desire for milk, so too ought those who have "tasted that the Lord is gracious" or who have been born again of his Spirit. In the Christian's case, however, that "milk" is "the sincere milk of the word, that we may grow thereby".
As far as your desire to pray is concerned, what newborn infant wouldn't want to spend its time with their parent?
My point is that, whether you presently realize it or not, you're off to a very good start.
I've personally met THOUSANDS OF PROFESSING CHRISTIANS who have no desire whatsoever to either read God's word or to pray.
Whereas there's something terribly wrong with them, you're doing just fine.
Be encouraged, and welcome to the family of God.
