This is my second go at being devout and I m open to advice from everyone who is willing to give
Welcome. First lesson, and hardest, of Christianity: quit trying, start trusting. Lord Jesus is your Saviour, your leader, your counselor, your wisdom, your power and everything else that you could possibly need. But He requires your permission to be all that to you.
Most Christians try and fail until they give up. Then hopefully they will turn to Jesus and say, "I can't do this!" Lord Jesus will say, "I've been waiting for this day. Good. Now let me be all that you should be but cannot be."
One of the best prayers you can pray (and prayer is not an option, it is far more important than food) is "Lord Jesus, live out your life in me, through me and in place of what I inherited from Adam". Or words to that effect.
Ask Him to lead you in every aspect of life. You will fail. That is for certain. That's OK, it's part of the growing process. But when you fall down, don't stay down! Lord Jesus will pick you up. I fell in the ditch so often that God welded a hook on me so it was easier to pull me out again.
Study God's word. Find out what God has done for you in Christ. God loves you. He's given you Jesus to be your everything. You just don't know what that means as yet. You will one day. The more you seek God and refuse to rely on your own abilities, the quicker you will grow.
