Hello everyone!

I’m still a bit shy... It took me days to take the step to register. My name is Dennie. I ended up here for various reasons, but the biggest hope I have is to be able to talk to people who are genuinely kind-hearted that can advise me. I have so many things I want to get off my chest.

But I won’t do that right away in my welcome post.

To be honest, I’m not sure if I’m religious or if I consider myself a Christian. I grew up in a Christian environment, but my parents didn’t take it very seriously, and neither did I.

Don’t hesitate to ask me direct questions. I’m new here, and maybe by answering them, you’ll get a better picture of who I am.

Thank you for letting me join your community.

English is not my native language but I put in a lot of effort and time to write as good as I can.

^ Gospel of John is often recommended as a great place to start reading the Bible.
This movie is a word-for-Word portrayal of John's gospel.

Also, please check out the Alpha Course.

There are 10 videos total. I hope you watch them. They could benefit you greatly .:)

Guard the heart. Hopefully, the truth will guide you as there are great

G'Day Dennie and welcome aboard CC.. I hope you are blessed from your interactions here..

So a Direct question.. Lets try this one.. Since i do not know where you are in your knowledge of Christianity let me ask you this question to help me find out..

Question: In Christianity how is one reconciled to God to have eternal life with God in His perfect eternal existence? By the way i am not asking you what you believe.. I am asking to simply understand your knowledge..

Your English is better than some who are native English speakers. Welcome, by the way.

This is what they teached me: One is reconciled to God through faith in Jesus Christ, who died for humanity’s sins and rose again?

Hi Dennie.. That sounds like a common standard statement that a lot of churches would put out there.. I would state that One obtains eternity with God by having their sins justly forgiven by them trusting that the death of Jesus on the cross pays the penalty that was due upon them for their sins and by believing Jesus =, His teachings in the Bible.. And yeah Jesus rose again on the third day after His execution..

I sometimes find that people can recount similar statements of faith as you have but not really understand what their statement actually means.. I like to express things as plainly and in a way simply as possible..

Anyway thanks for your response Dennie.. Feel free to bring up any other points / questions you like in the forum.. Take care (y)

The Dutch are the best non-native English speakers in Europe.

Welcome, Dennie (y)
It’s true that most people from the Netherlands (where I no longer live, by the way) speak at least basic English, but I think the Swedes and Danes, in general, speak English much better, as if it’s their natural second language.

I have a theory about why I think this is, but it’s based on nothing except my own "logic."

In the Netherlands (and some other countries), everything on television is subtitled. So, every movie, interview, or any content in a different language (often English) is subtitled, and we hear the original language. Every movie/cartoon is in English and subtitled.

Now, I think this is the reason so many people speak at least basic English. Especially children pick this up very quickly.

In most other countries (like France, Italy, Spain…), everything is dubbed. People almost never hear the English language on TV, except during English lessons at school. I see this as a big disadvantage because these countries are often much less informed about what’s going on in the US or elsewhere in the world.

In all the countries I’ve been visiting where things are dubbed, almost no one speaks English.

Just my theory, but I think it’s at least one of the reasons why people in Northern Europe speak better English than those in Southern Europe.

As a child, I played day and night with the Commodore64 (nostalgia) and quickly became familiar with the English language.

I live here, but in my head, I live in the US. I follow everything, and if I could get on a plane tomorrow and go to America, I would do it in a heartbeat, haha.

Okay, here is one: Forgive me for any dumb questions I may ask here. I know my answer was correct but I do not have a lot of knowledge, just what I learned when I was very young.

When the Day of Judgment comes, is a person judged only by their actions, or by their true personality and sincere intentions?

I dated a Swedish girl in my mid 20s (I wasn't Christian back then). Her English was faultless, but British humour was lost on her and her family, they just didn't understand it.

The Dutch people I've met didn't just communicate well, they also instinctively understood the nuances (meaning) of English comedy, and were always good humoured.

The Commodore 64 was a little before my time. Amiga 2000, Sega Megadrive (Genesis) & SNES were the computer/game consoles of my youth. Nostalgia is probably my greatness weakness!

I've been to the USA on a few occasions, spent a fair bit of time in Ohio, loved the place and the people.

I hope the day soon comes, when you accept Jesus as Lord, and perhaps He will open a door that leads you to America. That's how my first visit came about. (y)

You may not know this, but because of Adam's fall, we are all born into this world unable to please God in any way. This is exactly why Christ died!
Our sins must be placed on His head and nailed to the cross. It is only through His death and resurrection that we are a forgiven people. He willingly took our sins upon himself, that we might be saved.
If you believe this to be true and have placed your trust in His finished work, then you certainly have been called by Him and you belong to Him. Therefore, confess your sins and His Spirit will continue to work within you, and enable you to live more and more for Christ. Then, when the Day of Judgment comes, you will be found a spotless lamb of God!
It does not depend on what you have done, but what Christ has done for you!

Praise the Lord............
