The 13th Chapter of Hebrews has so much "soul food" that I can feast on it daily. I tried to pick out the one or two verses that were my favorite, but couldn't. They ALL feed the soul!

1Let brotherly love continue.

2Be not forgetful to entertain strangers: for thereby some have entertained angels unawares.

3Remember them that are in bonds, as bound with them; and them which suffer adversity, as being yourselves also in the body.

4Marriage is honourable in all, and the bed undefiled: but whoremongers and adulterers God will judge.

5Let your conversation be without covetousness; and be content with such things as ye have: for he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee.

6So that we may boldly say, The Lord is my helper, and I will not fear what man shall do unto me.

7Remember them which have the rule over you, who have spoken unto you the word of God: whose faith follow, considering the end of their conversation.

8Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and to day, and for ever.

9Be not carried about with divers and strange doctrines. For it is a good thing that the heart be established with grace; not with meats, which have not profited them that have been occupied therein.

10We have an altar, whereof they have no right to eat which serve the tabernacle.

11For the bodies of those beasts, whose blood is brought into the sanctuary by the high priest for sin, are burned without the camp.

12Wherefore Jesus also, that he might sanctify the people with his own blood, suffered without the gate.

13Let us go forth therefore unto him without the camp, bearing his reproach.

14For here have we no continuing city, but we seek one to come.

15By him therefore let us offer the sacrifice of praise to God continually, that is, the fruit of our lips giving thanks to his name.

16But to do good and to communicate forget not: for with such sacrifices God is well pleased.

17Obey them that have the rule over you, and submit yourselves: for they watch for your souls, as they that must give account, that they may do it with joy, and not with grief: for that is unprofitable for you.

18Pray for us: for we trust we have a good conscience, in all things willing to live honestly.

19But I beseech you the rather to do this, that I may be restored to you the sooner.

20Now the God of peace, that brought again from the dead our Lord Jesus, that great shepherd of the sheep, through the blood of the everlasting covenant,

21Make you perfect in every good work to do his will, working in you that which is wellpleasing in his sight, through Jesus Christ; to whom be glory for ever and ever. Amen.

22And I beseech you, brethren, suffer the word of exhortation: for I have written a letter unto you in few words.

23Know ye that our brother Timothy is set at liberty; with whom, if he come shortly, I will see you.

24Salute all them that have the rule over you, and all the saints. They of Italy salute you.

25Grace be with you all. Amen. (Written to the Hebrews from Italy, by Timothy.)

Can you pick out one or two?

Psalm 34 verse 7 Hebrews 1 verse 14 The angel of the LORD encamps around those who fear Him, and he delivers them. Are not the angels ministering spirits sent to serve those who will inherit salvation?

Hebrews 13 verse 2 Do not neglect to show hospitality to strangers, for by so doing some people have entertained angels without knowing it.

Perfect Love (God's Love) casted out all fear 1 John 4:18-19, done today and forever in risen Son
He who fears is not made perfect in love from Father in risen Son given them yet. Might be on their way as in Ephesians 1:1-13 tells me about. accepted, forgiven and sealed to see it through
Thank you Magenta
Phil 1:6 as well

Hello @p_rehbein, I agree with you about Hebrews 13 and all that it has to say to us :)(y)

For instance, one of the many things that Hebrews 13 makes clear for us concerns the visible church, and our need, as believers, to be part of it and to submit to its authority and teaching. This includes submitting to the rule of its undershepherds (pastors/elders), those who are appointed by the Lord to keep watch over us/over our souls in this life with this understanding, that they will be required to give an accounting of their rule to Him (who is the Chief Shepherd) at the end of the age.

God bless you!!

~Deuteronomy (David)

Hebrews 13
17 Obey your leaders and submit to them, for they keep watch over your souls as those who will give an account. Let them do this with joy and not with grief, for this would be unprofitable for you.

Two questions, are you saying that Timothy is the human author of Hebrews, or do you mean that he was the scribe who wrote it down for a different human author? Whichever the case may be, why do you believe what you do about Timothy?

Thanks :)

--David
I, nor any other person knows for sure who wrote the Book of Hebrews. I also do not know how that addition to my typing The Book of Hebrews got there, or who put it there.... ???? :)

(Written to the Hebrews from Italy, by Timothy.) I did not put this in my OP. FYI: There is a goodly number of people who believe Perscilla wrote Hebrews... :) A goodly number of people believe Paul wrote Hebrews. I did. When I first started studying the Bible seriously though, I recognized that Paul's Epistles and Hebrews were written in different styles. Seeming to prove someone other than Paul wrote Hebrews.

God bless,,,

I always wondered if the reason for the difference in style was because of the different audiences. All of Paul's other epistles were written either to Gentiles or to specific people.

I know for me, I write differently when writing to a policy board vs. a colleague or friend. Knowing the Jews at the time, Paul may have been led to appeal to their nuances of communication as people restricted by a legal code. This would be consistent with what Paul wrote in 1st Corinthians:

1 Corinthians 9:19-23
19 Though I am free and belong to no one, I have made myself a slave to everyone, to win as many as possible. 20 To the Jews I became like a Jew, to win the Jews. To those under the law I became like one under the law (though I myself am not under the law), so as to win those under the law. 21 To those not having the law I became like one not having the law (though I am not free from God’s law but am under Christ’s law), so as to win those not having the law. 22 To the weak I became weak, to win the weak. I have become all things to all people so that by all possible means I might save some. 23 I do all this for the sake of the gospel, that I may share in its blessings.

Maybe? Worth considering. But, IMO, Paul would have made it his Epistyle to the Hebrews. I just think that Paul's style was too consistent. But, still, could be. In all of the instances spoken of in Corinthians, he still held to the styles distinctive to him. "Thus sayeth the Lord," and "It would be better that, I would rather that..."

These verses remind me that as long as I remember I have the Lord Jesus Christ with me, I have all I need ... whether physical comforts/things (aka toys) or things that happen in my life which may cause anxiety ... He is my all in all ... and my peace in troubled times.

good verses to remember ...

I remember when my daughter was a teenager and she would say things that were just rebellious teenage junk ... I would ask her how could such ugly words come out of her mouth.

She would get mad at me, but then after spending alone time with God, she'd straighten up.

She's in her 40s now and she still finds a place where she can be alone with God when she is being pushed either by circumstances or people.

God is true to His Word. If Scripture tells us God has appointed angels to minister to us, He HAS, and they WILL!
Daniel 9:

1 In the first year of Darius the son of Ahasuerus, of the seed of the Medes, which was made king over the realm of the Chaldeans;

2 In the first year of his reign I Daniel understood by books the number of the years, whereof the word of the LORD came to Jeremiah the prophet, that he would accomplish seventy years in the desolations of Jerusalem.

3 And I set my face unto the Lord God, to seek by prayer and supplications, with fasting, and sackcloth, and ashes:

...

20 And whiles I was speaking, and praying, and confessing my sin and the sin of my people Israel, and presenting my supplication before the LORD my God for the holy mountain of my God;

21 Yea, whiles I was speaking in prayer, even the man Gabriel, whom I had seen in the vision at the beginning, being caused to fly swiftly, touched me about the time of the evening oblation.

22 And he informed me, and talked with me, and said, O Daniel, I am now come forth to give thee skill and understanding.

23 At the beginning of thy supplications the commandment came forth, and I am come to shew thee; for thou art greatly beloved: therefore understand the matter, and consider the vision.

Revelation 1:1 The Revelation of Jesus Christ, which God gave unto him, to shew unto his servants things which must shortly come to pass; and he sent and signified it by his angel unto his servant John

The Father revealed to the Son ... the Son revealed to the angel ... the angel revealed to John.
