I'm inviting everyone in a discussion on how we can get closer to The Holy Spirit in our day to day walks with Jesus. How do you fellowship with The Holy Spirit? Bible study, Worship, prayer, ministry, family, alone time, hiking, walks, brothers and sisters in Christ? I invite testimony on how you have drawn closer To Holy Spirit whether a church event or just in your day to day walks with Christ.

Galatians 5:22-23

New International Version

22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law.

I ask that we all honor each other's testimonies and not speak against one another's relationship with God. I would like to this to be a discussion to build one another's walk with The Holy Spirit and perhaps teach us all how to walk closer with him.

for me it has been Prayer and studying the word of GOD. Yet over time I have learned the impotence relationship and praise and thanksgiving I ask the Lord to come to work with me and lead me in my daily tasks. To speak to me and use me at work, school, and even at play. to search my heart and ensure there is nothing there that is offensive to HIM.

Do what Jesus says. In everything treat others like you want to be treated, and don't treat them like you don't want to be treated. Don't show partiality in anything; be fair as you would want others to be fair to you. When feasible, give to the one asking. In every moment seek the well being of others. Treat others better than yourself. Practice these things and you will see Jesus growing inside of you because that is who he is.

Listening and discernment - He's making His thoughts our thoughts - let Him, even when it may seem unimportant, and always do His will. Ask for help in any and all times of need especially at the level of controlling thoughts. I also agree with what was said re: study and prayer.

you can get closer to the H.S. by Him getting more of you 1st! those who are born again are indwelt with the H.S. instantly. a complete surrendering of one's life gets the maximum H.S. relationship. everyday as we improve our relationship with Jesus, we are getting closer to the H.S. the #1 way to excel at this is the employment of OBEDIENCE! & that is continued obedience.

That sounds good, but it's backwards. We don't become mature in Christ by practicing good behaviour; rather, our behaviour becomes good as we seek spiritual maturity in ourselves, by inviting God to conform us to Christlikeness by the work of the indwelling Spirit. :)

I assure you I know what I'm talking about. You don't grow strong muscles by reading about sports in magazines and wishing you were strong. They grow by using them. It's exactly the same way in the spiritual realm. Use it or lose it

That's kind of a false dichotomy. Maturity is commanded so seeking it is obedience. And apart from obedience we'll receive discipline to get us back to obedient growth. It's really all one and the same process of obeying as we're led - a process that begins with God and continues as we're obediently responsive to Him, so it's ultimately not one or the other.

And what is the indwelling spirit going to tell you? It's telling you to do what Jesus said.

While that may seem like sound wisdom, it is not consistent with Scripture. The analogy simply is not valid because physical muscles need proper nutrition, exercise, and rest to grow.

By whose strength?

Whose strength is it that makes you treat others as you want to be treated, not show partiality, seek others' well-being, don't judge others unjustly, esteem others to be better than yourself, etc etc? It doesn't take a jolt from heaven to do these things. It's very near you, in your heart and in your mouth. All you have to do is sacrifice yourself that you may do them.

I was including things we do like obedience in which can be a way we can hear from the Holy Spirit. Being obedient is a Hugh way of hearing him. Doing what Jesus says is wonderful 😊 😊 😊 I am not looking to argue just welcome and encourage. Not everyone is in the same pace walking with Jesus but I would like to be an addition to one another's faith. In a world with so much to hear it's good to hear someone practicing Christ's preaching.

Well scripture says that He is the friend that sticks closer than a brother, (Proverbs 18:24) so He is here all the time since I have been born and now saved. So if my best friend was rooming with me, I am not going to ignore Him. I will invite Him to come with me if I have to go some where. He's always ready to chat about anything.

Scripture says pray without ceasing (1 Thessalonians 5:17) So if He never leaves and I never turn my back on Him by, not inviting Him or talking to Him. All day. More like I am talking to a friend and not praying all religiously. Most times it's out loud cuz just me and my dog here but I've prayed in my head in front of people before.

After a long time of doing this one day it was like He turned up the volume and I could hear Him talk to me inside my head, His still small voice.

Remember! Prayer is a dialogue and it is not a monologue! So I had to learn how to pause in my prayer since it is really prayer anyhow even if worded as something said to a friend. It is still prayer but I do it in real time and pause after I speak to give Him a chance to answer and I listen.

He told me that He wants for all of His people to learn how to hear His still small voice...and when He speaks, obey instantly. Later through all fault of my own (lol) that too much worldly entertainment makes it hard for us to discern His still small voice (SSV).

Scripture says read that Bible every day and to meditate on the Kingdom of Heaven all day and all night

Psalm 1:2
2 But his delight is in the law of the Lord; and in his law doth he meditate day and night..../KJV

Philippians 4:8
8 Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things..../KJV

So action movies where everyone dies didn't make the list. Although Jesus did tell me that many documentaries are good! Or any show that gives glory to God. That's not very many nowadays. But that's how my relationship is day to day with the Lord. Any time you read your bible, you come into the presence of God. Any time you pray you come into His presence. So talk to Him all day long!

In this season of my walk with Jesus Christ I'm practicing waiting and praying to hear from his Holy Spirit. It does take a lot of patience but the reward is great and a deeper relationship with Christ is being rooted. Trusting God in the waiting is also being cultevated

Spell it out. Are these “good works” the effort of the flesh? No. These are expressions of the love of God working through us, and they originate in His Spirit within us.
