I always end up asking them 'You do know God sees everything you are doing? And if you don't get caught in this life you will answer to him when you die?" LOL They never bother me after that....
There are a variety of motives. And not all of them have malicious intents, but lack the ability to recognize just how bad of an act it is.Umm reading this thread has made me wonder what the heck is the point in cat fishing?
Seems like a colossal waste of time. Unless they just get a kick out of it. They must realize that sooner or later they are going to be found a liar when you finally meet them.
Interesting watching those MTV shows, it also saddens me that people feel the need to do it , when in the end they end up hurting the other person and themselves. There are a variety of motives. Generally they never have intentions on meeting in person. Typically they don't even show their real faces, or even voices.
The MTV show Catfished is always an interesting watch that shows the broad spectrum of motives available. If you can get past the super liberal agenda they push.
Often times you'll feel saddened by the people doing it, in the end, because they're desperate for acceptance and friendship and deeply insecure. Going online let's them reinvent themselves and forces people to get to know them based off of personality (and often using photos of attractive people to lure people in).
We have a user on this site that has a fake profile picture up. Clearly a catfish.

Clearly he wasn't a well-rounded individual. We talked for a few days and being a nice person I believed him for a while (And honestly what he said could still be true - idk...) But then one night suddenly he turned out to be one of those "The world is flat" Christians....
Yes... stick with Bosch, Makita, or DeWalt. They make the best routers. So it was YOU!
Thanks for helping me figure out winsocks command lines. I'm never using that off-brand router again.![]()
The ones that amazed me is when someone used a picture of themselves from their late teens or early 20s, as their profile picture, for a 50+ dating site. Are you saying you haven't had one good picture since then? Do you want me doing a before and after? Don't you have one friend you can hand a camera/phone and ask them to click a pic?Something I've seen recently, more than once, is dating site profile pictures that are obviously and very badly modified... you might not be able to tell with a thumbnail, but upon viewing the picture at normal size, the blend lines (paste spills?) become shockingly obvious. I have considered sending messages that bluntly say "The pictures are fake, so you must be too."
