Eh...it's still pretty heavy. At least, heavier than I think it should be given it's size, but with the density of laminate, I guess I can understand it. Still, I won't be doing a lot of standing shots from the shoulder unless I have a shooting stick. Even a tight military sling wouldn't stabilize it enough with that bull barrel for multiple shots. Overall, I am satisfied with the stock. I was debating with myself between the Boyds and a Richard's Microfit.
They can get heavy pretty quickly. Mine has the Mag Research aluminum tensioned barrel, which is pretty light. Offset by the maple stock...
But, it's not cumbersome.... I did it more out of a "I want to do a project" mentality. A friend gave me the roughed out stock, so I had to buy a base 10-22 to put in it (couldn't let the stock just sit around, you know)
I'll probably sell it soon.. more toys are calling me....

Okay friends, if you had to choose a single stack 9mm what would it be?
I'm thinking of adding a Walther PPS or Glock 43 to my armory.

Between those two choices, I'd lean towards the Glock. The Walther is nice, but I have found that with Walther you are paying for the name without much increase in quality over some of the other poly-framed pistols out there. The Beretta Nano is also a fine pistol in single stack 9mm to look at, and the SIG Sauer P290RS is a fine weapon too.
The reason I was asking is because my recommendations would be different, depending if you want "pocket-size" or more "holster-size"...
Taurus makes a nice one in the 709 Slim. If it is anywhere nearly as good as my PT111 G2, it would be a great little gun, for about $220 or so.
Glock quality is a given... I don't know much about the Walther, other than they are generally great quality, but ergos are a little different.
Technically, a Commander-sized 1911 9mm would fit that bill, as well. I've heard a lot of good things about those.

I'm mainly looking for a gun I can easily conceal IWB when I have to wear a super-fitted suit.
I was looking at a G26 (I love those baby glocks), but they're just too thick with the kind of pants I wear.
Kahr looks great. I hear those suckers are really reliable and that the CM-9 is just as good as the higher-priced PM9. I've fired that before and it's a nice little shooter for its size.
The MSRP on the Glock 43 is actually a little more than the Walther PPS M2. I was shocked as well. They say when they put this pistol together that the folks at Walther knew they would have to cut their normal prices off the bat to compete with other single stacks on the market.
Oh man! That Beretta Nano looks like a sweet little shooter! I've never seen one before. Lord knows that they make darn good products.
It also fills the pseudo James Bond cool niche that the Walther does

I looked at the PPS online, and it looks really nice... I hadn't seen one before, just the PPQ's and P07's. If the trigger was as good as the Taurus's, I'd likely choose that one.
The Nano is sort of in a different class.... sub-sub-compact... it's pretty tiny. It looks like it would be a great pocket gun. I might have to check into that one to replace my TCP 380... which I like a LOT, but let's face it.... 6 or 7 rounds of 9mm, vs 6 or 7 of 380? No contest.

Yeah that nano looks like it would make a decent pocket gun. So would the others, I guess. I just stuff my pockets full of other things (knives, flash lights, pens, oxen).
Yeah, I've made my opinion on the 380 known. Part of the reason I loathe that round so is the cost and the fact I first shot it out of a Bersa Thunder. That was an awful experience.
I swear there was a stovepipe every five shots, but that probably wasn't the fault of the round so much as it was the gun. However, 9s are a bit hotter, so I imagine they would be more likely to knock that slide back into place.
9mm is basically a goldilocks caliber. Middle-of-the-road. Gets the job done in terms of self defense. Nothing sexy about it.

All of them are striker fired and, depending on the mag, carry 6-8 rounds. I was leaning toward G43 because I'm a Glock man by and large, but if I can get a gun and a decent IWB holster for the same price that's what I'll do.

Heck, just going by MSRP the Nano would give me room to buy more practice ammo.

You've got me interested in the Nano.... I had looked at them, sort of in passing, and it seems I remember the slide was pretty difficult to operate... very strong spring? But I could be mistaken about that. I need to run by Cabelas and look at them again... like I need another 9....
It would be good if you could borrow/rent them both and shoot them.... that's sort of the bottom line.... how does it feel?

Agreed. Especially with those little single stacks. The grips widely vary when it comes to shootability.
