“What you are talking about in the last paragraph sound like you are putting on a stage show, not leading the church in singing hymn that praise the Lord and brings joy to the heart of the people.

I will not be a part of such worldly events disguised as a worship service”

Those two statements create a “straw man” argument. Create a fictitious and objectionable scenario, then condemn it.

You have no idea what is going on.
So explain to me what you are doing and why you and others are being paid.
Why does it take so much planing and cost to lead a church in singing Hymns?

Thank you for serving The Lord without pay.

If a church needs a plumber, electrician or roof repair, should that worker be paid? How about paying someone to tune the piano every 6 months?

The WL/piano player does more than tickle the ivory. They lead a team (sometimes it's like hearding cats), schedule, plan and rehearse. They put together sheet music books for the team and lead the tech. They lead technical, like audio, video and online streaming. All our first time visitors found us online.

Why wouldn't you use church members with those skills to do the work? In the old testament the people made commitment and contribution by bringing their skills and material to do the work that needed to be done.

Good question, because when I was trained to preach, I was taught to lead songs, pick hymns to go with the sermon, research and write sermons and never got paid.

The New Testament does teach that those who dedicate themselves to the gospel have a right to earn a living from the gospel; however, a lot people have abused this and now the earning a living part is more important than the gospel part. I believe Paul and the other apostles would be appalled at the religious system we've set up.

I still cannot understand people being hired and paid to do the Lord's work.
Every place of teaching or leading in our congregation is a volunteer position.
This includes those who mow the grass and clean the bathrooms.
No one gets paid. They do it out of love for our Lord and each other.
As the saying goes, "you get what you pay for."

Precious friend, what would your letter contain?
Depends on the church, one thing I have learned is every church runs differently.
Some churches still strive to preach the gospel while others have become more worldy and entertainment based.
Independant Fundamental Baptists, believe women should wear skirts and dresses and men should wear pants using the verse "a man shall not wear that which pertaineth to a woman nor shall a woman put on a mans garment." They believe rock and roll is worldly and will not listen to it and will not permit drums in the church, where as pentecostal and non denominational churches will use drums and allow women to wear pants. Mormons follow the book of Mormon and hold it in higher regard than the bible, and Catholics do not believe in eternal security of the believer.

So a one size fits all letter does not fit, it depends on the particular church and the doctrines in which they are in error of which determines the content of the letter.
