I guess some people need more instruction than others. If you have to read the Bible to know that murder, stealing, and lying are loving there may be other issues.

I am approaching 90 -- I have seen human nature up close and very personal,
I have been among the very very wealthy and the dirt poor.

human nature has infected both --- and have been around "so called" christians

The reason Our Father and Jesus Christ are going to, no! must, change our nature in to Their divine nature,
because even when the commandments are listed clearly, with no confusion of words --- the entire world can not and will not obey.

You must be special! in need of nothing.

omnitemporal. exactly!! existing for ever, no beginning, no end. For God to have no beginning, always existing -- so must His WAY revealed by His Commandments
Hello Memberofthebride, what I had in mind (by using "omnitemporal") is that the Decalogue is for all generations/ages and peoples (not just for the Jews @ Sinai, IOW), not that it exists outside of time like God does (though I suppose that it does in a certain sense, so I don't have a problem with that idea either :)).

God bless you!!

I’m not sure what you mean by saying I think I’m special or in need of nothing. That’s not what I said.

Jesus said all the Law and the Prophets hang on loving God and loving our neighbor as ourselves. That doesn’t dismiss the commandments. It shows what they’re aiming at.

My point is that the law defines love. Murder, theft, and lying are obvious violations of loving your neighbor. The issue isn’t needing more rules, but whether our hearts are aligned with that love.

Everything in the Law of Moses is either in regard to how to love God or how to love our neighbor, which is why Jesus said in Matthew 22:36-40 that those are the greatest two commandments and that all of the other commandments hang on them, so the position that we should obey the greatest two commandments is also the position that we should obey the commandments that hang on them, which is why love fulfills the law. For example, if we love God and our neighbor, then we won't commit idolatry, murder, adultery, theft, rape, kidnapping, favoritism, and so forth for the rest of the Law of Moses. If someone thought that they just needed to love God and their neighbor, so they didn't need to obey God's command against committing favoritism, then they would have an incomplete understanding of what it means to love God and our neighbor. The greatest two commandments are much easier said than done, so thankfully God gave us the rest of His commandments in order to flesh out what it looks like to correctly obey them. Someone who was correctly living in obedience to the greatest two commandments would be indistinguishable from someone who was correctly living in obedience to the rest of the Law of Moses because they would both be following the same example that Christ set for us to follow. Moreover, in Deuteronomy 6:4-7, the way to obey the greatest commandment in the Bible is essentially by being zealous for teaching obedience to the Law of Moses. We can't love God instead of obeying His instructions for how to do that.

You omitted the Holy Spirit.

The source of divine love is the Holy Spirit and not your own version of love.

The most important fruit of the Holy Spirit is love and that what is poured into our hearts.

That divine agape love when expressed towards others is far beyond the scope of the law.

The second greatest commandment in the law is shown below.

Mark 12:31
The second is this, ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself. There is no other commandment greater than these."

Now here is the new covenant commandment that Jesus gave the apostles.

John 13:34
A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another, even as I have loved you, that you also love one another.

I am sure that you can spot the difference between these two commandments.

Can you see the immense difference between love in the law and love in the fruit of the Holy Spirit?

One form of love is from the flesh (we will obey) and the other is from the indwelling Holy Spirit.

God has not commanded anything that is not in accordance with walking in the Spirit, but rather God's character traits are the fruits of the Spirit and the goal of the Law of Moses is to teach us how to embody His character traits, which is why the Spirit has the role of leading us to obey it (Ezekiel 36:26-27). What God has commanded is His version of love in accordance with His Spirit, not my own version of love. The greatest to commandments of the Law of Moses are to love God and our neighbor and everything else in the Law of Moses is in regard to how to do that, so love is not beyond its scope.

In order to correctly obey the command to love our neighbor as ourselves we need to correctly know how we should love ourselves and the answer to that is that we should love ourselves as Christ loves us, which is therefore how we should love our neighbor. So Jesus was not sinning in violation of Deuteronomy 4:2 by giving a different command, but rather he was teaching how to correctly obey the Law of Moses as it was originally intended.

What’s your position on Gods 10 Commandments

the fullness was and still is God is Love, charitable 1 Cor 13:13
Look at the first four! God is love and asks us to love God back charitably. Which was before Jesus Christ revealing to us all God love to us all 1 John2:1-27. we can now respond thankfully, to the done work of Son John 19:30. Not self, because this forgiveness not for self gain while here on earth first.

Then the last 6 commands, one wil love all charitably after loving God First in God's charitableness of Son as risen for them to love all willingly. Believers in the risen Son, Father gives, will automatically love all people. Which does not mean to let people get away with things as do presently, by midunderstanding love and using evil to get things here on earth and seem as are doing good and are not.
truly only God knows each person personally and each person personally knows this in themselves too. Therefore no one has to worry over anyone else, since Father knows best for all.

Just care in charitable love from God to all. Ask God for this as in 1 Cor 13:4-7 to be imputed into you to do automatically to all, as is now donee by Son first. John 13:34
See whar Jesus was asked about. what is the greatest of all Law? He replies Love, God's charitable love

Love Father first! there one will love neighbor as self. The Jesus added to that part. love neighbor as I have loved you.

therefore if one does not see this love of Son for them beyond measure, then that one will not love in truth yet, only be acting as if got it and doesn't yet. Yet might be on the way to see it, believe it, stand in it and not be moved from it. and will be seen as doesn't know the truth by others along the way. Yet Father remains faithful
Col 1:21-23 thank you
Father for Son as risen that began the new way of your love and mercy for us all Hebrews 7:11-12

Rom 1:18 For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who hold the truth in unrighteousness;
Rom 1:19 Because that which may be known of God is manifest in them; for God hath shewed it unto them.
Rom 1:20 For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse.

Rom 2:14 For when the Gentiles, which have not the law, do by nature the things contained in the law, these, having not the law, are a law unto themselves:
Rom 2:15 Which shew the work of the law written in their hearts, their conscience also bearing witness, and their thoughts the mean while accusing or else excusing one another.

Mat 22:37 Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind.
Mat 22:38 This is the first and great commandment.
Mat 22:39 And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.
Mat 22:40 On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets.

Creation testifies of a higher power and of His attributes which one of them is love.

Which He provided food, and the means to make clothing and shelter.

And testifies of the 2 greatest laws love God, and love people.

So the world is without excuse.

1Co 13:13 And now abideth faith, hope, charity, these three; but the greatest of these is charity.

Gal 5:6 For in Jesus Christ neither circumcision availeth any thing, nor uncircumcision; but faith which worketh by love.

Rom 13:8 Owe no man any thing, but to love one another: for he that loveth another hath fulfilled the law.
Rom 13:10 Love worketh no ill to his neighbour: therefore love is the fulfilling of the law.

Love God, and love people are always to be obeyed and if not there is no salvation.

Charity, love in action, works, is greater than faith.

And faith works by love.

Love fulfills the law making us right with God.

Rom 3:31 Do we then make void the law through faith? God forbid: yea, we establish the law.

Rom 7:12 Wherefore the law is holy, and the commandment holy, and just, and good.
Rom 7:14 For we know that the law is spiritual: but I am carnal, sold under sin.

Gal 5:16 This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh.
Gal 5:22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith,
Gal 5:23 Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.
Gal 5:24 And they that are Christ's have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts.

We do not void the law through faith but we live up to the law obeying it.

Which the law is spiritual which are the laws of love, moral laws, which must always be obeyed.

Which by the Spirit we have the power to accomplish that.

Therefore we are not under the law for the law cannot touch us for prosecution because we fulfilled the law.

Rom 13:8 Owe no man any thing, but to love one another: for he that loveth another hath fulfilled the law.
Rom 13:9 For this, Thou shalt not commit adultery, Thou shalt not kill, Thou shalt not steal, Thou shalt not bear false witness, Thou shalt not covet; and if there be any other commandment, it is briefly comprehended in this saying, namely, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.
Rom 13:10 Love worketh no ill to his neighbour: therefore love is the fulfilling of the law.

Mat 19:16 And, behold, one came and said unto him, Good Master, what good thing shall I do, that I may have eternal life?
Mat 19:17 And he said unto him, Why callest thou me good? there is none good but one, that is, God: but if thou wilt enter into life, keep the commandments.
Mat 19:18 He saith unto him, Which? Jesus said, Thou shalt do no murder, Thou shalt not commit adultery, Thou shalt not steal, Thou shalt not bear false witness,
Mat 19:19 Honour thy father and thy mother: and, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.
Mat 19:20 The young man saith unto him, All these things have I kept from my youth up: what lack I yet?
Mat 19:21 Jesus said unto him, If thou wilt be perfect, go and sell that thou hast, and give to the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven: and come and follow me.

The 10 commandments are love towards God and people and must always be obeyed.

That is why Jesus told the rich man to keep the commandments that has to do with not offending people, love, to enter in to life.

He said he did that and Jesus told him to sell all he had and give to the poor which is love.

When the Church first started they did that and shared everything.

Rev 2:4 Nevertheless I have somewhat against thee, because thou hast left thy first love.
Rev 2:5 Remember therefore from whence thou art fallen, and repent, and do the first works; or else I will come unto thee quickly, and will remove thy candlestick out of his place, except thou repent.

In Revelation 2 the first Church left their first love which they were neglecting this.

Jesus told them to repent correcting this or there is no salvation.

There is no salvation if a person lacks love which the 10 commandments are laws of love.

Heb 8:10 For this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, saith the Lord; I will put my laws into their mind, and write them in their hearts: and I will be to them a God, and they shall be to me a people.

Gal 5:16 This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh.
Gal 5:18 But if ye be led of the Spirit, ye are not under the law.

Pro 4:23 Keep thy heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life.

Mat 12:35 A good man out of the good treasure of the heart bringeth forth good things: and an evil man out of the evil treasure bringeth forth evil things.

Mat 15:18 But those things which proceed out of the mouth come forth from the heart; and they defile the man.
Mat 15:19 For out of the heart proceed evil thoughts, murders, adulteries, fornications, thefts, false witness, blasphemies:
Mat 15:20 These are the things which defile a man.

If a person hates sin and allows the Spirit to lead them the law is written in their heart and they have the power to obey the law fulfilling the law.

Out of the heart proceeds who we are in character.

If the law is written in your heart that is what will proceed out of your heart.

A person led of the Spirit the law is written in their heart so that is what will come out.

2Ti 3:4 lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God;
2Ti 3:5 Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away.
2Ti 3:7 Ever learning, and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth.

Some people deny the Spirit leading them and love sin more than God.

They will not give up the flesh and the law is not written in their heart to be right with God which they lack love.

They do not come to the truth.

Many people say faith alone and sin does not affect our relationship with God for we cannot abstain from sin and we cannot lose our salvation.

But they are not in the truth.

Which the cannot see that because they do not come to the truth.

2Ti 3:5 Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away.

1Co 5:13 But them that are without God judgeth. Therefore put away from among yourselves that wicked person.

The Bible says turn away from these people.

One form of love is from the flesh (we will obey) and the other is from the indwelling Holy Spirit.

Yeah, this is what the Judaizers always miss: life in the Spirit replaces life in the letter of the law.

The greatest error comes from believing that "commandment" always means "those written on stone" and that "law" always means "those given at Sinai".

Well, here is a commandment given that was neither recorded on stone or given at Sinai:

The Lord commanded Saul (Paul) “Arise and go into the city, and you will be told what you must do.”

The Lord commanded Ananias “Arise and go to the street called Straight, and inquire at the house of Judas for one called Saul of Tarsus, for behold, he is praying."

If Paul and Ananias kept the 10 Commandments but did not keep either of these commands of the Lord, we would not find their names in the scriptures. They would have become people of no consequence to the work of God.

Interesting, this is the same manner in which the Lord spoke to Abraham: Spirit to spirit. This is a consequence of being reconciled to God: we are reconciled back to when God spoke to His people Spirit to spirit. This was 430 years before Sinai.

And to your point, when Jesus said "A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another, even as I have loved you, that you also love one another."

Under the law, a person could not give up their own lives. The law was designed to save the lives of the people. The law also only required people to give as much as they could give in their own strength. Christ's commands surpass the law. And the commands He still speaks surpass the law.

THIS is what is means to have the law of God written on our hearts: His nature becomes our nature. God does not need, for example, a reminder to have no other God before Him. That's a ridiculous idea. Nor does He need reminders for self-restraint or love. God IS love. When His nature (law) becomes ours, we live as God is in the earth.

Gentiles are not under the law and that includes the Decalogue.

The Decalogue is the written law and Gentiles were never under the written law.

See that phrase "the law", that phrase specifically refers to the law and the prophets.

A Gentile must be living in Israel (a sojourner) and be circumcised to celebrate the Passover.

The law is very clear about who is under the law.

For most yes, actually more like 99.99 %

Look at this world --- they don't even know how to spell them.
Just to be clear, these two?:

And he said to him, “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the great and first commandment. And a second is like it: You shall love your neighbor as yourself. On these two commandments depend all the Law and the Prophets.” -- Matthew 22:37–40 ESV

And a second is like it: You shall love your neighbor as yourself. On these two commandments depend all the Law and the Prophets.” -- Matthew 22:37–40 ESV

YES -- those two and the 10 that explain "how" -- are the most hated and ignored laws in the world.
even here on this blog I've been told the gentiles are not subject to them and Christ took them to the grave for every one else.

My guess .01% love them and do their best to obey. and since I am in the .01% I strive to keep them.

So Jesus was unable to articulate everything we need to know?
