I had a suspicion that I had a gluten intolerance awhile back. I stopped eating gluten, and my symptoms went away. Every now and then, I consume it, which I know is not good. Well, I'm going to do everything I can to avoid it now.

I consumed it for the last time about five days ago. Not only am I having stomach problems, but my sinuses are bothering me, I have a headache and I'm extremely lethargic. Even worse, I'm feeling very down and anxious. Can't focus at work either.

Do any of you have natural detox methods to get this out of my system? I've been doing epsom salt baths, and I'm going to be doing a clay detox bath Sunday evening. Has anything worked for you when you have to detox something?

Thanks so much, God Bless.

For me, tons of movement and water. This aids the lymphatic system in collecting and "digesting" the offending proteins that slipped through the gut barrier. I know it sounds obvious, but when I get glutened, I usually just want to lay on the couch and die. The, fasting to let everything repair. One or two days, the longer the better.

I was a baker for 5 years then one day: hospital. I feel your pain. :)

You may want to look online for more information on gluten. A lot of things contain gluten that you may not think of.
Bleu cheese
Soy sauce
licorice
beer
some other grains
ranch dressing
just a few for example. I am gluten, lactose, and soy intolerant.

I would go to the Dr. and have a test done. I have noticed over the last 2 or 3 years everybody and their brother are allergic, intolerant, etc. to gluten lol. It is indeed a medical issue, but, Its almost like a craze like the whole no carb diet. Then they realized that a no carb diet was bad for your kidneys.....anyways, have a dr check instead of following your "gut". No pun intended.

I (very unscientifically) think it is not so much intolerance of a substance as it is that our entire diet needs changing. You can create intolerance with bad diet. Something like lots of antibiotics that kills the friendly bacteria in our intestines and not replacing it results in intolerance of something. My grandson cured his Crohn's Disease that they said was incurable through diet. He went on that wonderful diet of "if God made it and men didn't change it, eat it". Milk was raw, not changed. Meat was from animals only fed naturally. Anything in a box was out for him. Oil was pressed, not processed. Food was often fermented, he had lots of probiotics. Chicken and eggs were only from those who lived naturally. It was terribly expensive eating, but cheaper than going the route doctors take you on for this disease.

Thank you for all your replies. I'm definitely looking at changing my diet. Doing a major grocery shop tomorrow. Then I can carefully plan my meals.

Great advice!
