The text states that it was Jesus' first miracle.

The text also states that it was a process...

Again...

Gen 1 states that same thing with the creation verbs 'bara'...something brand new.....and then uses creation verbs indicating a process.

No appearance of age....only of something aging...

I agree it was a miracle and a process. the process was far shorter than what is normally expected in the making of wine,

because the process was miraculous.

the process of creating the sun was miraculous, I think.

I think the sun was created new, and already "in motion", fusing hydrogen.
I think the wine was made with the fermentation already in motion.

What Hebrew words tell you otherwise...?

No.

Only a superficial reading of the text would cause someone to arrive at a 24hr day.

The Hebrew day begins and ends in the evening...thus, from evening to morning, if taken literally, like you said, would mean each day is only 12hrs long, tops.

Is that what you want....?

I don't see any words that tell me it was a long process.

I don't read "evening til morning",
I read "there was evening and there was morning, one day."

Since I believe in the Big Bang theory I also believe that the Earth is billions of years old. Some 20 years ago I believed in a young Earth, but later on I changed my mind. My faith in Christ, however, remains the same. The Bible is a collection of spiritual books - not a scientific encyclopedia.

Its refreshing to read some common sense. It doesn't happen often on this site. I have never believed in a Young Earth
My salvation doesn't depend on it. The main problem is that the idea of the Bible being a set of Spiritual books appears to be a completely alien concept to many. This is quite baffling as the Holy Spirit guided those who put it together. One major problem I think is that apart from the Bible many hardly read anything else beyond Left Behind or Authors that confirm their own views. The same applies to the Internet, U Tube in particular. It seems that the more bizarre and sensational
the subject happens to be the more likely some will believe it.

so child can mean from womb to maturity. good.

I think when adam was formed, he was the general height and weight of a thirteen year old.

What makes you feel that way....other than being a YEC...?

what do you believe he looked like?

He was formed from dust...what does dust look like?

What apparent age does dust have?

After all...that is what you, as a YEC, are going for...

I don't believe I've ever claimed to be a yec... I see it as a possibility.

Your replies say that you are a YEC...

I can quote it, but why? we all have loads of translations available on the internet.

If you can quote it, then why haven't you?

I don't have any idea what verse you are even talking about, and what point you are even attempting to make.

When do you think the sun was created?

Your answer to this question will tell us for sure if you are a YEC....

Then you read a 12hr period of time....not a 24hr period of time.

Actually, the Big Bang theory has so many holes, it's no longer viable (not that it ever was). Even many evolutionists are abandoning it. Also, evolutionary philosophy began with the Hindu Brahmin back in 1200BC (well after Moses wrote the Torah) and then developed further through ancient Greek philosophers in 600 or so BC. So tell me again why we're entertaining evolutionary beliefs as Christians? Finally, the Bible isn't a book of science, it's a history book. But that doesn't mean that the Bible doesn't address scientific fact at times. To say the Bible is just a spiritual book is belittling it. The Bible means jack crap if it's not rooted in the physical world. God's Word is concerned with Earth in light of Heaven.

What makes you feel that way....other than being a YEC...?

I don't believe I'm a yec. I consider it a possibility.

I picture adam that way based on the things God says to/about the man, starting with "let them rule over the fish of the sea." as I read it, the story flows naturally along, with God treating adam/eve as adults.

dust looks like small particles of grey or brown. I don't think adam looked like that.

dust appears to be very old. it takes time for rocks to be worn into the very fine pieces, plant matter and insect bodies to decay.

what do you believe adam's weight was when he was formed? and the volume of his body?

I disagree that I am a yec.

because we all have loads of translations available on the internet. why waste time, space on the thread, and cc's bandwidth?
if it's something I suspect the bible doesn't say, I always look it up for myself anyways.
I encourage other people to do that, too.

are you familiar with the story of when samuel goes to anoint david as king?

If it walks like a duck...and it talks like a duck....

Now you are attempting to blend Gen 1 with Gen 2.

Gen 1 is a summary.

Gen 2 provides the details of how it went down...

Dust is old?

Two rocks rubbing together can make dust.....is that old?

I don't have a fixed position on when the sun was created.

maybe it was billions of years ago

maybe six thousand years ago

(or somewhere between)

maybe 6,000 years ago, and already fusing hydrogen, such that a scientist looking at it would say, "it's been doing that for billions years."

Posting a verse uses up precious BW...?!

Your replies are becoming more and more ridiculous and strained...rotflol...!

Show us...

No....where in the creation narrative was our sun created...?
