Gay Christian?

Sin or not, there're more sins in the world. And most sins are much more horrible than gays.

Sin is sin, and it cannot enter heaven. The level of "horrible" doesn't matter.

Two deeply in love, deserve to be blessed.

But they aren't. The Bible makes that clear.

I heard that a gay couple bought rings from DR, they signed an agreement that love one and only in lifetime, a true love agreement. I can't see anything inappropriate. They didn't harm anyone else, why can't they be blessed?

Because the Bible says sex was created to be between a man and a woman. That was God's plan. Marriage, intimacy between a man and a woman. He created both with roles and functions. He didn't create a man to take a womans place.

Though I imagine that person has long sense left I am hopeful for them. Their first few posts revealed a heart that genuinely wants to learn and understand and seemed to be coming from a place of love , acceptance and openness.

I always tell people to be aware of their own echo chambers. If everything you read, watch and are told comes from something like just one interpretation by heterosexuals who says it’s evil then that’s all you will know. All scripture will be filtered through that preconceived idea.

So I suggest looking at a wide range of work on this subject. See what all these groups have to say and study their work and east their books and listen to their podcasts.

1. Active homosexuals who identify as Christians.

2. Inactive homosexuals ( gay people who reject it and choose to be celibate or get with the opposite sex anyways and pray it all works out) who also identify as Christian.

3. Heterosexual Christians who believe the Bible teaches same sex relationships are ok.

4. Heterosexual Christians who believe the Bible teaches it’s a sin.

Get out of a echo chamber and look up opposing views and counter arguments. Spend some time meditating on scriptures and trying to see their point of view.

Then decide what makes best sense to you.

Sometimes, I feel we as christians are too harsh on gays.
If we can accept an adulter, a fat person and a smoking person, why can't we accept gays?

Upfront (not that it matters), I am not gay.

That being said, I don't know how I feel about whether or not being gay and acting on it is a sin or not...but right now, I'm thinking that it's not. Again: I DON'T KNOW ECACTLY HOW I FEEL.

I know all of the verses that people use to point out that it is wrong and not how God created it.

BUT, I've also heard views on the other side of it. I also study a bit of ancient history in school and know that man-on-man action in the Bible wasn't what it is today. Then, it was talking about rape and that has never been ok. (I also don't have all the facts on this.)

I know Christians who are gay and are ok with God. They feel that it is not a sin (and I know they aren't justifying their sin by saying this--they've actually experienced God's comfort in who they are with this...meaning that they are gay).

So, I was wondering if anyone on here is gay and would like to share how they feel in their relationship with God on this.

I've just been incredibly curious and confused about this for a while.

God created male and female. God created them with the ability to procreate, in other words, have children. That was before Adam's sin. Same sex couples cannot have children, at least not naturally.

There is zero justification to say that the prohibition on homosexual acts was talking about rape. It simply says, "Wrong". People try to justify homosexuality, but they have to twist God's word to do it.

"Feelings" are no guide to right and wrong. God's word is our standard, not feelings. It is possible to be a Christian who is homosexual. God offers deliverance for that person. God does not save people to leave them captive to sin. But if the person won't call sin what it is, they will remain bound. Those who live a sinful lifestyle will not inherit God's kingdom. They may think that they are OK with God. I can assure them that God is not OK with their sin.

Homosexuality is the result of wilful rebellion against God. You can read the sorry decline of mankind in Romans 1. Sin is sin. Some justify adultery because they no longer have "feelings" for their spouse. God rejects their excuses.

Adultery is sin. In our fellowship, those who refuse to break off an adulterous relationship are told to leave. Being fat or smoking is not sin. I don't believe that gays should be treated any differently than any other sinner. But it is gays who are trying to say that homosexuality is not sin. That is the problem.

I have a personal interest in this issue. I was much helped by a Christian a little older than me. We were good friends. I did not realise it at the time, but he was homosexual before he came to the Lord. He backslid and went back to his old ways. He died of AIDS. He repented on his deathbed. He left behind a wife and children. He was amazingly gifted and talented. Such a waste of a life.

Also, I have heard many testimonies of gay Christians who tried to go through therapy to "get cured" and they ended up so depressed because it wasn't something they chose or wanted.

A lot of Christians assume that it's a lifestyle choice, but that's not what I hear from people who are gay. Why would they choose this if they don't believe it's right or if they want to "be cured", or if they are being threatened, ostricised, or picked on for it? Why would they choose something like that?

God makes us all on purpose just the way we are, so why are people like this if they don't want it? If it's really who they are? And from a younge age. I learned in psychology that it's already done by the age of three. Three year olds don't think "Gee, I'm gonna be gay now!" You know?

It just doesn't make sense to me.

Scripture doesn't flat out give the answers, and that is why I want personal stories and thoughts. (Do feel free to back up what you believe with scripture, though (anyone). I'm just saying that it isn't so clear-cut as that.

And I don't mean to offend anyone. Like I said, I'm just really confused and looking for answers.

I'm just curious, why ask the sinner if he is sinning?

Why not go to the source and seek out what God has to say, because people will say anything to justify themselves, even before God. Not only that but Satan does a bang up job of blinding people.

I didn't feel like a sinner doomed to hellfire as a Muslim, but after being saved I realize just how bad my situation had been and that yes, I was absolutely doomed to hell had I died even one minute prior.

It took God opening my eyes to see it.

So if you want to know if someone is in sin, seek out God's Word in Scripture. Ask God to open your eyes to His Truth as you read.

actually, we don't accept adultery. marriage has ended because it is a very hurtful thing. The problem is with homosexuality it is a movement of political, and one of controlling and invading one's home and space. There is not a curriculum that teaches adultery is wrong in school, however, there is one for LGBTQ. That is the difference.

God created Adam and Eve. They were not gay. Just as well as that would have been the end of the human race. Adam disobeyed God and so brought sin and death into the world. Did Adam accept responsibility? No. He blamed God indirectly. (Genesis 3:12).

Romans 1 describes the fall of man. Homosexuality is a result of rebellion against God. It says that God "gave them over in the desires of their hearts". God does not put any sin on anyone. Sin is the very nature of mankind. When people push God away, He leaves them to live as they please. This is always a disaster.

The intent of homosexual lobby groups is for homosexuality to be normalised. They do not want to change, they want their sin to be accepted by the world. Most people excuse their sin. Adulterers rationalise their sin, thieves excuse their stealing, liars likewise and so on. The prisons are full of "innocent" people.

Jesus came to set captives free. He did not come to gloss over sin. It is possible for homosexuals to be set free. Their sin is no worse than any other sin. However, it will be impossible if they seek to justify themselves and shift the blame to others, as Adam did. This is true of any besetting sin. Freedom is possible. A friend of mine was set free, went to Bible College, married and had a family. I lost touch with him when he went overseas. I found out that he backslid and went back to his old lifestyle. He died from AIDS (this was before medications were available). He repented, but too late. He was one of the most amazing people I've ever met, many talents, great abilities - all wasted. It did not have to be that way.
