Hey Everyone,

Our next live chat meetup will be this Friday, January 30, 5PM Central Time (Lynx usually gets there first; I try to get there as soon as I can but I'm usually about an hour later.)

If we had a chat meetup at about the same time on a Saturday instead of Friday, would that work better for anyone?

When you get there, join the room labeled Forum Meetup.
I'm actually a guy, but don't that let that throw you. There will be guys and gals there.

People always come and go, but we've been averaging about 20 people at the height of the chats, with several people dropping in from different countries (besides just the USA,) and several people outside of just the written forums.

We usually set the chat as lasting about 1-2 hours, but it all depends on the crowd. You DO NOT have to talk on the mic or appear on camera if you don't want to. Several people just come in and type the whole time. You do what you're comfortable with.

Yeah, Saturdays are iffy for me too, as I run all my errands and do chores on Saturday.

This is why I drag Lynx along to chats. He's better at pulling topics out of thin air and keeping things going than I am. He's also better on the mic.

But I'm learning as I go... Now I try to come prepared with a few "emergency topics" if the conversation lulls.

The things I have jotted down for tonight are:

1. pets

2. goals for 2026

3. winter weather, as many places in the USA were hit with some severe conditions

But we might not talk about any of this... We just kind of see how it goes.

We have some people who prefer the mic and some who prefer typing, so there's an option for everyone!

And for those who just want to sit and listen or observe, well, I just hope we're interesting enough to pay attention to!

In retrospect it was probably just as well she couldn't make it. The guys were also showing off their feet, and there was some mention of onlyfans...

It reached the point that the sheriff and Duke both had to stop by and see if they should intervene.

It was quite entertaining, and very free-form. Nobody got mad and many were laughing a lot. So I consider it a success.

The topic got off on facial hair, and then somehow got onto the possibility of making money by posting pictures of feet on onlyfans, complete with speculation about putting peanut butter on the feet. But it was all joking, not serious.

Oncefallen and RoboOp did both pop in though. But James started it, so we're covered. =^.^=

I could be wrong, but I recall only one person "showing off his feet" and that wasn't even showing off his feet. It was merely a glimpse of his fully-covered, fully socked foot -- as a joke. The other "visual" foot references were stock photos of things like trolls feet from Google.

The ironic thing is, the entire foot conversation started when someone came in and started joking with an administration member about sending foot pics. I was going to say that this could be shown in the chat log, but when I think about it, I think the person came in and started joking with the mod via the mic, so there would be no written record of that.

But that's how the foot angle of the conversation started, and from the way this person and the mod were bantering about it, you could tell it was a long-standing joke between them -- so of course, everyone else started joking about feet.

Someone observing must not have liked the conversation or entered in the middle of it and thought it was something more -- either way, it seems this was reported to other administrators.

It was a very lively conversation, and had me laughing so hard I had to wait a while to talk on the mic. But when we signed off for the night, one person said they'd been having a very hard week and thanked us for cheering them up and making them laugh with that conversation. To me, this is what makes it all worth it.

It will be interesting to see what happens in the future, and if people will show up just to see "if we're causing trouble" -- so that they can report us again.

Now of course, I'm grateful to know that if we do need help, we don't have to go very far to find it, as one of the reasons I was hesitant to start chats like this was the thought of "what if" people act up. I guess I shouldn't be surprised that maybe some would see me as being one of the ones who was acting up!

No matter what, we appreciate all the admin's time and hard work put into keeping all of us safe -- even from ourselves.

Yes.

I don't know if the person who reported us realized it, but the entire foot conversation happened because someone came in and started joking with James about the foot pics -- and James is a moderator. He's a lot of fun and we like having him there because he participates in the conversations too.

Maybe it didn't matter that he was already there with us for most of the night, I don't know.

But this is one of the reasons why people (me, at least) took off and ran with it, because the person who was teasing James seemed to be having an awfully good laugh, and many of us didn't want to miss out on the joke.

My procedure was more extensive that I figured it would be. Then traveling Friday night through the big city...crazy and takes forever. It was late when I got home and I felt pretty terrible. But, I'm alive! lol Hopefully, next time I'll be able to make it. It sounds like it was lots of smashing fun!!
