Denominations are confusion.

1 Peter 4:4
Wherein they think it strange, that you run not with them into the same confusion of riotousness, speaking evil of you.
1 Corinthians 14:33
For God is not the God of dissension, but of peace: as also I teach in all the churches of the saints.

Confusion is what results when you put together two unrelated verses of Scripture and imply that they say the same thing.

Denominations mostly resulted from the variety of countries they originated in. It's confusing only if we think we're better than members of other denominations. In America, I see mostly positive attitudes about other denominations' doctrines and practices, even while we may disagree on less important issues.

Perfectionists like me have higher standards than denominations.

I submit that there is just as much confusion among non-denominational Christians as there is among denominational Christians.
Many ‘non denominational’ churches have been started by people with marginal understanding of scripture. We have some (where I’m at) who even admit to only preaching as little as 2/3 of the Bible because they don’t understand it. People tend to flock to churches where they don’t feel like they’re expected to know doctrine… and they seem to like to keep the lights down low and the music loud, too…
