What do you guys think about flirting?
Is it harmless, or sinful? I don't really know. I don't really want to ask an adult in case it's a bad thing to do.

Here are some definitions of flirting

1.To make playfully romantic or sexual overtures.
1.to court triflingly or act amorously without serious intentions; play at love; coquet.

I think as Christians we need to be careful of arousing sexual feelings outside the context of marriage. So in that definition flirting is bad.

But what many do as 'flirting' really doesn't fit within the above definition. For many flirting is just jokingly making cute remarks at someone. These remarks are just cutesy and fun and don't arouse sexual feelings.

I don't see any problems with this kind of flirting.

Just be mindful of what kind of emotions you're getting from someone.

Don't flirt unless you have interest in the person whom you are flirting with. It gets confusing otherwise.

It's probably wise to get to know someone before you 'flirt' with them. Once you know their way of thinking, you will know if what you are doing is good or bad for them.

I agree with much of the other postings here. Flirting is wonderful, as long as it's appropriate. You can flirt with the one you're with, or one you're interested in, but not with another person if you're in a relationship or to lead someone on who you're not interested in.

One thing to ask yourself on the flirting issue is this: Is this helping our friendship/relationship

Naturally, if two people like each other, they will be playful with one another, but when things start to get overboard, it does not really help them at all. You never want to fall for a person because they are always flirting with you. We should want to fall in love with people because of their character. And with flirting, as their overt playfulness tugs at our emotions, it's easy for us to no longer be able to control our emotions.

I agree with what has been said....... I have been on the receiving end a few times where I have thought the 'flirting' denoted 'interest' when it was really just the other party having fun and not seriously considering anything further with me....this, as has been said, can leave people somewhat confused or deflated about the status of the friendship. So....flirt if you mean it......do it to someone you think there could be potential for a relationship with and treat every other 'opposite sex' friendship as a 'sister' or 'brother.'

I dont think you should flirt with someone unless you are intrested in them. otherwise it just messes with their head and thats never a good thing.
