Well, what I see in Luke 17:14 is the healing power of God in operation, which is available to everyone of us if we believe and obey just as the Lepers. You remember 1 Peter 2:24, by his (Jesus) stripes we are healed. The same God"s healing power in operation.

When we come across the scripture on the great Commission and realise that the spreading of the good news of the gospel is no longer restricted to the Apostles or to the Jews, our understanding of the scripture you quoted in Matthew 10: 5 widens. Even at that, we may want to know, why they were restricted in that manner, What spiritual lessons are there for us if any? The Holy Spirit is there to guide us.

Spiritual lesson or spiritual understanding connotes the same thing.-------just say not interpreted by the letter for the letter kills but the spirit gives life.

I think the problem here is that you seem to have a preconceived (perhaps learned) method of reading or studying the bible which to me looks very academic. --Who said that? to whom was it said? are better in academic examination. That method does not have to be for everyone.

You missed the point when you miss what the text SAYS . Its a command given to specific people at a specific time. We would be completely off track by following those commands today. We would be disobedient by following those commands today. They are there for our learning ,but the command is not TO us .

And you seem to have a loosey goosey ,floaty ,subjective approach. I believe that the bible is from God , God cannot lie and i believe what it SAYS .

How is it 'academic 'to ask 'who is the author/ speaker talking to ? what's the timeline? Who's the audience? what's the central theme of the letter / book . What's it about ect . Were told to STUDY the word of God and rightly divide .

You make me laugh, which is a good thing. Who does not know that in the verse you quoted, Jesus was talking to the Lepers. I still have my bible with me. If I did not know or remember, common sense would have shown that, I would have checked! Even if I am dumb, I am not that dumb.

No, we will not go off track by following Jesus's commands. He commands, we believe, obey and we receive. You see, the same principle that we see in that verse runs through the whole scriptures. The healing power of God is as evident today as it used to be then. The power of the operation of God remains the same. Today , we still "show" ourselves to our High Priest whom I believe you Know albeit in different way or don't we?

Again you seem to miss my point . Its a command that Jesus gives to specific people at that time ,that if you followed it today you would now be disobeying God. We learn about Israel / Jews under the law and the requirements under moses .

Oh! throughfaith, only me you ascribe all these? even goosey? It is well and good. For now, I am yet to grasp your meaning of floaty. will confirm later.

Yes God can never lie for he is not a man that he can lie. I trust you believe what he says as you mentioned --- to the best of your understanding. I believe what God requires from us most is the integrity of our heart, other things will fall into place with time.

Then, we have to be careful how to divide.

Jesus tells us the words he speaks to us are spirit and they are life. We should always allow the spirit in the word to minister to us always, so that we can divide aright.

Would you agree that we are meant to ' rightly divide " the scriptures .
I use this verse to make a more obvious point.

We can trust that God has made his word clear to understand.
This command for example is not for us today . Its not written TO us . Its an account of a command given to Noah specifically.
Genesis 6:14
“Make thee an ark of gopher wood; rooms shalt thou make in the ark, and shalt pitch it within and without with pitch.”

Now its FOR us to understand,but its not for us to follow by building an Ark in our back yard . Yes there is so much to gain from understanding the flood account .
I see people doing this with Jesus words . Instead of understanding who Jesus is speaking too , when he is speaking and why people just go for the ' spiritual ' " I feel God is speaking to me in this verse ' ect .

By my understanding I think it means that we could fly if we flapped our arms hard enough. I prayed about it ,I feel God told me so , that settles it .

He claimed 'private ' interpretations . That others too could have confirmation that what he taught was true if they prayed about it and they would recieve a personal testimony ( burning in the bosom) that it was true.
