I am interested in hearing different folks favorite bible verses and if you have the time to note dowm on why it is your favorite and what it means to you.I have a lot I like but two are as follows:
Numbers 23:19- "God is not a man, so he does not lie. He is not human, so he does not change his mind. Has he ever spoken and failed to act? Has he ever promised and not carried it through?" (NIV 2007)
This verse came to me because of a rememberence of a phrase in the movie Monstors Inc.(a child's animated funny movie) Lol.The 23:19 stood out at me in a list of verses because it is a code used in that movie.Out of curiousity I looked at the verse and immediatly loved it.
It is amazing to think that God is waaaayy past humans in any capability past even what we can imagine...it is a promise to human's that we will sin and make mistakes...it is also assured that God is not a man that he would make such mistakes. He is perfect and keeps his promises in His Word.
This also gets people thinking about the consistancy of what the bible says and the history and the stories in it... do they all coincide and match up?Strangely...yes...out of 40 or so authors; from teachers to prophets to doctors to fisherman and carpenters and kings...the educated and the uneducated...it all coincides.Possible with the human hand and mind?No...God is amazing.
In everything that has happened in history He has kept His promises...for millenniums He has always fullfilled His Word...why not trust Him?How can you not?John 14:6 says "Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.... " (KJV)
My second choice of versesto show here as a fav is 2 Kings 6:14-17-"
14 Then he sent horses and chariots and a strong force there. They went by night and surrounded the city.
15 When the servant of the man of God got up and went out early the next morning, an army with horses and chariots had surrounded the city. “Oh no, my lord! What shall we do?” the servant asked.
16 “Don’t be afraid,” the prophet answered. “Those who are with us are more than those who are with them.” 17 And Elisha prayed, “Open his eyes, LORD, so that he may see.” Then the LORD opened the servant’s eyes, and he looked and saw the hills full of horses and chariots of fire all around Elisha."
This is a fav because it portrays to me that even when we see all these hardships and persecution and we feel as if we are alone... all we need to do is pray for God to open our eyes and help us and really we weren't alone at all...we have this huge army of God behind us right there...standing there with us for us.God doesn't let us get in a situation that we cannot make it through with His help...and with His help you can make it through anything eventually.So...that really brings down the list of things that we cannot make it through huh?lol.Praise God He is amazing and everything in whatever we do praise be to Him. Psalm 68:19- "Praise be to the Lord, to God our Savior, who daily bears our burdens."
Numbers 23:19- "God is not a man, so he does not lie. He is not human, so he does not change his mind. Has he ever spoken and failed to act? Has he ever promised and not carried it through?" (NIV 2007)
