Welcome Donny, i'm in England. Some people are a bit more jobsworth types than others but think we're all just trying to muddle through with all the craziness of the last 5 years.

Gobsmacked it's that long already, welcome and hugs, there are plenty of interesting threads which i think might interest you to mix in with the more spiritual ones.
And yes, my avatar is Anne Bradstreet, the Puritan poetess.

😂 I’m sure she was some woman
She definitely wasn't the shrinking violet type, smart and knew it too. i like David Pawson too, got a lot of his talks/sermons. Only became a believer last Spring, his stuff really helped me get going. Have you heard of Mike Winger? Think he's great, posting a link to his first Hebrews video:

David was one interesting character, truly loved the LORD but glory! He was violent, the poet and warrior type, his end was sad too but he knew why he suffered and thought it was fair enough, kudos. Downloading your Pastor's sermon, will look at more of his talks, he seems good, will tell you what i think too. Playing chess online at the moment, kicked quite a few posteriors but will take a break soon. My little cat is fed up of me playing too. :)

After a robust round of comments here's another welcome to the 'fun and fellowship' here at CC! I find it amazing how Jesus was all about mercy, love and salvation and how that turns into disputes over His very Scriptures on brotherly love. Anyway, glad the Lord led you here, God bless you and yours🙏✝✡

Your title says: "Faith without repentance is dead"
Why would anyone say that?

Let us see what the word of God says...
Romans 11:29

What is a gift and calling of God?
Ephesians 2:8

Looks like your religion is dead. For the Bible says repentance is not needed, that faith is a GIFT...
How is faith given?

Amen!
Faith alone for salvation, any other way, you go to the pits of hell.

So the only reason someone would say faith without repentance is dead, is because they have never read the Scriptures...
You need to read Romans 11 more carefully. If you do, you will see that the Apostle does not have in mind the status of NT believers.
Romans 11:28-29 says,
"…28 Regarding the gospel, they [the Jews that did not believe] are ENEMIES on your account; but regarding ELECTION, they are loved on account of the patriarchs. 29 For God’s GIFTS and His CALL are IRREVOCABLE ['without REPENTANCE].

So even though the Jewish people are in rebellion against God they have still been given a measure of grace on account of God's promise to Abraham and as such they still have a destiny. Repentance in the context of this passage refers to GOD, HIS CALL and GIFTS which had been dispensed to His covenant people, the Jews, so that they might one day to fulfill His purpose in the Last Days. The "calling" and "gifts" refer to that which belongs to the Jews. Unbelieving Israel are called "the enemies of God" hence they cannot be used to represent the believers by faith. However, what good it is to have gifts and a calling if you do not have fellowship with God?

You have taken this to mean that, because we are saved the gift (of salvation) and the (holy) calling to be a part of the kingdom CAN NEVER BE REVOKED. Yet that is not at all what the passage is saying. Futher down in chapter 11, we read this:

19 You will say then, “Branches were broken off so that I could be grafted in.” 20 That is correct: They were broken off because of unbelief, but you stand by faith. Do not be arrogant, but be afraid. 21 For if God did not spare the natural branches, He will certainly not spare you either. 22Take notice, therefore, of the kindness and severity of God: severity to those who fell, but kindness to you, if you continue in His kindness. Otherwise you also will be cut off (Romans 11:19-22)

Very good word! Repentance can be painful but it "restores the JOY of our salvation" so ultimately it is POSITIVE RATHER THAN NEGATIVE. The change is certainly worth it:
67 Before I was afflicted, I went astray; but now I keep Your word. 68You ARE good, and You DO what is good; TEACH ME Your statutes.…
(Psalm 119:67)
