11 Now faith is the assurance (title deed, confirmation) of things hoped for (divinely guaranteed), and the evidence of things not seen [the conviction of their reality—faith comprehends as fact what cannot be experienced by the physical senses]. - Hebrews 11:1 (amp version)

Faith and Love
by me

Love can't be swayed uncontrollably by any which way the wind blows, right or left, up or down,
it is a firm foundation on which to build a home.

Love doesn't go by whether we are feeling it or not,
and it can't be measured or earned,
we shouldn't let emotions and the past dictate where we stand.

When I say I love you,
it's up to you to receive it and take it all in,
or let it bounce off your wall, and reject it.

If you believe it will fail, guess what's going to happen,
you're are going to get exactly what you expect to happen,
that is faith, for the good or bad.

I love you, even if you don't believe it,
and I will love you as you move further away,
because there is no faith to hold it together.
I love you, and I wish you happiness,
and I won't chase you anymore,
I have to move on.

My definition of faith comes from Heb 11:6 (paraphrased); Without faith it is impossible to please God because anyone who comes to Him must believe that He exists and that He rewards those who earnestly seek Him.

Faith is believing that God is worth seeking and then seeking Him. It is believing that He will reward you with Himself if you earnest seek him himself.

It is (from other NT passages) believing that God loves you more than you can imagine. It is believing that He loves you personally so much that He allowed His one and only human born Son, Jesus of Nazareth, to die in your place on the cross and that three days later, God raised Him from the dead.

I believe that the more we focus on God's love for us and His love for the world around us the more we will naturally choose to love Him back. The more we love Him, the more we love what He loves which is other humans. The more we love others, the more we are willing to sacrifice ourselves for their greatest good. I.E. The more Christlike we become.

Interesting perspective on faith.

I love the subject of faith and I love God's word. I don't believe God calls us to sacrifice ourselves for anyone, yes we should act like Christ and be a saving hand to the world, IF the world wants to receive Christ, (sad but it's true) that a lot of the time you get people who just refuse God's hope and refuse to believe, and those people you have to "dust off your feet" let go and move on, praying that they find him or seek him one day. Letting go is also faith, because it is leaving them in God's hand's, he is the only one who can save.

God word also says "I require obedience not sacrifice..." 1 Samuel 15:22

If that is God's will for me to sacrifice myself for love in that manner for another person then so be it, my heart is there, and God will make it happen without me having to strive for it, he will give me the grace to stand without running away.

This doesn't mean I don't love who I love, I do but I have learned to let go (which is hard for me to do) and trust and rest in God, and that to me is faith as well.

...yes we should act like Christ and be a saving hand to the world, IF the world wants to receive Christ,
I really don't like the 5 minute rule on here, especially when you need to make changes on what you post. I also wish they didn't take away the part where you kept a blog a little personal, I would rather have people I trusted, knew for a while and joked around with to talk to and reply to me on this blog, rather than someone who wants to 'fix it' coldly. It is very icy like a shiny scalpel. I have only had one friend on here who never talks to me, and another person who was kind enough to just message me over a month ago since I joined. That's as warm as it get's. I will always be grateful for those two people.

I wanted to clarify the IF part in case anyone got a wedgie over this statement.

Yes, of course, Feed, clothe, and shelter the unsaved, give hope to a lost and dying world so they will live, that is God's will for our lives. That nobody perish or is lost. We aren't called to fix them, or be their Personal Jesus. Just to point them in the right direction.

I suppose it's just time for me to back away from this place, but that might be a good thing, and the world still turns.
