Verse 1 And the word of the LORD came unto me, saying,
Who is speaking here? Is it God or Ezekiel ?
God is the one doing the speaking and Ezekiel is His scribe.
Remember these are not the words of Keith, or Ezekiel they are the words of God given to us for our correction, our growth, or instruction . . .
Verse 2.Son of man, prophesy against the prophets of Israel that prophesy, and say thou unto them that prophesy out of their own hearts, Hear ye the word of the LORD;
Son of man (Ezekiel) speak out against the prophets that are saying preaching, teaching, etc. out of their own hearts, speaking their own words,thoughts, dreams etc. Look at what God says at the end of this verse. Hear (open your ears and your heart and hear and obey My words).
Verse 3. Thus saith the Lord GOD; Woe unto the foolish prophets, that follow their own spirit, and have seen nothing!
Who says? GOD! Woe hold up here you foolish and senseless prophets you are following your own spirit, you own doctrine, ideas, thoughts your own dreams and you have seen nothing from Me.
Verse 4. O Israel, thy prophets are like the foxes in the deserts.
O My children, your church leaders, are like a bunch of foxes in the desert.
Just what are the foxes of the deserts? They are the smallest of all the foxes; They love to borrow so they dig under the fences, they also run and play on the fences and brake them down, they get into the vineyards and they are small enough to run across the grape vines and knock off the blossoms which grow into the grape clusters thus distorting the vineyard.
God is telling us that the prophets (religious leaders, teachers ect.) are like these foxes wreaking havoc in the church with false teaching.
This is as true today as it was when Ezekiel wrote this.
Verse 5. Ye have not gone up into the gaps, neither made up the hedge for the house of Israel to stand in the battle in the day of the LORD.
You have not bothered to clime up into the gaps and repair them neither have you fixed or repaired the hedge: Strong's: 1447 an enclosure fence or wall of the house of the Lord. You have let my house fall into ruin it is full of false teaching . . . and you do nothing about it.
Verse 6. They have seen vanity and lying divination, saying, The LORD saith: and the LORD hath not sent them: and they have made others to hope that they would confirm the word.
They make up things in their own minds and then tell the people God has spoken to me, or God has given me a vision and then pass it own to the people as if it where “The Word of The Lord”
Verse 7. Have ye not seen a vain vision, and have ye not spoken a lying divination, whereas ye say, The LORD saith it; albeit I have not spoken?
God makes it clear in this verse just what is going on here and as we continue He will make it very clear as to how He feels and thanks about all of this.
Verse 8. Therefore thus saith the Lord GOD; Because ye have spoken vanity, and seen lies, therefore, behold, I am against you, saith the Lord GOD.
Because you have spoken lies, twisted the scriptures I am against you!
You as part of the congregation are in almost as bad a shape as those feeding you the lies.
Acts 17 10-12
10 And the brethren immediately sent away Paul and Silas by night unto Berea: who coming thither went into the synagogue of the Jews. 11.These were more noble than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness of mind, and searched the scriptures daily, whether those things were so. 12, Therefore many of them believed; also of honourable women which were Greeks, and of men, not a few.
I have never gotten an answer back from the following question.
When was the last time you came home from church and searched the scriptures to make sure what you wer being taught was true.
2nd John 1:7-11
7For many deceivers are entered into the world, who confess not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh. This is a deceiver and an antichrist. 8Look to yourselves, that we lose not those things which we have wrought, but that we receive a full reward. 9Whosoever transgresseth, and abideth not in the doctrine of Christ, hath not God. He that abideth in the doctrine of Christ, he hath both the Father and the Son. 10If there come any unto you, and bring not this doctrine, receive him not into your house, neither bid him God speed: 11For he that biddeth him God speed is partaker of his evil deeds.
Verse 7. This was a false doctrine that must have been taught at the time of John writing this letter.
Verse 8. You have to work at studding for yourselves to make sure that you get the full reward.
Verse 9. You either follow the teachings of Jesus which we have given you (For us today that would be Genesis 1:1-Revelation 22-21). If you live by this doctrine you will have full grace from The Father & The Son.
Verse10.This verse is very important Do not overlook it. If anyone comes teaching you something different than we have taught you don't let them have a place of teaching, preaching, on the board, or look to them as an elder.
Verse 11 If you so much as give Him a greeting, rejoice in what he is saying, bid him God speed so much as say God Bless you. You are a partaker in his evil deeds. You better make sure you are eating the right fruit or you will be in a world of hurt with God.
