I don't usually have dreams, but I have had TWO in the last 30 years of my being a Christian.
1) The first one I was in class and they were giving the final in a class I didn't know I was even enrolled in.
2) I was trying to go up in an elevator and my best friend at the time was trying to feed me poison pills.

This is what the Lord showed me about these dreams:
1) I had become a Christian, but I had no idea about this walk of salvation. I was about to be TESTED by God to see if I had his works in me and I didn't even know that I needed to prepare because I had no understanding about this walk of salvation.

2) I was learning the TRUE WORD of God and my best friend (who I used to search the scriptures to prove the latest doctrine) was trying to keep me in bondage by feeding me false doctrines like Calvinism, etc.

Dreams that are truly from God are given in the SAME LANGUAGE that the prophets spoke in. Look at this post about 9/11. It is the same thing: http://christianchat.com/bible-discussion-forum/93590-day-lord-here-now.html#post1572122

There has been of late lots of 'Dream postings' going up so I'll repeat what I posted elsewhere...

I have heard what the prophets said, that prophesy lies in my name, saying, I have dreamed, I have dreamed. How long shall this be in the heart of the prophets that prophesy lies? yea, they are prophets of the deceit of their own heart; Which think to cause my people to forget my name by their dreams which they tell every man to his neighbour, as their fathers have forgotten my name for Baal. The prophet that hath a dream, let him tell a dream; and he that hath my word, let him speak my word faithfully. What is the chaff to the wheat? saith the LORD. Is not my word like as a fire? saith the LORD; and like a hammer that breaketh the rock in pieces? Therefore, behold, I am against the prophets, saith the LORD, that steal my words every one from his neighbour. Behold, I am against the prophets, saith the LORD, that use their tongues, and say, He saith. Behold, I am against them that prophesy false dreams, saith the LORD, and do tell them, and cause my people to err by their lies, and by their lightness; yet I sent them not, nor commanded them: therefore they shall not profit this people at all, saith the LORD.
(Jer 23:25-32)

Best stick with His Word at least it is sure.

Amen bro.

I giggled a bit when I heard you mentioned Calvinism as an ingredient in the poison in the dream (which I do agree). But since I preach love for all the people despite their denominations or belief systems (catholic, SDA, baptist, etc), I have to refrain and practice what I teach (in Christ Jesus of course).

Peace bro

Explain to me why God has spoken to prophets via dreams in the bible then? Saying God doesn't speak this way any more implies that God changes. Which goes against who God is. That dream about being in a classroom is exactly what you say it is. The gift of discernment and knowing the Holy Spirit is how we will be able to tell a false prophet from a true prophet who speaks the truth of God.

That's not to say that every dream is not from God. Many examples through the bible where people have had been given instruction, encouragement, correction and warnings through dreams. We can't just tack that scripture on dreams and ignore the rest of it. I myself have always been a dreamer and God had used dreams to divinely warn me of His existence when I didn't know Him. I still dream a lot and I encourage anyone to take note of them when they do because if God is still speaking to us through them, its for our benefit that we listen to Him when He speaks. A safe bet for sure approach to only go by scripture in our walk with God (not that anything we do should contradict what God has already spoken but compliment it) is a lack of faith, and perhaps even fearful.
I love getting a dream from God, taking it to Him and then He expands upon it with understanding :)
I say this to encourage, not discourage but to exhort everyone who lacks faith and understanding in this area to take it more seriously.. God is speaking.

Love is not overlooking doctrines oar beliefs that will cause a person to be destroyed. It es exposing them so that they have the opportunity to repent, especially in this time. Having said that, I realize it is not everybody's responsibility to do that. There are different gifts that God gtives His body to accomplish His purposes in this time.

Cross, those verses refer to those who make things up and teach their own imaginations. God does talk with us through dreams. He says also that He seals our instruction in our dreams. Let's not shut God up with misunderstanding. You know your dreams are not made up because you have them! Don't you see?

But I also want to warn: do not use dream dictionaries! And beware receiving interpretation from those not actually Christian! (Obvious, I think).

I only have stupid, nonsensical dreams. I dreamt one time that I was inside a huge abandoned house, with all-white carpeting everywhere. I had to be careful where I stepped, because if I stepped in a wrong spot, the carpet would open up and try to swallow me whole!! Can anyone interpret this dream for me?!!!! LOL. :p

I found this group looking for an interpretation to a dream. I had a deeply religious dream which is strange as I am not really orthodox anything however this dream has stuck with me, it was deeply spiritual and I am here looking for answers having no experience with symbolism and very little with the bible.
The dream begins by a small cave with a tiny stream inches wide I knew I was not alone however I couldnt see anyone there this stream ran with wine and my eyes following this stream came across a gold or copper chalice hence I am on a christian site. I knew I was meant to drink however I instantly thought that this may be blood and refused to drink. I was then told to look at the stars I know little of constellations however upon research after this dream they are real constellations. I saw a bow without an arrow, A bear, A fish and a pegasus. From there I was guided to a pear tree the pears were a vibrant light green too green and perfect they fell from the tree into a golden bowl but none hit the ground, the emotion was beautiful, from this the finale I looked up and a lotus flower dropped into my hand it was at this time I woke with a blissful feeling and I have not been able to stop thinking about it since.

1. You would be wise to avoid asking others for the interpretation of your dream. You could get a dozen interpretations from a dozen people.

2. Any dream that comes from God is also interpreted by God through His Holy Spirit. So ask the Lord to show you what this means.

3. Since you are not too familiar with the Bible, make it your top priority to read the Gospels, and begin with the Gospel of John. God speaks to people through His written Word.

I had a weird dream this morning. I was at home and decided to head downstairs during the day, around the afternoon. Halfway downstairs, I looked over the staircase to see a lioness sitting on a sofa chair upright facing forward, while a lion was resting on the lioness with his paw on her chest. The lion noticed me watching and looked at me without moving for a moment. I looked on admiring them for a moment, then seconds later the lion jumped off the sofa edge growling and ran up the stairs to come after me. Scared out of my mind, I ran back upstairs screaming for someone to help/save me. Dream ends.

People often dream about current life events. Working a lot? You'll dream about work. Mormon missionaries use this. They tell people to read the book of Mormon and ask God to show them what is true. People will dream about it and that will forever be their "proof" that LDS is the true church. "God told me in a dream."
