One thing I do not like about dogs is that... well, they smell like dogsLOL
Still, I love them
My daughter's dogs are both under 20 lbs
One closer to 20, the other more like 15-16.
They are both very lovely, eager to please, well trained (very important with dogs to let them know who the boss is) and generally a joy to be around, not to mention extraordinarily beautiful
Which breed of dog did you get?

Aww, lovely dogs! And they do look exceedingly happy and well-behaved! (My 20 lb limit is mine alone, I don't care for smaller dogs as mine. I love other people's smaller dogs). I ended up looking very hard for a dog that was intelligent and energetic, but still affordable to buy/keep, and one that would be OK with other pets. I had to look for almost two years before I found what I was looking for, but finally took my chances on a Border Collie/Springer Spaniel cross. He's ten months now, and I've been looking for signs of herding instincts, which he seems to show. I hope to teach that in another month or so
. He also shows very good guard dog instincts, patrolling the place at intervals and barking whenever he sees something unusual. He's super busy but actually not destructive! We've only had him eat one thing that he wasn't supposed to 
. The only problem we've had with him so far is his fear and aggression toward strangers coming on to the place, which I've been correcting. Anyway...Sorry! lol. His name is Bandit, btw

See?? You get it lol. It DOES seem like they know. The other thing? When they look at me with those eyes I cannot tell if they're saying "hello," "please scratch my back" or if they're calculating where would be the easiest place to move in for the kill.
Blue, if you're reading this, those orange ones up there are definitely exempt! (lol NOT).

I voted sincerely "Cats" because well I like more in that...
1.they are more house trained proned
2.they are more petable(not sure if that's a word) seriously cats don't feel rough on their fur typically
3.they are fun to play with(using strings and stuff like that to see them get silly)
4.they don't need to be walked
5.they like attention and are very comforting
6.the food and drink they eat is cheap or manageable and less to have to get compared to dogs.

Lilo is a mongrel - Rhodesian Ridgeback crossed with
Pointer and other breed possibly Beagle or Basset.
So she sniffs like a hound, chases and plays like a retriever,
and growls and barks like a Ridgeback.
Very territorial patrols the perimeter of the yard like a trooper.

Happiness is a warm puppy. Cats are OK they just keep getting mixed up on which of you are the pet. Where I live now, we have three dogs and one cat. A tom, two pit bulls and a chihuahua.

I've always thought them lovely too

They are superb. Wild like wolves and coyotes. Beautiful.I've always thought them lovely too
But illegal to own south of the dog fence.
You have to travel north way past Port Augusta and past the sheep and
cattle pastoral country - on the other side of the dog fence to be
with them legally.
In the Outback people have them as pets and camp dogs.
I have had cats and I have had dogs and I have had many of each and I have seen a lot more of each that other people owned. All cats and all dogs seem to like me.
I grew up with a blue heiler. I could pull her ears and bite her tail and she would just lie down and howl until mom came to rescue her. I think she considered me a puppy. It probably would have done me good if she had snapped at me.
I have gone to sleep many nights with a cat purring on my stomach. A cat purring is the best soporific there is... assuming you're not allergic to them.
And I have to cast my vote for cats. Cats are just cooler than dogs. I have a dog right now, but I would rather have the cat I used to have.
- I could fill up the cat food bowl and my cat would eat when she was hungry. I fill up the dog food bowl and the dog eats until the food is gone.
- I can walk outside and the cat would look up. I can walk outside and the dog makes it hard to walk because he is so desperate and needy for attention.
- If I ignore the cat for days, the cat had her own life and she would be fine. If I ignore the dog for days, the dog would start acting funny.
- If I'm busy with something the dog demands attention RIGHT NOW! If I don't give the dog attention the dog will sit there and whine. The cat never demanded attention. If I'm busy with something else, the cat has other things to be busy with until I'm free.
- Did I mention my cat regulated her own food intake? I'm mentioning it again because I thought it was so cool. Cats eat when they are hungry. Dogs eat when there is food.

My dog catches mice...does that count? The only thing I dislike about his mousing style is that he doesn't eat them...he leaves them on the doorstep for me to find barefoot
My neighbor across the street had 4 cats. Three of which were extremely friendly and would follow or go to anyone in the neighborhood, or anyone passing by.
Two of them love my front porch and lounge there at THEIR leisure. One day I was bringing grocery through the back door and one was laying on the steps, saw me coming and didn't move. I said, "excuse me, I hate to disturb you but I'd like to get my food inside." He yaaaawned and streeeeeeetched and slowly moved out of the way.
He looked like this one. With very long whiskers.
The other looked like this.
Some time had passed and I hadn't seen them on my porch or in the yard, so I asked my neighbor about them. She said she had found them dead within days of each other. She thinks someone poisoned them.
I'm not a cat lover but those two grew on me. She only has one left and he isn't friendly at all, he wouldn't go to anyone. That's probably why he is still living.
