I have never had a cat slobber on me either drool or whatever you want to call that slimy stuff coming out of a dogs mouth..... My small cat never tried to bite my ankles either.....when I would turn to walk away....

This is interesting and fantastic.....we have a cat man.....I have heard of cat lady before but it is nice to know the other gender can love the felines too....welcome to cat lovers in excess.....I have been there myself at least up to 4 in the house my daughter had 2 at one time and I had 2.....
Unfortunately 0 is the current number I had a choice between a dog and a husband I chose the husband I don't have to walk him everyday he does that on his own and he is potty trained....lol

our 29 yo daughter will holler out the kitchen window at her cat.
Kenya's sitting under the bird feeders (innocently...yeah)
and our girl yells, Kenya! stop bird shopping!
that cat's a lousy mouser, but boy can she snatch a bird out of mid air.
momma's not pleased over it, either, but she's such a sweet cat, whaddaya gonna do?

Since I am speaking to this problem. When cats do things like this it means you have invaded their space therefore they are just marking their territory..... So if the guy sleeping on the air mattress had shown the cat a little love he would not have had a wet bed....Future knowledge for those of you not being nice enough to cats......lol

Now a Shouryu, on the other hand, that's a lot tougher. Kind of like a chicken gizzard, in that it needs to be simmered for a long time or you won't be able to chew it. The best thing to do with a Shouryu is to throw it out for the dog and cat to eat. They have the patience to pick off the meat and chew it.
I prefer cats as I like clean and also that they are not that needy, but it doesnt get better than having a cat with dog personality. Cancels out any of the cats' bad sides without bringing in the dogs' bad sides.
I had one of those, Baby. I could take this wonderful white cat outside clap my hands and say lets go inside....oh,,,, he might voice his opinion about the matter but like a dog he would go inside.....would lay like a dog with his back legs stretched out behind him and also drank water out of the toilet....yuck....but the best behaved cat I ever had.....really was the last of my daughters cats that she let me keep for her since boyfriend claimed to be allergic....that was in doubt.....lol I got the benefit though of Baby's company and his feline love which he shared freely.
I should say at this point that I have known a couple of ill tempered cats in my life. But even here they are better than dogs.
For one, I have met much fewer cranky cats than I have cranky dogs. Almost all cats seem to like me. I have met a grand total of two ill tempered cats, and even one of the cranky ones finally warmed up to me. I cannot count the number of surly dogs I have met.
For two, if a cat is bad tempered he will avoid people. If a dog is cranky he will growl at and attack people. If you leave a cranky cat alone he will leave you alone. If you leave a cranky dog alone you still have to keep an eye on him.
For three, cats are intelligent. They learn from one time. Dogs, it takes a few repetitions of an experience. My mother had a cat once who was a bit peevish. I walked by and he considered me to be in his space, so he took a swipe at my leg. I ran at him like I was going to mow him down. (I don't take that junk from any animal which is that much smaller than I.) The cat became self-airborne and jet propelled, landed behind a chair and turned back to look at me like "ooookay, right. Got it." After that he and I were cool. He never came up for an ear scratch (this was the one, single, only cat I have ever met who never let me pet him) but he walked right past me and acted like I wasn't even there. He left me alone and I left him alone, even if I happened to be in his space.

Lynx... I've had the complete opposite experience.. I've only found recently or later in my life some well demeanored cats. Most I've experience to be stuck up, stand offish, skiddish, or just plain mean.
On the other hand, I've had thousands of interactions with dogs, and only a half dozen of those were bad.
On note of intelligence, science has proven some dogs to have the brain capacity of a 7-year old child. I think it depends on habbits, likes and dislikes, personality... In other words, I imagine it's a preference thing.

Lol. I suppose it depends on my mood. I don't dislike cats, but dogs will come to cheer me up no matter how I'm feeling. Part of the family I guess...and if that's true...since many cats and dogs don't get along... Perhaps they just judge by appearances. ^_~

There is a lot of preconcieved notions about cats. It is judging someone without even knowing them. Supposing dogs are selfless, loving and loyal, while cats are not so. The truth is they both want their food and shelter and treats and show love, just in different ways and they are different little persons. Imagine someone judging you and saying you dont really love them and care, just because you dont lick their face every 5 minutes or because you dont cry every time when they leave (maybe you're just happy that they're living and having fun going outside?). Btw many cats also groom their owners and my husband's cat cries every time he is leaving for work and wants to go with him. Both cats and dogs are precious! It is just a matter of what we personally prefer.
Cat will defend the person they are bonded to just like dogs do. I personally know a cat who attacked my friend's husband because they argued and in one moment he raised his hand or so (not intending to hit her, just expressing anger in body language). The cat jumped on him and tore his leg up I think he had to be sewn in ER. That cat rarely likes anybody and when guests come he just walks out. But when I entered her house for the first time, he instantly approached me and seated himself on my lap. She told me it never happens. I happened to be very distressed at the moment and he calmed me down.
As many who own cats know, their purr frequency heals. I have read an account of a girl who was sick (throat problems) and about to have her tonsils removed or something to that effect, it was very serious. Her cat laid upon her and purred and overnight she was healed. However, her cat died in a few years of throat cancer. Coincidence? I dont think so...

I also like cats because unlike dogs, they will never attack you without reason and if they are left alone.
They will never approach you on their own to do harm.

Cats may seem skittish and standoffish because you talk to them the wrong way, or because you approach them too rapidly. You know how there is a certain way you talk to dogs that they understand better? Cats have their own language too, and it's not falsetto like some try to talk to them.
