Let's just say for the sake of argument it's not a random gesture or nervous tick, I think the expression on her face tells you more about what she is thinking and the intention behind it. I think the "I love you sign" is a plausible theory, it fits the occasion, it fits the emotions playing out on her face much more than a heavy metal salute.

how about being more disturbed that they had to have a service to honor the life of a peaceful man who wanted to have respectful dialogue with those who mostly disagree with him , and also talk about Jesus and family??

no. there are different meanings to the index & pinky finger raised in gesture. the american meaning means, "i love you" & "rock on" as in music. as with anything in various cultures, people will adapt there own meaning. it only always takes 1 person to start a gesture & many will follow. certainly, erika is not using this gesture as anything evil.

many people will assent with you. the main issue may be to find out who were the 1st people to use that gesture & wha they meant. i do not use that gesture at all. but you reminded me of something in your "to NOT use" statement. & that is, once in a while when we were at parties & around people who were alcoholics & they were in the recovering mode, people would say to me, "you shouldn't drink alcohol because so & so is here & he's recovering". i would say, "this is the perfect place for him to be right now to test his endurance, strength, ability & so forth". why should the people all not drink because 1 person there is in recovering mode? no, that's not on our account.

Also it’s a discrimination against women. We have hands better designed to use all of our ten fingers when handling a keyboard. Men have so clumsy hands that they’re lucky to even be able to use a keyboard.
