The question is simple: does a Christian in the USA have an obligation to surrender weapons to an oppressive government?

This is not a useless question. The leftist government of Joe Biden and Kamala Harris are clearly trying to seize weapons, and to impose restrictions that would allow for further seizures as they please.

My position is no, a Christian does not have an obligation. Americans have a covenant with those governing them. The rules by which they derive their authority are specified in the Constitution and the Bill of Rights. One of the Amendments to the Constitution is the right to bear arms. This right was given to the American people to suppress a tyrannical ruler.

Now, Joe Biden and Kamala Harris want to take away particular weapons, using the claim of "public health concerns". Supposedly, these public health concerns have to do with deaths relating to mass shootings by criminals.

Leftists are inconsistent, though. They promote abortion, which terminates the lives of 900,000 unborn children per year, for a total of 65 million deaths since 1973. Additionally, they promote the rights of individuals to engage in homosexuality, which results in about a million deaths per year, too.

So, if they are so concerned with shooting deaths, why aren't they concerned about abortion deaths or deaths caused by promoting homosexuality, which they support?

My position is that the leadership of this country ceases to be the leadership if they try to enact legislation which denies freedom of speech, freedom of religion, freedom to assemble, and gun ownership rights. If they violate the covenant that enables them to be in control, they abdicate their position and are no longer in charge of the nation. I don't care how many leftists vote to seize these American rights.

What about you? What do you think about this? Are these rights a hill to die on? I think so.

Maybe an actually Biblically relevant question is whether a Christian is obligated to shoot at governing authorities if they didn't vote for them.
According the the Bible the current bogus president and all his bogus appointees are criminals. Fraud is a crime, and election fraud is an even more serious crime. They are illegitimately in government and doing everything to systematically destroy their country. And that is an even bigger crime.

And the Bible (the New Testament) says that criminals and evildoers should be executed. So if the courts and the law enforcement personnel were doing their jobs, no citizen would need to be thinking of shooting evildoers. They would all be arrested and executed. At the very least they would receive lifetime prison sentences.

Getting back to the question in the title. Since the American Constitution guarantees citizens the right to bear arms, any Christian who has firearms or weapons should be able to keep them without being harassed by the government. Self-defense, and defending one's family and loved ones is not forbidden in the Bible.

The Leftists and Democrats in America have used "gun control" as an excuse for tyranny over citizens. And the Founding Fathers included the Second Amendment to protect citizens from tyranny. So the first order of business should be a military coup to remove all the illegitimate people in government (starting with the Biden-Harris cabal). Then a brand new election under strict military supervision. Then a cleansing of the Swamp. So the real question is "Where are the patriotic generals who should have taken action before January 20, and should even now be taking action?"

I have heard interesting things in the last 2 days that the military is indeed acting and is compartmentalizing in order to purge the infiltration that has taken place in it before they make the next step, and that the legal President needed to allow the populace to see just how bad the deep state is to get them on board and standing up to cleanse this evil as it needs to be from the people and not from a party, this reveals to ccp-commie-dems for the evil, anti-american, anti-freedom, party they have become.

This seems to be taking place right now with the number of Governors acting against the virus scam demic and housing illegal criminals.

The two actually intersect. It is impossible to separate the two. The current political environment is due to rebellious mankind rejecting the revelation of God. Moral absolutes have been abandoned.

Your response may sound spiritual, but my position is that many Christians have abandoned their responsibility to be salt and light, and instead are hiding in their churches and homes and not speaking up against the evil of society.

You are for blending church and state. And this is against what is taught in the bible. You judge and condemn others for going against what the bible teaches but you go against the bible yourself.

Politics is a selfish endeavor. You care not for the unrighteous but only for your own interests. Jesus cared for the unrighteous, he came into the world to save sinners.

Jesus's followers are to preach the gospel message, the whole gospel message. Which is to include preaching of the coming final righteous judgement from God. But we are not to bring forth the judgement ourselves.

What you favor is bringing your own unrighteous judgement on the unrighteous yourself.
Focus on your own repentance.

Romans 2:
God’s Righteous Judgment
2 You, therefore, have no excuse, you who pass judgment on someone else, for at whatever point you judge another, you are condemning yourself, because you who pass judgment do the same things. 2 Now we know that God’s judgment against those who do such things is based on truth. 3 So when you, a mere human being, pass judgment on them and yet do the same things, do you think you will escape God’s judgment? 4 Or do you show contempt for the riches of his kindness, forbearance and patience, not realizing that God’s kindness is intended to lead you to repentance?

5 But because of your stubbornness and your unrepentant heart, you are storing up wrath against yourself for the day of God’s wrath, when his righteous judgment will be revealed. 6 God “will repay each person according to what they have done.” 7 To those who by persistence in doing good seek glory, honor and immortality, he will give eternal life. 8 But for those who are self-seeking and who reject the truth and follow evil, there will be wrath and anger. 9 There will be trouble and distress for every human being who does evil: first for the Jew, then for the Gentile; 10 but glory, honor and peace for everyone who does good: first for the Jew, then for the Gentile. 11 For God does not show favoritism.

I read your bottom remarks: "The Woke Church movement has infiltrated the Christian church, and organizations such as the Gospel Coalition, Cru, and Southern Baptist Convention"

What you say has truth to it.
But how has this happened? Its happening because they have blended church and state. They mixed church (what is to be pure) with politics (what is utterly filthy).

Mixing church and state (politics) is to combine what is Godly with what is worldly.

What happens when you combined clean cloths with dirt? Does the dirt get clean or do the cloths get dirty?

Our founding fathers spoke of how our government was meant for a righteous people, perhaps the turmoil in our politics is the result of a lack of righteousness among the governed, we are getting what we have earned from no longer giving Him the first place He deserves.

What I want to know, is why we as Christians are so easily manipulated by the propaganda machine? Especially when lie after lie are continually exposed.
Why do we remain divided while they continually erode away the individual, and faith, and traditions that have preserved us to this day?
Why do we take sides on straw man issues rather than be united so the straw men can't be easily erected?
I don't think that many Christians have any discernment.

I agree that they are compromisers. I think they aspire to being the state religion once the leftists are in total control, which may already be the case.

OK...so I suppose you think Christians should sit around and allow the left to delude the nation into blatant immorality? Christians who have children and grandchildren are to allow them to become indoctrinated in sexual perversion and godless, neo-Marxist ideology?

Were the Christians who fought against Nazi Germany and its attempt at global domination sinning by taking up arms against them? How about Imperial Japan? If China invades us, are Christians supposed to allow the enemy to rape, plunder, and murder themselves, their children, and their wives?

Should Adam have killed the Serpent when he showed up in the Garden? Actually I believe he should have killed the Serpent. He was appointed to guard the Garden, and instead he allowed the Serpent to deceive the woman, and ultimately that led him to sin, too.

I suppose your view makes sense to a premillennial mind. Some of us believe the seed of the Woman (Christ and his followers) are supposed to war with the seed of the Serpent (Satan and his followers).

Christians have freedom. They of course can vote and be politically active if they feel called to do so. But then that Christian should join a political organization, or debate club, or what you have. Politics should be kept separate from the church. A church that advocates for Jesus + Trump is contaminating the Gospel message. It's like saying the gospel message is only for those who vote a certain way. This is wrong.

Politics also contaminates the church itself. Politics is a judgmental and self-serving thing. I want lower taxes, I want less government. I want my morals to be enforced on the rest of the population. Sure I like these things too, but none of these things save.
