Or do you think Repentance is a Lifestyle?
Over the years of "Yo Yo ing" Ive come to realize that my Sin Nature doesnt go away and my sin comes from inside me. I realized that I couldnt always blame outside sources for Temptation and Failure, even though sometimes thats the case. Some time ago I committed to Staying Aware of my constant need to reform in real time. What do you think?

Repentance of “dead works” to attain or maintain Salvation is a one time thing.

Repentance of sin is not.

I wouldn't call it a lifestyle, but it is necessary when we wander off the straight path. Walking in the spirit should be our lifestyle.

Repentance and confession are often confused. Repentance is a turning from something to something else. Confession is a grieving over sin desiring forgiveness. Confession is to be done at least daily. Repentance comes when we receive understanding that we are going in the wrong direction.

IMO confession is what Catholics do to a priest. Acknowledgement is walking in agreement with God, ie, saying the same thing. Homo (same) logeo (something said)

Can two walk together, except they be agreed? Amos 3:3
If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us [our] sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. 1 John 1:9
Confess
G3670 ὁμολογέω homologeo (ho-mo-lo-ǰe'-ō) v.
1. to affirm.
2. to admit, acknowledge.

Repentance is definitely not a one-time thing. It's not really a "lifestyle" either... unless, of course, your lifestyle is replete with sin!

Repentance is the when-necessary action of returning to God from having committed a sin or having become aware of a sin you previously committed.

A lifestyle of humility before God will result in repentance when God convicts you of sin. It's good to check in with God now and then to ensure you are "good" with Him, but you also don't need to engage in the self-flagellation of assuming there is always some sin in your life that warrants repentance.

I think Sin is more about our Heart and Mind because that is where our words and Actions come from. So I geuss a better question is "Am I a Repentant Person" or do I just not Buffet the Flesh.

It should be an ongoing way of life: "Therefore bear fruits worthy of repentance," Matthew 3:8

I agree. Initial genuine repentance continues as confession.

I would say that obviously Roman Catholic confession usually means going to a "priest" and confessing your sins to him. But not all confession is like that. For example, in his letter, John wasn't talking abut confessing to a priest when he wrote to his Christian readers:

“If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us [our] sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” (1Jo 1:9 NKJV)

I don't think we should avoid the word "confession" just because it means something different to Roman Catholics.

I agree , when I know for sure that I have sinned I confess to God in prayer and ask Him to forgive me .

I thank God every day for not rewarding me in accordance with my sinfulness and , when I'm aware that I have specifically sinned , I confess to Him in prayer and ask His forgiveness .

Nor do I, but it's a personal thing with me. Acknowledge makes more sense to me and appears to be closer to the meaning of the Greek word.

I see true repentance, ia a mindset change in a person. That turns from self and others of flesh also to God in Spirit an dTruth and then start new
John 4:23-24, Son is risne where Daddy, Father, PaPa give the new life in each person that is sincere, thanks Daddy and Son as did it for us to get in, that begins Eph 1:13 to see verse 6 and 7 then Phil 1:6

I have a Sinful Nature and a Deceitful Heart that keeps me on my Knees and The Bible convicts me. Im not out there overtly Sinning like a Fornicator or anything, but I notice that I can be uncaring and sometimes live on Moral Autopilot at times. So I keep an eye on my self. Living around Buddhist Monks seems to effect me.

What bothers you about Buddhist Monks?
They dont Bother me. Its exactly opposite. We agree on a lot about how to be aware of the "Flesh" and Buffeting it. Thai Monks are very encouraging. This area is the "Way Of The Standing Buddha".

For me, repentance isn’t just a one-time thing, it’s become more of a daily posture. Not out of guilt, but because I want to stay close to God and aware of where He’s still shaping me. I think you said it well: staying aware is key.

a Christian's conscious won't allow repentance to be a 1 time thing. guilt will be present in the mind. it's simple, if a Christian sins, & we do sin, you will want to repent because you are living with the Holy Spirit for life. the H.S. will nudge you.
