Why is this so funny?? As a side note, I had a friend wake me up from a nap one time by jumping on me. So, I can actually relate to the seal.

To answer your questions - my last short hair cut (a little shorter than this one) was in January of 1995. It took about a year and a half to touch my shoulders, and I did not trim it again until January of '98, only knocking about about 5 inches off of what was about a 20 inch pony-tail. From there on out, whenever I would visit home for Thanksgiving, I'd have my mother knock a few inches off the tail every year. Post 2002, October was annually "Obnoxious-tober" because if I wasn't thinking and sat down without grabbing the tail and throwing it over my shoulder, I'd sit on it (with my butt). I've occasionally lopped a full foot off and donated it to Locks of Love. The funny thing about that was whenever I would go to the beauty school to donate, people would see the foot of hair and assume that the donor must have such short hair now...so the students would all peek around the corner to see that the donor still had quite a bit of hair! (The pic of me playing an outdoor concert was about three months after making my last donation.)
It's basically been half of my life since I've had short hair, so...although it shouldn't be, it feels a little foreign. Every time I've sat back today, I've reached back to pull my hair over my shoulder to find nothing. And when I went to the restroom at supper (Joe's Crab Shack FTW!), when I saw my reflection, I freaked out a little bit.
I'm keeping this braid. I always have the option of growing it long again, but I may not. On the chance that I go bald (my old man started going bald in his 20s, and neither of my brothers who are over a decade older than I are balding, so I think I'm safe), I can use this as proof.
I messaged photos to the old man. He showed my mother, who promptly freaked out. My church's congregation is going to have a field day. Basically, every non-family person in my life, save for three friends I still have from high school, have only known me with long hair. For some people, that's been 15-16 years. It's weirding them out more than me. ^_^

Shouryu, I don't know your hair washing routine, but after I got my hair chopped off really short after having it long, I forgot and put a huge amount of shampoo in my palm and then realized I had wayyyy too much for my short hair.

Dude, I am going to save SO much money on conditioner. With it long, it usually has been two shampoos and a conditioning, and that will probably be overkill. When people would ask why I grew it long to begin with, I would joke that I hated how expensive haircuts were getting, but it became moot because I was spending the same money to Garnier now.
I was using silver-dollar-sized blobs of shampoo before. I'mma have to cut back to like, shirt button size.

Me, too, shobro, I had long hair, past my shoulders for a year or so, it was weird, to me, but, the time in my life, I just felt out of place. Not speaking of legalism but Paul does say that long hair is not kosher for men. Again, I have had long hair and I had it at a time of my life when I was living with street people in my midst and some drug people and I just felt God's hand on me 100% of the time,total piece, and, this time was about 5 years ago . It's best we just follow Him. The LOrd leads

I'm going to cut my hair soon... but I don't know what I'm going to do with it. I always threaten to shave my head in the summer, so who knows, I may do it!

It's even worse than it sounds, since for you, it's 100+ with 80+% humidity! It was 105 when I landed in El Paso this evening, but at least it was a dry heat!
Your hair was that long and you were still only using silver-dollar sized blobs?

Well, the first shampoo wouldn't produce much lather, but after it, my hair would "loosen," so after a quick rinse, a second silver-dollar sized blob would lather it up pretty good. Now, conditioning was a different story. A single conditioning would require two blobs that were much bigger, about the size of a Gatorade bottle cap.

I couldn't resist..one last time. I came on to retrieve some more of my PM's shared over the months I've been on,just things I wanted to always have...some conversations I was very blessed by,as a memento of sorts before I am unable to access my account here any longer.
..and I couldn't resist the temptation to come to my old stomping ground of "Derailer's", just to see what's been happening.
I still can't decide if I am shocked or bewildered (wait are those the same,kinda?) at seeing this thread turn into Cosmetology 101. I think it's a good thing though. Nice to finally see some other people posting more regularly.
And for the record...I used to have hair as long as,if not longer than your's Shour..and it took me 3 Gatorade cap sized blobs to condition my mop. Not to mention I used to go through a bottle of Mendex by Roux to make sure those pesky split ends couldn't survive! lol Short hair for me isn't seemingly much cheaper to maintain,seeing as now what I don't spend on things like shampoo & conditioners..I now spend on haircuts because my hair grows so quickly. If it were up to my hairstylist,she's have me in there every 3 weeks minimum. So I pay her basically to lecture me when she cuts my hair. $20 for the cut & a $5 tip.
Anyways,that's that. I guess all my plans for an epic post farewell have gone up in smoke. LOL
I suppose you can say this was it. I realized an epic farewell post was a bit ridiculous & not needed. The people who really know me,know my heart...the people who don't..well,...meh. LOL It's all good.
God is faithful,true,wonderful & beyond merciful in His love & compassion.
In the end,living for Him is all that matters.
People's opinions & feeling come & go...but He is everlasting.
Much blessings to all who see this...& may God continue to show you all His perfect plan for your lives.
Keep your hearts & eyes on Him,and it will all work out.
If it doesn't...well,too bad. He's still worthy of our praise!
