I wonder if it would be useful or of interest for us to set up some threads for specific denominations? For example, "LDS chat" and "Catholic chat" and "Baptist chat".... Along with a request for people who are not that denomination not to come in and argue against those denominations, though of course they'd be welcome to come in and chat as long as they were polite.

I don't know if there are any LDS folk or Catholics here. I haven't ran into any. As far as I can tell, this is mostly a protestant denomination website. I, personally, am not opposed to having a place for them to congregate.
Honestly might create a lot of friction if someone starts quoting the Book of Mormon in posts or cites the Pope as God's spokesman on Earth.
There are a few Catholics here from time to time, and those with Catholic leanings, but this site overall, being that its intention is largely for Christian fellowship, and Catholicism has been identified as very heretical (by the site owner as well), what Catholics often wish to promote does not go over very well, nor does it foster a sense of fellowship.
So that people who wanted to could discuss things specific to their particular denomination.
For example, people in a Catholic chat might be interested in discussing Rosary prayers, that might not be so interesting to non-Catholics.
As a Lutheran, I would be interested in talking to other Lutherans about the recent events with the "continuing churches," about what it means to be "simul justus et peccator," or maybe talk about consubstantiation. These are probably things non-Lutherans would just say, "wha? huh?" and not be interested in at all.
Here's another example: non-mainline Christians seem to be very interested in things like pre-trib. v. post-trib. This is a discussion that is almost unheard of in the circles of mainline Protestants. We just don't even discuss that at all (in my experience, as a seminary-educated church professional, that is). But obviously it's very important to some Christians, because I see much discussion about it.
That's just three examples. I'm sure I could come up with at least a dozen more if you're interested, and that's just off the top of my head.
Well, that's exactly the point.
If someone quoted the Book of Mormon as authoritative in a general board or chat, yes, I could see how that might cause some friction, as it seems to me as well that a majority of members here are not LDS, and would find that heretical. However, wouldn't it be the loving and, well, Christian thing to do, to create a space for people who identify as LDS to be able to discuss the Book of Mormon with each other without being questioned, or even harassed, by non-LDS people?
Likewise, personally I don't put anything a Pope said to be on equal footing to the Bible, in general. But I believe that Catholics have the right to trust their Pope's words and to take them as authoritative for them. I think they might appreciate having a forum to discuss Papal encyclicals, and having a space set aside, apart from general discussions where people might not be accepting of such things, makes a heck of a lot of sense to me.
If you don't think that should be allowed here, then maybe you should suggest changing the name of this site to "Evangelical Chat" instead of "Christian Chat."

I mean, I certainly don't plan on joining the "Indian Christians" Forum. But I don't see a problem with it being here.
I don't think you could find any branch, sect, or denomination of Christianity that has not been identified as heretical by some other branch, sect, or denomination at one point or another.
Which is exactly why I think there should be a place here for such forums. Again, unless you're interested in changing the name of the site to "Protestant Chat" or "Evangelical Chat."
Again, I have a lot of disagreements with the RCC, but it's not mine to judge them as individuals.

A Christian is someone who believes that Jesus Christ is the Lord.
Catholics believe that.
They believe a lot of other stuff that is unnecessary, and perhaps even detrimental to followers. You will get no argument from me that they are absolutely wrong on many matters of theology.
But they worship Jesus, therefore they are Christian, whether you like it or not. God did not ask for your opinion or your advice.

Won't happen. New subforums are rarely made. This is purposeful to keep the options minimal and less cluttered.
Also you'd never see Catholic or LDS subforums as the official stance on those religions, by the site owners and mods, is against. And taking too strong of an pro stance pushing these can result in a ban.
I've been to sites that did this and the site was so large that most of the subforums went unused. Not enough people to utilize them.

He has chosen to not allow Catholics free rein here, nor LDS, or any other "denomination" that puts anything above the Bible (as both LDS and Catholics do). Personally, I agree with Sola Scriptura, and the other four Solas. There are sites that have such sub-forums as you desire; have you ever been to one?

The only other Christian run site I was on for any length of time was CARM. They have a multitude of sub-forums, for every denomination imaginable LOL. I am just guessing that it is every denomination, since I don't think I know them all. I did learn of new ones while there

I have not, and would like to. I actually spent a lot of time looking for Christian chat sites, and found very few. The only one besides this one that was free had extreme "boot" rules. I was booted for 24 hours for having the word "Mom" in my name. I tried to change the name, and couldn't. So I appealed, and was permanently booted. For having the word "Mom" in my name. Yeah. It was pretty dead, too. Under 100 members.
