Corporal punishment in schools. Is it time to bring back the strap?

I think "we" there was a generic "we", as in people generally did it. Not Dean himself.

Anyway, yes, I agree, without Bibles in schools, there are far greater troubles in them.

Bible says: "Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it." (Prov. 22:6.)

I'm pretty sure studies have shown that spanking kids doesn't work and leads to emotional and psychological problems later in life

End of year and still students are being suspended for fighting and other undesirable behaviour.
Most schools model a framework of positive behaviour but it doesnt work on some students. A mostly female school staff isnt helping either. Boys dont respect their authority. Its pretty disheartening to see how angry these young boys can get. I think schools are too soft on bad behaviour and most principals dont set the best standard for their schools. Some people think its abuse but you can ask the children nicely in a positive tone to correct the behaviour maybe several times or you can get the strap out and this speeds up the correction.

2 Timothy 3:1-5 Unfortunately, we cannot trust people to use corporal punishment on our dear children, though they may need it. We are living in bad times and people do not love God or his direction. Protect them from harm. We cannot do anything about poor parenting, it is the plight of this generation, Mathew 24:19, Luke 21:23 Pray to God for our undisciplined, poorly educated, mislead Children!
 
When I was in high school, a suspension counted as an unexcused absence which was 3 points off your final average in every class. For most people that was enough incentive not to get suspended

That must have been a long time ago. Children or very few now are actually trying to get in Harvard, Stanford, MIT, the top 10 etc. They don't care about grades. Most come out and can't do basic math or reading on a high school level. We are in trouble with our next generation. I wouldn't won't to pass the baton to them.

most cannot afford to go. Is the plain truth, and teachers dont invest in those who cant afford...there may be scholarships, but being a scholarship student isnt easy either.
 
If a school has a good PTA it goes a long way for educational outcomes for that school. Not all schools have PTAs.

Yeah it was three points off of your final average for every day you're suspended so if you're suspended for a week, you're probably going to fail every class and repeat the grade or have to go to summer school
For most people that was enough incentive not to get suspended
 
Would they use the strap if a child:

- Doesn't use the incorrect gender pronoun to coddle a mentally ill fellow student.
- Talks about how evil the LGBT and Allied club is
- Shares the Gospel with a fellow student?
 
If I beat my dog to correct their bad behavior that's considered animal abuse.

If a stranger beats my child to correct bad behavior that's considered a positive?

I'm not against beating dogs, either. But as GiveThanks notes, beating usually isn't the first resort. Normally, a spank is only necessary when all other options are exhausted.

If violence were not necessary, the police and military would not have guns. Sometimes, when evil is determined, force is the only way.

That's pathetic. And evil. You beat dogs and children.

I'll pray for God's protection for children and dogs in vicinity of your reach.

Our Christian schools K-12 required a signed permission form from the parents to allow paddlings. If there were problems beyond verbal reprimands, or missed recess, the parents were contacted to come in to meet with the principal. We didn't have to expell any children because of continued problems, but most of that was because of the selection process. Parental involvement and restricting attendance to those with known reputations helped the entire school experience.
