When something is bothering me it bothers me for days, weeks, months! I am extremely into the soccer, it is something i love and enjoy. I have always believed in God and believed that Jesus died for me and i always will! It seems as if when i grow closer to God and spend more time on him my confidence level goes down in soccer. This bothers me because when I don't have confidence my level of play lowers. Is he trying to tell me that I need to stop playing? Any suggestions???

well my bro is a soccer player too!! he is passionate about it! but also he is a pastor.he puts God first then soccer!and well i believe God gave yu dat ability and dat bliss on playin soccer and He will not take it away. but yu gotta put first God. Trust him. He will use u in many great ways just let him use yu. even if its tru soccer or playin an instrument, He has great plans for us!!!!! geeez dont forget dat! give Him all yur burdens and He will take care of it.. but put him first and before anything.. :) hope yu feel better

He might you need to surender all to him. He has great and mighty plans for you (jer29:11).

I don't think God is trying to tell you to give up, but maybe that He is telling you to excel even more?
I have very little self confidence sometimes, it can be triggered by anything, by someone saying something that's not even towards me, or it can just be me having a bad day. I was very shy as a little girl but slowly I'm coming out of my shell. I'm training to become a dancer and before September I was very much a 'stand at the back of class' type of girl...partly because of my weight (I'm not fat but I'm not skinny enough to be q professional dancer yet) and partly because of my dancing itself...to cut a ling story short I missed a lot of college last year because my heart wasn't in it and Ive got gall stones, which for now I'm currently trying to ignore. Anyway...I strews back at college in September, my mental attitude completely different and very much determined to make the most of my second year. I started to ask questions...how could I improve my technique? My teacher told me that I should stand at the front as a starting point...something I never did once last year. Now I'm always at the front, and I still haven't lost the weight I need to, I just lift my focus a little and ignore it for now as the only thing I can do is tell myself it'll only be a temporary thing if I do something about it. The other thing that's really helped my confidence is breakdancing. We had a workshop with a professional breakdancer for three classes and for some strange reason it just really helped me...I was also very much a 'I'll look stupid if I add attitude to my dancing' which I knew was the complete opposite but from those workshops I constantly add attitude in street dance because my confidence has grown. I'm not sure if I've got the right end of the stick but if I this is what you mean then I'd suggest maybe taking some break dance lessons, it's been a great way to break those barriers for me, I felt a difference after the first hour

If it's any help, I understand completely. I have played classic soccer for the last four years, as well as highschool. You didn't mention whether you were playing club or classic or whatever, but I'm assuming that you probably are. The thing about playing full-time soccer is that it somehow takes up a whole lot of your life. I know that I have had seasons where i missed every other Sunday church for a morning game, and I haven't been to youth group since my team started practicing on Wednesday's about three years ago. Not such a good thing. That may not be how your soccer works out, but it sure has been my experience. So yeah, when I'm close to God, I would rather be at the beach with the highschool group than playing soccer in the rain. And I know that god wAnts me to follow through on commitments, but you also know that he might rather you had different commitments in the first place. I think that is enough to make anyone feel a little less certain about anything that isn't direct ministry to him. I think you should acess whether soccer is getting in the way of your relationship with god. It might not take you away from loads of church. It is for me, and that's why I'm not planning on going back to classic next year.

I'm going to tell you the ugly truth. Sports are in a way evil and that is why getting closer to God creates conflict in your heart. The one thing the romans loved was their sports because it is like war. There is no mercy, no compassion, just full-force attacks with the goal of defeating your opponent. You have to be like a terminator, perform like a well-oiled machine and have no feelings for the enemy. You know its really a war and it is not a war fought to defend innocent people or to crush an invading army, its just a war for personal pleasure and excitement.

I do like football though. :)

One thing you can do is tell yourself you are playing for Christ. He has given you all the talent and abilities you have and wants you to use them. Look at it this way, you can play for Christ knowing that when you become state champion or whatever he highest goal is, and people ask you how you got so good, you can give all the credit to God and by this you will be a shining example to others.

Am a soccer player too. But well for me, I always pray before I start playing a match. And God gives me the confidence i need. I suggest you dedicate your talent to Him.
