Here’ are some passages teaching us that Christians
need to continue to repent of their on-going sins …

“Now I rejoice, not that you were made sorry, but that your sorrow led to repentance
… For godly sorrow produces repentance leading to salvation, not to be regretted …”
(2 Corinthians 7:9-10)

“But let your “Yes” be “Yes,” and your “No”, “No” … lest you fall into judgment
Brethren, if anyone among you wanders from the truth, and someone turns him back,
let him know that he who turns a sinner from the error of his way will
save a soul from death and cover a multitude of sins.” (James 5:12; 19-20)

Surely, there is no guarantee that verse 12 refers to eternal death.
But, re: verses 19-20 … does God kill Christians who continue to sin?
… Absolutely NO! So, this must refer to eternal (spiritual) death.

If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins
and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” (1 John 1:9)
John is writing to Christians …
I’m assuming that those who confess their sins are also repenting of them!
Doesn't make much sense to confess sins ... and then continue doing them.

Wow, okay, if I continue to repent, I will attain is what I hear you say in this post, might not be what you have meant to say, yet it does say that
For me when God took all sin out of the way through Son at that cross done once for us all, "It is finished" what is finished? Being under Law
Yet having to repent over and over and over again again is under Law, and keeps people in sin, in pride and guilt, that is not of God the Father of the risen Son Jesus
Romans 7:10 is truth at least I see this truth now after years being under Law in Pride and quilt to pride only wow, I am nt it, nor is any other flesh person. We once knew Christ in the flesh, today no more as said in 2 Cor 5:16

Might want to ask God to purge you from sin as is done for you in Son to you in being risen for you to be risen too Hebrews 10
Under Law under a curse, The Law is not the curse ourself flesh is that curse

HB, confession of sin at conversion is only the beginning of our relationship with God. The relationship between Believers/Christians and God may be viewed as having three stages.

The first stage is the moment of conversion or repentance (ACTS 20:21) just mentioned, when a person “plugs in” to the power of God’s Holy Spirit by accepting Christ Jesus as Lord. Because a person’s commitment to Christ is in accordance with God’s perfect will and the response of yielding to His calling (1TM 2:3-4), the moment of spiritual baptism fulfills the command of Ephesians 5:18 to be filled (cooperate fully) with the Spirit. For Christians, this stage occurred in the past historically and grammatically; we were saved when we repented and accepted Christ.

The second stage is spiritual growth, which is also referred to as maturation (EPH 4:13), discipleship (ACTS 14:22) or sanctification (2THS 2:13). Grammatically it is present progressive, and historically it is the process of being saved now. This stage has two phases: instability and maturity. Although a new Spirit-filled convert has access to all of the power he/she needs for loving like Christ (EPH 3:16-19), no one attains immediate “perfection” by remaining filled with the Holy Spirit forever (PHP 3:12). Instead, the combination of temptations, ignorance and the old selfish nature results in immature saints committing their first post-conversion sin(s). Then he/she no longer is spiritual or filled with the Holy Spirit but rather is acting like unsaved unbelievers (1CR 3:1). This “venial” type of error differs from the “mortal” or damning sin of unbelief or apostasy (rejecting God’s Lordship, cf. JM 1:15).

As soon as a new Christian realizes a sin was committed, he/she should confess it (1JN 1:9) rather than compound it by trying to hide it or cover it up like Adam and Eve did (GN 3:7-8). Then God will forgive, and the saint will again be in a Spirit-filled or spiritual condition. This spiritual flip-flopping might happen once a day, or it could occur several times in an hour. While this instability may be bad, failure to confess promptly is much worse, because it results in chain-sinning or back-sliding. This condition is also referred to as being carnal/worldly (1CR 3:1) or prodigal (LK 15:13) if it continues for weeks or years.

Unfortunately, some people may not appreciate the process of being renewed morally or as Paul says (in RM 12:2) of being “transformed by the renewing of your mind”, perhaps because it involves admitting sins or having “guilt trips”. It is not guilt that is bad; rather whatever one is doing that makes one feel guilty. Guilt is like a warning light on a car’s instrument panel that lets one know something is wrong. Until we have the wisdom to welcome God’s “guilt trips” like we do warning lights, we will never feel the satisfaction of becoming a new and improved version of ourselves. Hopefully, we will never reach the point where we are so callous that we experience no guilt when we do wrong. Warnings are good!

Some have the idea that you do not have to repent but only ones because Jesus did it all for us. A half-truth is a lie.

Each Christian is saved, being saved, and will be saved. This means all who name Christ as Lord and Saviour are in daily relationship with the Lord. We are being renewed each day by the word of God. We must put on the Mind of Christ and the Armor daily.

Philippians 2:5-11

5 Let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus, 6 who, being in the form of God, did not consider it robbery to be equal with God, 7 but made Himself of no reputation, taking the form of a bondservant, and coming in the likeness of men. 8 And being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself and became obedient to the point of death, even the death of the cross.

9 Therefore God also has highly exalted Him and given Him the name which is above every name,

10 that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of those in heaven, and of those on earth, and of those under the earth, 11 and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

Ephesians 6:10-18

10 Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might. 11 Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. 12 For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places. 13 Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.

14 Stand therefore, having girded your waist with truth, having put on the breastplate of righteousness, 15 and having shod your feet with the preparation of the gospel of peace; 16 above all, taking the shield of faith with which you will be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked one. 17 And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God; 18 praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, being watchful to this end with all perseverance and supplication for all the saints— 19 and for me, that utterance may be given to me, that I may open my mouth boldly to make known the mystery of the gospel, 20 for which I am an ambassador in chains; that in it I may speak boldly, as I ought to speak.

These are verbs that we are to do each day as we are in the Sanctification process. Yes, God is changing us each day. We have not yet arrived. The Flesh is unsaved. And in me there is no good thing

Roman 7:18

For I know that good itself does not dwell in me, that is, in my sinful nature. For I have the desire to do what is good, but I cannot carry it out.

The Holy Spirit in the believer is leading us, guiding us, and bringing into remembrance all that Jesus taught. We must renew our minds daily

Romans 12:2
2 Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.

It is not a sin to be tempted. It is a sin to be a willful participant in the temptation. Only when Lust has taken root in you can you be overcome by temptation and drawn away, as James 1:13-15 states.

13 Let no one say when he is tempted, “I am tempted by God”; for God cannot be tempted by evil, nor does He Himself tempt anyone. 14 But each one is tempted when he is drawn away by his own desires and enticed. 15 Then, when desire has conceived, it gives birth to sin; and sin, when it is full-grown, brings forth death.

Your heart is not right with GOD; therefore, you are overcome by the one who has your heart. and IF your heart is filled with Darkness, that darkness is pumping into your very life in every area. You must shine the light of God's word and ask HIM to expose those things that have roots in your heart and be set free from it.

Cain talked with GOD before and after he killed his brother. Cain has a relationship with GOD. God warned Cain that Sin was at the door, and as a crouching Tiger, it seeks to take you. Don't let IT; you must master it. Cain had a part in obeying GOD and HIS word to have victory over this. He failed.

And so will we IF we do not
1. Submit to GOD

2. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.

therefore each person needs to rightfully divide the word of truth
The word of Truth is Love God's type not flesh nature type
God's type 1 Cor 13:4-7, 13
it is the Love of God to all through Son that saves and over came evil first
John 16:33
These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.
The more anyone sees this truth for them from God to them, the more willing will one be to hear truth personally from God for them and stop sin, never by their own doing, no one can, only God can and did it for us by Son to us each to see and grow up into maturity to see to not accuse and excuse anything anymore trusting Father in love to all that is all folks, thank you

the idea no one stops singing means you continue to live a life of Homosexuality, drunkness, adultery, and fornication, which is not Biblical. Those who start out that way and live by walking in the Spirit WIll not fulfill the lust of the flesh. We can live a victorious life, and not, oh woe, is it me? Every time I have sinned after being saved, I choose to do so.

So true, that is called growing up in grace given you from God Father through risen Son's done work for us all, each personally between God and them, these kids continue daily to see new and stand in trust to get through it all to God Father and Son for them, these kids are those that will not give up on belief to the done work of God for them in risen Son to them, given them this truth from Father alone will see each through and these new kids will stop sin too. Yes, Yes, Yes. Taking no credit for the self as I know in past I have and many others as well are going through this perplexity too, Each knowing this in themselves, that when done preaching the truth about God to others and self. Afterwords behind closed doors one goes into whatever it is that besets them, and does whatever is wrong in their own self again in hate of it, yet does it anyways, does not get it and gets angry over it (Romans 7) explains this truth to me anyways. This takes time to see Col 1:21-23 as truth to us all, even though we all do and have sinned again, not liking it, yet perplexed in continuing to do it, not wanting to do it, yet do it.

For me the new me from God started, when I got convinced, he did (Jesus) did take away the sin of the whole world in his one time willing death for us all to see and believe it, God approved it in raising Son from the dead. Never to take this truth for granted and use it for any self gain ever as is being used today by many on purpose, yet not all. That in each Epistle that is addressed, just not seen as the whole, ever since Chapters and verses got added. this made a whole new view for each reader to see and conjecture stuff that is not true
God id it, I accept and seek to learn it from God not me or anyone else as Paul did that first too
Did not go to any flesh and blood Galatians tells me all about that to see Gal 2:20 as trust fro each and everyone of us, to learn new and continue too, knowing it will take time to get through what one anyone knows is not right for them to do or continue to do, will eventually stop it, if
one will settle it in themselves by God they are forgiven and remain forgiven by God in Son alone in thanksgiving and praise, not using this truth for any self gain as said in James you ask, you do not get, why?
That is personal between God snd each person going to God in beleif to God in risen Son for them too
God will do Roamns 14:1-4 in each person, thank you trust 100% no matter what and continue to not want to sin again nd vibe willing to learn new in how not to, taking no credit for self in going it, God gets all the credit or it is not of God

But only daily live in the present second each day. For not one other person can predict any future event, not perfectly ever.
that is why Paul said this in Phil 3:1-15 to put past behind him, continue in. that to see you let go of the troubles besetting you, thank you

Believers who have accepted Jesus as Lord and Savior have had the enslaving chains of sin broken by His death, burial and resurrection. This does not mean Believers can sin without repenting afterwards, it means that the precious blood of Jesus is always there to cleanse those who are faithful to repent.

We come to the Lord as we are by believing the word of the Lord and obtaining faith from Jesus upon our turning to him in repentance. We then are indwelt by the Holy Spirit, who has come into the world to reprove the lost for their sin, which leads to salvation and the faithful to transform into righteousness.
Jn 16: 7-11:
Nevertheless I tell you the truth; It is expedient for you that I go away: for if I go not away, the Comforter will not come unto you; but if I depart, I will send him unto you. And when he is come, he will reprove the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment: Of sin, because they believe not on me; Of righteousness, because I go to my Father, and ye see me no more; Of judgment, because the prince of this world is judged.
Jn 17: 17:
Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth.
Eph 5: 26-27:
That he might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the word, That he might present it to himself a glorious church, not having spot, or wrinkle, or any such thing; but that it should be holy and without blemish.

This process of transformation begins after we're born of the Spirit and have been made partakers of the Holy Spirit. We've been translated from the kingdom of darkness and into the kingdom of light. We begin our journey to an outwrd righteousness that is to reflect the inward righteousness that has been inputed into each of us by our faith in Jesus and his incredble sacrifice of love; as babes-in-Christ.
Col 1: 13:
Who hath delivered us from the power of darkness, and hath translated us into the kingdom of his dear Son:
Rom 12: 2:
And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.
Rom 4: 11:
And he received the sign of circumcision, a seal of the righteousness of the faith which he had yet being uncircumcised: that he might be the father of all them that believe, though they be not circumcised; that righteousness might be imputed unto them also:
Heb 5: 12-14:
For when for the time ye ought to be teachers, ye have need that one teach you again which be the first principles of the oracles of God; and are become such as have need of milk, and not of strong meat. For every one that useth milk is unskilful in the word of righteousness: for he is a babe. But strong meat belongeth to them that are of full age, even those who by reason of use have their senses exercised to discern both good and evil.

A weakness for each one of us can be seen in Jas 1: 13-15:
Let no man say when he is tempted, I am tempted of God: for God cannot be tempted with evil, neither tempteth he any man: But every man is tempted, when he is drawn away of his own lust, and enticed. Then when lust hath conceived, it bringeth forth sin: and sin, when it is finished, bringeth forth death.

We can escape this weakness by controlling our thoughts.
Rom 8: 6 NASB:
For the mind set on the flesh is death, but the mind set on the Spirit is life and peace,
2 Cor 10: 3-5:
For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war after the flesh: Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ;

The evil one's minion will attack us by putting an old sin into our minds. This, in itself, is not a sin as we have no control over being attacked, but if we take this thought and allow it to play out, that's when we allow ourselves to be enticed by it. When someone says, "don't look down," the first thing most of us do is to look down. So to resist this mental attack, rather than strive to not think about an enticement, turn your thoughts to a memory verse or get into the scripture and think upon that. Let's ensnare ourselves with the word of the Lord instead. The evil one will flee when we resist him; not just leave or run, but he will flee!
2 Pet 1: 3-4:
According as his divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue: Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust.
Jas 4: 7-8:
Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you. Cleanse your hands, ye sinners; and purify your hearts, ye double minded.
Prov 6: 2:
Thou art snared with the words of thy mouth, thou art taken with the words of thy mouth.

Our goal is to grow from babes-in-Christ into spiritually mature believers and then to go on from there; to walk after the Spirit; for when we walk after the Spirit, we will be able to deny the lusts of the flesh. A sign of one who walks after the Spirit is that they will posses a joy unspeakable and full of glory, attitude. They'll also posses an increasing empathy for both the lost and for their fellow brethern in the body of Christ. As they minister to those in need, an anointing of the Lord's presence will slowly grow, making them to be someone who is full of the Holy Spirit and power as the seven were, who were appointed to wait upon the Grecian widows there in Jerusalem. Peter, whose shadow healed those who were touched by it, devoted himself to the ministry of the Lord's word and to prayer.
2 Pet 2: 2:
As newborn babes, desire the sincere milk of the word, that ye may grow thereby:
2 Tim 3: 16-17:
All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works.
Ps 119: 11:
Thy word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against thee.
Ps 119: 9:
Wherewithal shall a young man cleanse his way? by taking heed thereto according to thy word.

Set aside time for daily devotions in the scripture and make a prayer list of those who are on your heart to bring to the Lord daily too.
Jas 5: 16:
Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.

With respect, you're dead wrong on this (bolded). It leaves you with the ridiculous dichotomy that you either live a perfect life after repenting (and that means not even having an errant thought a single time) or you're a profligate sinner.

Reality is much more complex, and sanctification, while legally complete in Christ, is a lifelong process in the Christian. That's why John tells us to confess our sins... because they continue!

I never said in my post one can or does do that, even though there are those that do that
You not seeing what is said, you go ahead and sin again, and ask for more reconciliation given to you her Son for you?
To repent and be sorry is a good thing, a good conscience to God Father in risen Son for us all.
To sin and turn to God in prayer, and ask God for more forgiveness to get given you fro sinning g again is asking God to send Son back to earth and do it all over gain. That the first time in his willing sacrifice was and is not good enough,. We need more forgiveness, that shedding of Son's blood does not cover it, is what one is saying to God, when one sins again. As I have, oh boy
I used to think that way, I had to get more forgiveness.
yet when I saw, "It is finished" (John 19:30) and saw what Jesus came to earth (Matthew 5:17) what he was here to do, and then said he did it, and then gave up his ghost and went to spirit prison to preach to them there then in purgatory then. Then risen own that third day, as Won forever for us to choose to believe egod in this risen Son for us or not and be freed from Sin as Romans 6 tells me we are, in belief to the done work for us, we then learn to not sin by the choice belief that will not stop, no matter what troubles happen to us. The book of Job, reveals truth in this to not deny God no matter what, thanks
Repent is to change one's mind from first birth to new birth in belief to he is risen where new life is given, finalizing the cross of Son for us to be new by Faith in the risen one given us

I do not see anyone saying this at all. When we ask for God to forgive us of a sin we have done as a Believer in Christ we are not asking or saying what Christ did was not enough. We are placing our faith in the work of the cross that is for us today and every day. As we grow in the grace and knowledge of the Lord.

Those who make such statement are not seeing what Jesus said on the Cross or what it means when Jesus said

John 19:28-30

28 After this, Jesus, knowing that all things were now accomplished, that the Scripture might be fulfilled, said, “I thirst!” 29 Now a vessel full of sour wine was sitting there; and they filled a sponge with sour wine, put it on hyssop, and put it to His mouth. 30 So when Jesus had received the sour wine, He said, “It is finished!” And bowing His head, He gave up His spirit.

"It is Finished."

Jesus said this, which means in Greek, a Debt has been paid in FULL. All past debt, and future debt paid in full.

My Debt has been paid, but I still must confess I owed a debt I could not pay, and it was paid by one who did not owe it.

The Holy Spirit, a resident living in the Believer, his JOB is to convict of sin. There are sins of omission and commission.

James 4:17

Luke 10:30-37

Matthew 25:44-45

Romans 7:18-19

We are to search our hearts Daily to see what?

Hebrews 3:12-14 NLT

Be careful then, dear brothers and sisters. Make sure that your own hearts are not evil and unbelieving, turning you away from the living God.

You must warn each other every day, while it is still “today,” so that none of you will be deceived by sin and hardened against God.
For if we are faithful to the end, trusting God just as firmly as when we first believed, we will share in all that belongs to Christ.

That's why John tells us to confess our sins... because they continue!
until Father in Spirit takes them out of you, without pride in your way anymore, accepting reconciliation, standing in thanksgiving and praise daily to see presently only, no more past or future getting in the way as is taught by flesh nature, Grow in this grace given us, continue in thanksgiving and praise and see sin washed away by Father and Son for you too. Not, that I got it, God does Phil 3:1-20
God is good all the time as good is God all the time

... having to repent over and over and over again again is under Law,
and keeps people in sin, in pride and guilt,
that is not of God the Father of the risen Son Jesus
Gee, your opinion is wonderful ... but what about the verses in the OP?

News Flash
Christian forums are filled with people's opinions,
butski most of them refuse to deal with the Scriptures!
IMO, this is a most sad state of affairs indeed.

Some have the idea that you do not have to repent but only once
because Jesus did it all for us. A half-truth is a lie.
As we can see from the OP, once is NOT enough!

therefore each person needs to rightfully divide the word of truth
Yes, but a Moderator elsewhere calling himself something like "Right Divider"
has a great difficulty doing just that ...
He says the Word was Jesus from the beginning of creation.
So, I said his translation of John 1:14 must be ...
"... and the Word (Jesus) became flesh-human-Jesus."
A cute trick, if you can do it ... yourself becoming yourself!

I did not see any Moderator chiming in.
