2Ti 2:24 And the servant of the Lord must not strive; but be gentle unto all men, apt to teach, patient,
2Ti 2:25 In meekness instructing those that oppose themselves; if God peradventure will give them repentance to the acknowledging of the truth;
2Ti 2:26 And that they may recover themselves out of the snare of the devil, who are taken captive by him at his will.

Most take Paul's instruction to Timothy at face value as to how to deal with contentious believers. However, embedded in this is an idea that we should make sure we are not the one in the snare. For us to examine ourselves, true humility is essential.

Many come to teaching through exposure to a denominational seminary where one is presented with a "package" of doctrine that is not to be questioned. However, questioning is essential to learning and growth.

Self-reflection and questioning are not often considered because we can be resolute in our belief. This is the key to a snare. Jesus warned his disciples against hypocrisy not so much as being deceptive was wrong, but more that self-deception was a prison from which one seldom escapes.

The snares Satan has used often have our vulnerability to the flesh as critical to keeping us captive. One measure of this is the degree to which we manifest pride and vanity. If we respond to others with contempt or mockery do we not show our own self-righteousness.

Christian Teachers Need Self-Reflection

i certainly agree with that -----and they need more than just Self Reflection ---they need to be Born Again ----as many --many are not and are trying to teach Spiritual Lessons through their Worldly Tainted Spirit ----spewing out False Doctrine and sending their flock to their Doom ------

You don't have to be Born Again to become a Christian Teacher and any Joe Blow can enter A Seminary School and have Unborn Again Hands laid on them and become a so called Ordained Christian teacher ----which is very sad for the people who are listening to these So Called Ordained Christian Teachers who are preaching without Jesus and the indwelling of the Holy Spirit guiding them ----

And then you have some Born Again Christian Teachers ---Preaching only the soft parts of the Scriptures and leaving out the Hard to Swallow Scriptures in fear of loosing their Flock and having no money come in to keep the Church going -----

and----- Most Christian Teachers follow the man made up lectionary for their sermons instead of Praying to the Holy Spirit and have Him direct what their sermon should be for that Sunday or any day they preach ---they prefer the Easy road for their sermons----when the Holy Spirit already knows who will be in the Church and what they need to hear ----the lectionary hasn't a clue who will be in Church on any given Sunday and what the Teacher picks may fall on deaf ears --and be fruitless to the people in the pews ------
