The New Testament is used by many to justify the things they do and say. But the New Testament gives us a lot of direction on what to say and what not to say, what to think about and what not to think about. Yes, we are to speak the truth, but we are to speak the truth in love. That is a key criteria. You can announce that Charlie Kirk has died, that is the truth, but if you do it while cheering as TMZ did that is not love.
We are told in Titus to speak evil of no man.
James 3:8 But the tongue can no man tame; it is an unruly evil, full of deadly poison. 9 Therewith bless we God, even the Father; and therewith curse we men, which are made after the similitude of God. 10 Out of the same mouth proceedeth blessing and cursing. My brethren, these things ought not so to be.
So yes, the New Testament stands against being held in fear by the Prince of this world who censors speech. But at the same time we are told to censor our own speech. You cannot tame your tongue, the only way to deal with the unruly evil is to get a new heart.
