We do not know whether Jesus spoke in Aramaic or in Greek. That is just your convenient supposition. Jesus could have called him Simon bar Jonah while He was speaking in Greek, as our present GREEK text does. Jesus did not want people to make the mistake you make of exalting Peter. And the Gentile area in which He was speaking to His Apostles may well have been Greek speaking. Furthermore Galilee itself was multi-lingual. But THE INSPIRED TEXT MAKES THE DISTINCTION so it does not matter which language it was in. The inspired text brings out the distinction.
I am well aware of that, but the inspired Greek text demonstrates what Jesus really meant. We have no way of knowing whether Jesus said Cephas or whether he said petros. BUT WE DO KNOW WHAT THE INSPIRED TEXT SAYS. IT DISTINGUISHE PETROS FROM PETRA. This could only be because petra indicated the statement that Peter had made. Petros would have been an equally possible word to use. It was used in current Greek. But the inspired text chose not to do so!!!!
As I have shown the two words clearly have distinctive references.
I struggle to find this in my Bible. Is it in a new Book your church have forged? But even if it was true why should a foundation rock mean Peter?. To me it suggests the Scriptures. In Matthew the rock had previously referred to God's word (Matt 7). That is the rock on which the church is built as it was expounded in Peter's statement.
Your arrogance knows no bounds. Neither history nor tradition can tell us what language Jesus was speaking in. But history does tell us what the inspired word said!!!! So that is all that we need to know to understand its meaning. The very name Caesarea Phillipi points to Greek usage. But as I say it is irrelevant. We have the inspired word.

The True Church is not the Catholic Church for many reasons. In Ephesians chapter 2 God clearly tells us the True Church is Jesus Christ and not the Catholic Church.
Ephesians 2:19-20

[SUP]20 [/SUP] having been built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ Himself being the chief corner stone
In verse 20 God clearly says that Jesus Christ IS the Corner Stone. This reveals to us that Jesus Christ IS the Rock on which the Church was built on.
1 Corinthians 3:11
[SUP]11 [/SUP] For no other foundation can anyone lay than that which is laid, which is Jesus Christ.
1 Peter 2:6-8
[SUP]6 [/SUP] Therefore it is also contained in the Scripture, "Behold, I lay in Zion A chief cornerstone, elect, precious, And he who believes on Him will by no means be put to shame."

Do you Catholics realize the Wrath that God has for you when you die? Would it be better to humble yourself before God and Repent of your sins? Repent and reject Mary as the God of your life and return to the Truth in the Scriptures from God before its too late!

You will never get it. The inflection in the passage can only lend itself to Christ being the foundation of the Church. This inevitable conclusion is supported elsewhere in scripture. Paul said as much when he wrote that other foundation can no man lay that which was laid Christ Jesus. 1 Corinthians 3:11

you are so right. Even in Matthew PETRA is used elsewhere. Guess where? When speaking of the foundation on which the wise man built his house (Matt 7.24), and that consisted of hearing the words of JESUS.

The pope does not claim authority to save and condemn. He's more humble than that and he knows better than to claim the power of Christ. This board seems to claim that power and authority with boldness.

The way I see it, you just used your so-called "pure" understanding of Scripture to claim the authority to issue condemnation. The Pharisees did the same thing. I do not recall Christ coming to condemn the world, nor to do so based on understanding of scripture.
