Secondly, let me know how you feel about teachers who molest kids. Are you forbidding your education as a result? I'm guessing not so much.
What's your point ? ... Fact remains, there's none greater... but you make that list as if Peter was " the greatest "... Peter was wrong, as desiredhaven said, Paul rebuked Peter, most of the New Testament written by who ? Paul... Some where in 2 Peter, Peter even states this, and says some of Paul's wisdom is hard to understand, and that the untaught, will distort scripture to their own destruction ... Something to think about..
For example, when you "re posted" peter's arrest, you left out the part about being rescued by angels. You also left out Peter walking on water.
have to watch you at every turn
So it looks like I am in pretty good company.I suggest you consultElin said:Yep. . .Jesus said you are a small rock and on the massive stone I will build my church.mattp0625 said:so Jesus said: you are Peter, and I build the church on myself? It's a theory, but not one based on scripture. Problematic for Sola ScripturaElin said:I'm thinking Jesus made a distinction in Mt 16:19 between Peter (petros, small rock) and this rock (petra, mass of rock) because this rock is Jesus himself (Mt 21:42;
Eph 2:20-21; Ac 4:11; Ro 9:32; 1Pe 2:6)
on whom the church is built.
It is the body of Christ, and no one else on earth, which
has the keys to the kingdom of heaven; i.e., the gospel, binding and loosing, in the preaching of the gospel, what has been bound in heaven and what has been loosed in heaven (Jn 3:18, 36).
Jesus used two different words, petros and petra, for a distinction between Peter and the cornerstone of the church.
your beloved early church fathers. Of those
who spoke of Matt 16 forty four said that the rock was the statement Peter had made that Jesus was the Christ the Son of the living God, eighteen said it was Peter and
seventeen said it was Christ.
Not if you're Sola ScripturaLooks like I am in pretty good company.
LOL now how would that make him a leader? he sank in the water and failed why should an angel letting him out say anything? You clutch at straws. But then that's all you've got
Sir- If you have knowledge of God and power to condemn. Please tell me the date of the second coming. Thank you.
Also- no one "worships" Mary. Protestant false accusation. It's asking for prayers. Big difference and already covered.
We are the church, " body " show me where Jesus talks about stuffing billions of dollars away in vatican, or a library where ordinary folks can't visit, or carrying in a pope like some king on velvet... Show me where he said to persecute the Waldenses , show me anything, and talking about forgiving sins and retaining them, didn't Jesus answer this with " forgive your brothers 77x7 ? ... Show me where Jesus said to infiltrate Christians, marry and make them catholic.. Show me how a mostly Protestant America " upon founding " became catholic ... Maybe Jesuit agendas ? It's in black and white, people talk... Show me where Jesus says pray and worship amongst muslims to while your in the good book appreciate it.. MattIts a significant point. J the baptist died well before Jesus. He had nothing to do with forming the church. The whole discussion is about apostolic succession and the church
Um- most Vatican wealth is comprised of historic real estate and art. Thats not the same as dollars or any other currency
thats just for starters
the assumptions aren't working, friend.
So it looks like I am in pretty good company.
Yes, Scripture is the only spiritual authority which I accept.Not if you're Sola ScripturaElin said:I'm thinking Jesus made a distinction in Mt 16:19 between Peter (petros, small rock) and this rock (petra, mass of rock) because this rock is Jesus himself (Mt 21:42;

Looks like I am in pretty good company with this understanding. . .some of the church fathers.
Actually yea, if you research Vatican equity.
The actions of one does not the Vatican make.
Have you ever sinned? Does that sin of the individual define your whole family?
If they are Biblical, I would definitely consider them my company.Your probably right about your company, its even nicer to be able call all of the Church Fathers your company. Specifically St. John Chystostom, St. Athenasius the Great, and St. Gregory of Pallamas to name a few. You know scripture well enough, thats obvious. You should read the lives of these men. Consider it fullfilling Heb 13:7
Show me where I got it wrong ? Did I say John the Baptist wrote revelations somewhere ? ... Deflect, I guess that all you guys are good at, I'd eat your food any day on the subject, so facts are stated others can do their do diligence and get the facts, most here know already though ... Don't know why your defending it, it's your choice though..Dude, first get John the Baptist right. Then we can have a fruitful discussion
