I particularly like to sing songs where I can hit high notes. I find this satisfying, as if it's therapeutic. Unfortunately, I've found that I sound most like Tiny Tim lol. I used to imitate him often until one day my dad told me, "It's disturbing how you sound just like Tiny Tim. Please don't do that anymore."
so phunnneee! indeed, truly, singing is therapeutic. i learned how to sing to cure my asthma & it worked. it's in an older posting of mine. no more asthma! actually, i'm not a singer, probably never could be, but i sing for the same reasons you do. if i'm in an off mood i sing driving down the road & i tell you, so refreshing it is, it just takes the unsettling mood from you & scatters it in the atmosphere! you remind me of a friend of mine who took vocal lessons & his teacher taught him that you can never learn how to hit a higher note than you already can hit. i flat out told him i didn't believe it. 1 week later, i was hitting higher notes.

I used to work overnight with a lady who liked listening to a station that played 70s music. It wasn't really my kind of music. It was disco and I'm more of a rock and roll person. I'd still have fun though. We counted money and processed checks all night. She'd do the set down job and I'd do the stand up job (she had limited mobility and I liked being able to move around). Anyway, whenever You Make Me Feel Like Dancing by Leo Sayer would come on, I'd turn into Leo and hit all the high notes. Meanwhile, Lucille was enjoying the "concert" and giggling hysterically. I kinda think she couldn't wait for Leo to come on the radio! I'd also do this with the Bee Gees, but I seemed to be best at Leo Sayer. It's probably terrible that we had so much fun during the nights we worked together lol.

no, no. it must be a great memory. my favorite music is the 60's to 80's rock. i like almost anything out there except rap. winter time, it's Bach, Beethoven, Rachmoninov, Tchaikovsky, Strauss, Mozart, Brahms, etc. & old. country music. my fav to drum to is any rock that is difficult to play: Zeppelin, J. Tull, Deep Purple, Yes, etc. you are smart to sing high because it's tougher to do so. off to drumming right now CarriePie.

I really enjoy rock from the 60s-80s. Though, I do like some 50s rock and back in the 90s I was really into grunge/alternative rock, I still listen to it.
After the turn of the century, it was hard for me to find music that I enjoyed. Eventually, I did find lesser known bands that did psychobilly/rockabilly that I liked. So, I'd make playlists of them mixed with some horror surf music and use it to workout to.
But, when it comes to singing, the older stuff works best for my voice. Another friend I worked with got to experience my singing one day. This time it was Patience in the likeness of Axl Rose (particularly that part toward the end where he's belting out the notes in a really smashing way). She looks at me and says, "You really sound like Axl!" That's really nice and all, but I've also been told I sound like a cartoon character

You actually have musical talent! You can play the drums. I have zero talent with instruments...and except for a few singers that I've mentioned, I mostly sound bad when I sing lol. It's a lot of fun though!

another similarity between us. axel is tough to copy. you probably are better than you think! i'm hardly into music past the 90's. my former g.f. got me into Christian rock around late 2013. 1 reason axel rose is so talented is because his mother had him take opera lessons when he was a kid. my brother & i did well for the local area. some bands i was in toured. we had the big truck to haul the equipment, soundmen & lightmen. we're on 1 45rpm, 2 albums & an mtv video. i was thinking about recording a solo because i'm mostly retired now. summer is to busy for my wife & i. but it wouldn't be til winter arrives again. i'm not a real singer either. my brother said when i sing along with a song, i'm okay, otherwise not talented.

I didn't know that about Axl! Interesting.

I hope for the best if you record a solo! It sounds like a great adventure!

If I could do Whole Lotta Love in the likeness of Robert Plant, I might consider that I have something going on. Sometimes it comes out better than other times. I try a lot of other songs/singers too. I live alone, thus I often sing out loud. There's no one around to be annoyed lol...so, I just keep making life fun, especially with the high notes.

wow! we used to play the SRTS version of "whole lotta love", a 1973 Madison Square Garden concert!
