What does the Bible teach?
The Bible teaches what you FWers reject, contradict, and deny. Man's will is enslaved to sin. Jesus sets us free.

Freewill.png

"Free will" in the Bible? ~ Freedom is something believers are called to (Galatians 5 verse 13). We need Jesus to “set us free” (Galatians 5 verse 1). If Jesus has not freed us from the bondage of sin, then we are still slaves to sin (Romans 6 verses 6-7). Freedom is found in the presence of the Spirit (2 Corinthians 3 verse 17). Only Jesus can give us true freedom (John 8 verse 36). Only through His lovingkindness can we truly make choices unfettered by a nature that is inherently hostile toward God.

The free will camp assumes, with no supporting text and contrary to many verses that evidence the opposite, that the man of flesh is free to choose, and will believe, that which he can neither receive nor comprehend, and to which he is inherently opposed with his uncircumcised heart of stone. There is simply no getting around the fact that this is the core of their belief, and it flies in the face of what Scripture actually teaches about the natural man who is a slave to sin and lover of darkness refusing to come into the light, blinded to truth and under the power and influence of Satan: he serves the law of sin which brings forth fruit unto death, not life. Without the indwelling Holy Spirit of God, his incurably wicked heart cannot be changed. He hates God, rejects the light, and hears the gospel message as foolishness. Praise the Lord if He has set you free!

So says this.....

unbiblical.png

Despite what the un-Biblical free will doctrine promoters put forth, the natural man does not have everything he needs in order to grow the good fruit of faith from the stony ground of his incurably wicked heart which is opposed to the things of God, and he cannot change himself, being a lover of darkness who suppresses the truth in unrighteousness as a slave to sin, being inherently hostile in his mind toward God, and blinded to the truth while under the power of the evil one. Those who promote the free will of the natural man reject a plethora of Biblical truths. Praise God if Jesus has set you free!

People with free will can be wrong—but they can also examine, reflect, repent, correct, and change when confronted with truth. That only makes sense if they have the ability to change their mind.

But the person who denies free will has no such ability.
Grokked it.....but a decent result for the most part.....
Key takeaway: Free will repentance is certainly Biblical, crucial, and commanded, implying innate ability to respond positively.

**************************************************************************************

Here is a systematic overview of how the Bible (primarily using the KJV) expresses the idea of “change your/their mind” — what we often call repentance or turning. The concept appears in both Old and New Testaments, using different Hebrew and Greek words depending on the nuance.

1. Old Testament (Hebrew terms)

The main verbs are built on the root שׁוּב (shuv) = “to turn back, return, turn around” and נחם (nacham) = “to be sorry, console oneself, repent, change one’s mind” (often used of God).

Passage (KJV) Hebrew term Literal sense How it is translated in KJV

Ezekiel 18:30שׁוּב (shuv)“turn yourselves”“Repent, and turn yourselves from all your transgressions”

Joel 2:12–13שׁוּב (shuv)“turn … with all your heart” “turn ye even to me with all your heart”

Jeremiah 18:8, 11שׁוּב (shuv)“if that nation … turn from their evil” “turn from their evil”

1 Kings 8:47שׁוּב (shuv)“if they … repent” (literally “turn back to their heart”) “and repent … and say, We have sinned”

Jonah 3:8–10 (Nineveh repents)שׁוּב (shuv)“turn every one from his evil way” “turn every one from his evil way”

Exodus 32:12; Jonah 3:9–10נחם (nacham)God “repents” = changes His mind “And the LORD repented of the evil …”

1 Samuel 15:29נחם (nacham)God does NOT repent/change His mind “will not … repent: for he is not a man, that he should repent”

Key observation: In the OT, human repentance is almost always שׁוּב (shuv) — a turning or returning to God — while נחם (nacham) is usually reserved for God “relenting” or “changing His mind” about announced judgment.

2. New Testament (Greek terms)

Two primary verbs are used:
  • μετανοέω (metanoeō) — literally “change the mind” (meta = change + noeō = to perceive, think)
  • ἐπιστρέφω (epistrephō) — “to turn around, turn back, convert”

Passage (KJV) Greek term Literal sense KJV rendering

Matthew 3:2; 4:17μετανοεῖτε (metanoeite)“change your mind / repent”“Repent ye: for the kingdom of heaven is at hand”

Mark 1:15μετανοεῖτε (metanoeite)“repent ye and believe”“repent ye, and believe the gospel”

Luke 13:3, 5μετανοῆτε (metanoēte)“except ye repent”“except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish”

Acts 2:38μετανοήσατε (metanoēsate)“repent and be baptized”“Repent, and be baptized every one of you”

Acts 3:19μετανοήσατε … καὶ ἐπιστρέψατε“repent … and be converted/turn back”“Repent ye therefore, and be converted”

Acts 17:30μετανοεῖν (metanoein)“commandeth all men … to repent”“now commandeth all men every where to repent”

Acts 26:20μετανοῶσιν καὶ ἐπιστρέψωσιν“that they should repent and turn”“that they should repent and turn to God”

Revelation 2:5, 16, 21–22μετανόησον (metanoēson)“repent” (imperative)“Repent”

2 Corinthians 7:8–10μεταμέλομαι (metamelomai)“regret, feel remorse” (not full repentance)“though I made you sorry … I do not regret it … godly sorrow worketh repentance”

Matthew 21:29, 32μεταμεληθείς (metameletheis)the prodigal son “repented” (regretted)“ afterward he repented, and went” (but the publicans “repented not” in v.32 uses same verb)

Important distinctions in Greek:
  • μετανοέω (metanoeō) ≈ deep change of mind and direction toward God (the main NT term for repentance unto salvation).
  • ἐπιστρέφω (epistrephō) ≈ the outward turning or conversion that results from metanoia.
  • μεταμέλομαι (metamelomai) ≈ regret or remorse (used of Judas in Matt 27:3 — “he repented himself” KJV, but he did not come to salvation).
Summary table of the key terms

Concept Hebrew Greek primary Greek secondary/nuance Typical KJV translation Human repentance / turningשׁוּב (shuv) μετανοέω (metanoeō) ἐπιστρέφω (epistrephō) “repent,” “turn”God changing His mindנחם (nacham) (rarely used of God)—“repent,” “relent”Mere regret or remorse—μεταμέλομαι (metamelomai)—“repent” (KJV) but weaker

So when the Bible says “change your mind” in the sense of salvation, the dominant NT term is literally metanoeō — “after-think, change your mind” — rendered in the KJV as “repent.”

Revelation 22 verses 11-13 ~ Let the unrighteous continue to be unrighteous, and the vile continue to be vile; let the righteous continue to practice righteousness, and the holy continue to be holy.” “Behold, I am coming soon, and My reward is with Me, to give to each one according to what he has done. I am the Alpha and the Omega, the First and the Last, the Beginning and the End.”

I'm not sure which parts i asked whether it should be seen a moral free will for you to have, I asked whether it was his will being planted in you.

For me I understand what your saying, and you can see the morality in his will,
But to be perfectly honest with you
I know atheists which say The bible is just a book of human morality, that just expresses normality and morals
No joke friend I'm serious

I understand and I love atheists, which is why I begin the website logically rather than biblically and build a case
for what I call the Propensity Principle (PP) in Part IV:

Another insight I would like to share is what I call the “Propensity Principle” (PP). The PP points out that until proof is provided in the future at the eschaton, humanity’s existential need and desire for eternal life and ultimate justice (the duo of desirables or DOD) make it logical for truthseekers to have a propensity to hope and believe a God who provides the DOD exists, to determine the most credible revelation of God’s requirement for attaining heaven, and to cooperate with His revealed will. IOW, it seems logical–given the existential facts of death and imperfect justice–that an unbiased truthseeker would have a propensity to hope the Christian view is correct, because there is no better (credible and desirable) way of attaining the DOD than NT theism. This PP restates Pascal’s wager in terms of reasonable comparison shopping (with all belief systems) instead of lucky/blind gambling.

The PP employs linear logic (rather than circular reasoning) to propose faith in the NT God as the best belief that solves the maze of reality as follows:

1. Current scientific knowledge cannot explain how the universe came to exist by means of natural causes, thus it is possible that the cause of the universe is a supernatural Creator/God.

2. The most creative species is humanity, whose traits also include language, moral conscience and God consciousness (personality), so it is possible that these human traits reflect attributes of a God who created humanity.

3. Existential reality indicates that humans are mortal and life is painful, but when life is happy, one wishes it would continue indefinitely. Thus, it is rational to seek ways to become immortal in a heavenly existence (where there is love and justice for all forever, the DOD).

4. Comparing all possible ways of achieving the DOD, the best or most credible way/hope at this point appears to be the God who resurrected Christ Jesus.

5. When words from God are sought, the NT teachings of Jesus and Paul seem to be the most highly inspired when compared with other scriptures (including the OT), because its concept of one God as the just and all-loving Judge (rationale for morality) is spiritually highest or most advanced, and the evidence for the resurrection of Jesus is most credible.

6. Thus, it is appropriate or wise to believe in the NT God and to accept Jesus as God’s Messiah.

Atheists deny the validity of this argument, but in the absence of disproof, I find the decision to reject the biblical gospel of salvation from selfishness, spiritual death, and a miserable destiny to be illogical or foolish. This is why all truthseekers should agree on NT theism now rather than assume atheism is an unlucky guess.

As someone has said, heaven is like a vision of water in the desert: the scoffer will surely die where he/she is, while the believer will live if right. Again, however, this analogy should be viewed in terms of comparison shopping and logic rather than of blind faith and fear. True love for God is evoked by His love for humanity and is a reflection of His loving Holy Spirit (1John 4:7-12); it cannot be coerced, although it can be imitated (2Cor. 11:14 calls Satan an “angel of light”). Heaven may not be a mirage!

A biblical illustration of the PP is the OT story about Naaman being told to bathe in the dirty Jordan River to cure his leprosy (2Kings 5:10-14). The Naaman Example teaches us not to let sinful pride prevent us from being cured of spiritual sickness by methods we think are silly or do not fully understand. Some people might not understand why God ordained Messiah to atone for humanity’s sins, so they think the Gospel seems foolish or silly (cf. 1Cor. 1:18-25). However, they accept physical reality without necessarily understanding very well how it works (cf. John 3:8), and Jesus said that those who seek salvation will find it, which indicates that God graces every sinful soul with the ability or opportunity to understand how to be saved (Matt. 7:7, cf. 1Tim. 2:3-4), which might be called “seeking grace”.

Those who reject the PP (and Naaman Example) apparently employ a logical fallacy that might be called non praecedere (comparable to non sequitur), making an unwarranted conclusion which precedes unknown facts, namely the cause for the universe “banging bigly”. Atheists assume a natural cause will be discovered, but their assumption is premature and thus inappropriate.

This still doesn't answer whether it's God's will that is planted.
Your idea of having moral free given to the unsaved is a concept, that is not proven.

What part of the will of man lives in the flesh should be moral and free to the lord in an unbeliever ?

God delivers his word to all people in ways that are out of your control.

Whilst you can make it inviting to reason with an atheist, sadly the only one who can truly is God instructing there conscience and condemning there conscience,

He will save then with his living fear that will convict them and condemn them,

Then what all atheists do is they start to question God whilst still in rebellion.

Telling them they have free will is actually doing them more bad than Good.

They are a slave to sin

I do not believe it is a good thing for God to harden the heart. I provided all the uses of the word sklērynō and showed you that it is not a good thing for God to harden the heart ... nor is it a good thing for people to harden their hearts.

I love you ... but you and I are not in agreement concerning this issue.

.

Really? Even when such hardening works for a greater good, e.g. God's gracious rescue mission of the ancient Hebrews from Egypt which He accomplished by hardening Pharaoh's heart?

If someone denies free will, they immediately step into an irrational position. The most important question is always: What does the Bible teach? But when we read Scripture, we still have to use reason, logic, and rational thought to process what we’re reading.

But when someone denies free will, they are really saying everything is scripted—every thought, every belief, every conclusion. And if that is true, then the person can never justify the validity of their own belief.

Why?

Because if everything is scripted, then the only reason you believe what you believe is because you were scripted to believe it. You could be scripted to believe something entirely false, yet feel absolutely convinced it is true.

That’s not reasoning.
That’s not conviction.
That’s programming.

It’s like writing a character in a novel who sincerely believes that 2 + 2 = 5. He believes it with passion. He argues it. He’s absolutely convinced. But he’s wrong—not because he reasoned incorrectly, but because the author scripted him that way.

If you deny free will, that’s your position. You can never say, “My belief is true,” because you could have been scripted to believe a lie. And when someone falls back on, “Well, I believe this because I read it in the Bible,” the same problem remains—you could have been scripted to misunderstand the Bible, to misinterpret it, to believe error while being fully convinced it is truth.

Deny free will, and you destroy the possibility of knowledge. There is no rationality left. No accountability. No meaningful belief. No moral responsibility. No persuasion. No repentance. No learning.

And here’s the irony: The statement “Don’t put human reasoning over the Bible” is itself an act of human reasoning. You cannot escape reason. God designed us to use it.

People with free will can be wrong—but they can also examine, reflect, repent, correct, and change when confronted with truth. That only makes sense if they have the ability to change their mind.

But the person who denies free will has no such ability.

They cannot choose to examine.
They cannot choose to correct.
They cannot choose to believe.
They are locked in whatever script they think God wrote for them—even if that script is error.

That position is not just unbiblical.
It is irrational.
It is self-defeating.
It makes truth unknowable and belief meaningless.

But the bible calls it grace! Tell me: When you were a kid, did your parents ever impose their own will upon you? And when they did, did you think they were tyrants, fascists, bullies or monsters?
