This doesn't answer the question: on what basis does God punish unbelievers if their sins are paid for and He has accepted the payment?

This is why the unbeliever will have his works searched by God and be found wanting.

Then they asked him, “What must we do to do the works God requires?”
Jesus answered...
“The work of God is this: to believe in the one he has sent.” John 6:28-29

That one single 'work' will not be found when the book is opened!

It is the ONLY work God accepts!
Not, by works! (plurality = religious invented systems)

That answers it.

But, some will play stupid and keep asking the same questions anyway,
because they take great pleasure in annoying those whom they are jealous of.

Thank you for the analysis, doctor. You see it all began back when I was a very young poster - just a baby really. My parents used to make me sit read mean posts over and over again, night and day, to toughen me up- kind of like Marine Corps boot camp but for young posters in training. Well, over time, it just made me crazy, and I guess I've never fully recovered from it even to this day.
How much for this session, doctor, and when can we meet again?

You qualify for any discounts?

Unbelief is a sin that you say has been paid for. That sin has been atoned for according to you. Punishing unbelievers for their "works" of unbelief is no different from punishing them for unbelief. Again, a distinction without a difference.

That means you are misunderstanding something, if what He says is so, you see as unjust.
Is it just to accept a payment for something and then still hold someone accountable for the thing that was paid for?

I don't require an explanation; simply yes or no please.

In the case of a person not believing in the One God sent?

That would be blasphemy of the Holy Spirit.

It is the only sin that can not be forgiven.
The one sin that Jesus could not pay for.
For He can not reject Himself!

Blasphemy of the Holy Spirit, as described in the Bible, is considered the one unforgivable sin.
It's not a specific action, but rather a persistent, hardened state of rejecting the Holy Spirit's conviction
and work of drawing individuals to repentance and faith in Jesus Christ.

Its good to have reason to explain these truths.
For that, I thank you.

I require an explanation as to why you insist it must be a yes or no.

God

1 John 3:1 Behold, what manner of love the Father hath bestowed upon us, that we should be called the sons of God: therefore the world knoweth us not, because it knew him not.
.

So...being "sons of God" doesn't require believers to be sons or daughters of Abraham? What happened to the Abrahamic Covenant: It got flushed down a sewer?

Someone who is secure in what he believes does not sound hostile and defensive like you just did...

Just in case you did not know that.

Then why are you so defensive with Cameron when he has asked for a simple "yes" or "no" answer to a question. Why do you want to know his rationale? Why do you "require" this? Why aren't you transparent and honest and just give him the answer he asked for?

That's incorrect. That isn't what blasphemy of the Spirit is.

Talk about someone having an ultra high opinion of himself! Jealousy would be the last thing I would ever associate with your handle.

And, the 'Mr. Contrarian' prize of the week goes to?

Cameron Swayze.

He sways all over the place.
Read the passage yourself. Jesus says the blasphemy of the Spirit is attributing His works to Satan rather than the Spirit.
I would like to agree with you but you keep getting things wrong.

You can't even handle simple concepts?
And, you demand that?
I haven't demanded anything. I simply asked you a question and asked you to please answer in a particular fashion. I suspect you don't because you would have to admit I was correct.

Proverbs 14 v 6, Proverbs 29 v 1 ~ A mocker seeks wisdom and finds none, but knowledge comes easily to the discerning. A man who remains stiff-necked after much reproof will suddenly be shattered beyond recovery.

Well you got one right!

Which shows you are capable of getting things right.

No excuses for you.
