Proverbs 26:2b (ESV)
2 Like a sparrow in its flitting, like a swallow in its flying, a causeless curse does not alight.

Despite the derailment. For the readers do not get entangled by the fear of curses or that somehow you have fallen into condemnation/ the judgment curses. You are made causeless under the atonement of Christ.
there is definitely spiritual oppression that comes from the Devil, and i’m experiencing this right now. i have loads of anxiety and stomach issues (nausea from anxiety), and it’s interfering with basically everything. i’ve prayed so much for a breakthrough. i know the way to break the cycle is to stand on the Word of God. it’s just hard. my mom’s side of the family has a “curse” of anxiety. her family is Christian, and i feel like i’m the one who needs to break the “curse.” Jesus, help us all

Yes there is spiritual oppression and we do not have to live in that condition. I'm not going to ask you for details because no matter what is going on, there is only one solution and that is in the Name of Jesus. I would be more than happy to help you in person, which is most likely impossible, but may I recommend a book that I think you might find very helpful in understanding how to deal with your situation? There was a time in my life years back, when I was going through a difficult time and even though I went to a few different pastors for help, they just brushed me off and told me that Christians could not be bothered by demons because well, we are Christians.
That is complete nonsense and not what scripture tells us about the enemy that hates us because we belong to Jesus. Then I came across the teachings of Derek Prince, who plainly exhorts from scripture the truth about the enemies we face and sadly, too often those enemies are people who think Christians are saved and that is all there is.
The title of the book is 'Blessing or curse, you can choose'. The author, again, is Derek Prince. I too prayed and prayed but it was not until I dealt with the problem the way Jesus Himself tells us to do....cast them out/away, there was no solution. Please note I do not believe Christians are possessed but they can certainly be bothered or harrassed (such as you are describing). Further, the term "possessed" as translated in many Bibles denotes the person is possessed, which means 'owned by.' The devil cannot and does not own those who are in Christ, but sometimes Christians are dealing with things others have passed on to them or have done things that have opened themself up to being harrassed.
You have the same authority as Jesus Himself to break the cycle and be free in His Name. I pray you are able to to do so.
Can you explain how someone could fall under a curse? You referenced Derek Prince so I assume you might have some ideas about this. In other words, what specific action could one take to fall under a specific curse? And if you think we can, through a particular action acquire a particular curse, how would we then get rid of it?
Buy the book I recommended. I am not about to write a complimentary copy. Thanks
Aren't we cursed already? From one man sin, Mr Adam?
I am quite familiar with Derek Prince and his positions on curses. He never made biblical arguments to support the practice of curse deliverance in the way he framed the subject. I refer to him as Mr. Anecdotal. He cited story after story of how people were healed, prospered, had families mended—but never provided a single example of curse deliverance anywhere in Scripture yet managed to slip in a verse or two to give an aroma of orthodoxy. He was kind of the Harry Potter of charismania.
He was very big at categorizing which types of curses follow which types of sins, as many others do from the curse deliverance camp. The problem with this is that James said,
“For whoever keeps the whole law but fails in one point has become guilty of all of it.”
James 2:10
I went through the entire New Testament to find the word ‘laws’ and could not find an example. Donald Barnhouse compared the law to an inflated balloon. A pinprick anywhere is an infraction upon the whole system. How then are these curse experts able to decide which curses result from which sins since one sin breaks the whole law? The answer is they can’t.
The attempt to break curses is not a biblical practice. That is why there are no examples found in Scripture. It is a very popular subject that sells a lot of books, attracts large audiences, and falsely raises the hopes of hurting people; it just isn’t a biblical subject.
Derek prince was very big on curses derived from so-called idols, symbols and physical objects. Also, he asserted that curses can be passed down to children via the Freemasons. (The Freemasons are a cult, and no Christian should be involved with them.) But on every dollar bill there is a Freemason symbol. Dollar bills are physical objects exhibiting a pagan symbol. Did Derek Prince tell people not to give dollar bills in the offering to avoid passing on curses? Did he put his money where his mouth was? What kind of example did he set regarding money? Did he follow his own advice?
I believe Derek Prince was a Christian. However, he fell into deep error in the shepherding movement although commendably he eventually publicly repented of it. He was quite intelligent and therefore an example of how anyone can be fooled by going beyond what is written. Sadly, curse deliverance was his next extra-biblical adventure, and his false teaching is still leading people astray years after he passed.
Jesus never broke or spoke of breaking curses. Neither did any of the apostles.
So let me guess, you have the cessationist version Bible? The one where God is just as human as the rest of us? I figured that which is why I did not comply to your obvious line of questionning.
You have badly twisted what the book is about and Derek Prince renounced the Shepherding movement many years before his death. I actually don't care how your opinions hurt you; but I do care about believers who cannot understand why they cannot seem to break free and live the life promised in scripture. I won't engage you again so write what you want; you are responsible for what you tell others as are the rest of us.

Nope, not a cessationist. Tongue speaking Pentecostal here.
