What's the point of bodybuilding at this time?

Either the rapture is very close (in this case bodybuilding wouldn't make sense cause in this short time you cannot transform your body) OR the rapture is still far away (in this case we have faaaar larger problems than getting in shape).

Either way it makes no sense. :(

Maybe some people like bodybuilding because they enjoy it. Everyone needs a pastime or a release, for some that could be bodybuilding. I've found that working out is as much good for my mind as my body...sometimes even more good for my mind.

Also, it has benefits for stronger bones, better mobility, etc.
I'm not including unhealthy bodybuilding! I'm only talking about sensible bodybuilding.

I know people who are into bodybuilding who are Christians and I see nothing wrong with it (again, as long as it's not unhealthy bodybuilding!).

In any case...as Paul says, whatever we do, do all to the glory of God.

Taking care of the Temple of the Holy Spirit!
You are a wonderful witness!
bless you in Jesus name:)(y):coffee:

I've been wanting to get into bodybuilding for a long time but I have no idea how to start. Any suggestions?
Body building or body sculpting?

Consider the differences.

Sculpting involves toning the muscles and defining your natural body shape.

Body building involves the same idea but with the addition of adding bulk to your muscles through increased weights lifted against muscle resistance.

Whatever you choose remember to always stretch before and after exercise.
This decreases the chance of injury and increases your opportunity of success.

Congratulations on you chosen pursuit!
You will have fun!
I had a lot of fun strength training till I started tearing doors off stuff.
Finding our you can grow muscle at cut excess at the same time is awesome.
best wishes:)(y)

yes. DO NOT START WITH WEIGHTS OF ANY KIND. for 2 weeks, do nothing but stretch. your whole body, all muscles. start slow & increase slowly to maximum stretch. eat & drink properly. since it's summer time, sugarless Gatorade is proper. when stretching, NEVER BE TENSE, be happy. your mind relates to muscle activity. your body should be very limber, loose before stretching & exercising. when you start with weights, the most important issue is NEVER HOW MUCH WEIGHT YOU CAN PRESS OR LIFT, it's always your form & technique. learn slow motions with proper breathing. during the pushing, pressing & lifting part, you are exhaling, going back to position, you are inhaling. example: when bench pressing, on your way down you are inhaling, BEFORE you press up, start exhaling! develop a timed rhythmic breathing pattern for all exercises, ALWAYS! be joyful & happy when lifting, it's much more enjoyable & comfortable & you'll have the least chance for injury. blessings to you.

Pardon me, but this made me laugh as I envisioned something like this scene.
I aspire to such strength! lol

reminds me of the mafia guys in the old days. they used to go to junk yards & practice ripping off car doors.

Apologies if it is against the rules to post in older threads. But I recently learned that it is the last 5 or so reps before failure that promote the most muscle growth. I tend to aim for 10-15 reps, with the last rep being my failure point.
i 2nd the motion on that. professional weightlifting friends of mine told me that a while back.

As a person who is not a bodybuilder in any way, all I can say is when you do leg pressing reps do NOT lock your legs. Especially when you have a very heavy load. I saw a video that very sadly showed the result of leg locking (I won’t show as not to frighten you) and it basically resulted in both his legs breaking back under the weight. Your muscles may be strong enough, but your bones are not.
sounds like the same one i saw last year. also, a guy was doing curls for biceps & he pulled both bicep muscles concomitantly!!!

Many of the problems with aging come from loss of muscle mass, weight training helps that a lot. I offered to arm wrestle anyone at my 50th class reunion, I got no takers.
a friend of mine a while back who was the skinniest guy out of all of us always won at arm wrestling & there were some big strong men that competed against him. the guys father taught him tricks, like where to squeeze real hard.

My advice is to forget about it, as it'll cause problems in later life...

Eat sensibly and exercise (walking) regularly...
that's a defeatist attitude! it is a proven fact that people who exercise are happier people, stronger, in better condition & sometimes smarter.
