It seems to me that each time I see a cardinal, the mate is almost always nearby! Maybe it's just my imagination!

They are territorial. When I started, I had one pair. There were three pairs this spring. Yesterday, I counted 15. The females tend to socialize somewhat when they eat. The males have a pecking order. When they leave the feeders, each pair goes to a different tree.

I plan to put out camera feeders next year.

I have a hummingbird camera feeder. I have enjoyed watching the tricks used to get the guard bird away from the feeder.
