It is my understanding that it is part of the duties of all four Cherubin to surround the throne of God. Why the ark showed only two of them without naming those two is certainly a mystery that scripture does not solve.

Then let's agree to disagree. In Ezekiel 1, those Cherubim are carrying the throne, none of them is "covering" the throne with their wings, while in Isaiah it was the Seraphim flying around the throne.
