We're not invested enough in the game to dig through 1&2 chronicles. I'm barely invested enough to go dig up my kings of israel and judah cheat sheet and that says that the most likely candidates are : Jehoshaphat (he did have that promise from above going for him), Joash, amaziah, azariah, or Jotham and about the only ones of those I can tell you anything about are joash and jehoshaphat. Is it possible you study the kings more in Finland than we do here in the US?
Correct answer: Joash.

God had promised David that the throne would remain with his descendants. When Athaliah seized power, all the royal sons were killed, except for Joash. He was rescued and hidden in the temple.

Joash was raised and protected by the priest Jehoiada and his wife, who took great care of him. Through their actions, Joash was crowned king. At first, everything went well. He was faithful to God and organized the collection of money to repair the temple.

Later, however, things changed. After Jehoiada died, Joash listened to bad advice and turned to idol worship. He even ordered the death of Zechariah, the son of Jehoiada, who had helped raise him. This shows great ingratitude and moral failure.

One thing I have learned is that implying that those who engage with you and can't figure out your riddle are stupid or inferior is going to make people stop engaging with you realy quickly.

That was not what I meant at all. I realize that I expressed myself poorly, and I understand why it came across that way. English is difficult for me, and I can see how my words were misunderstood.

What I meant was that it sounded to me as if Lynx thought the riddle would be impossible to solve. My point was simply that I believe there are people who could solve it, especially if they are familiar with the Old Testament. I did not mean to imply that anyone who could not solve it is stupid or inferior. I am sorry for this.

Now that you've explained it, I can see where you're coming from, but I find those connections too loose to be a good riddle.

But let me return the favor by getting out my bible trivia book (and yes you're getting expert level questions):

When the men fled from Ai
I knew I was in trouble
For stealing treasure that wasn't mine
I'm buried beneath the rubble

And the next riddle:

When I carried money to our brother in jail
His spirits were high as the sky
He wasted no time to scrawl out his thanks
To my church back in old Philippi

oops I sort of broke the theme, mine are not limited to the old testament

Paul was the NT riddle. I remember the dude who took stuff, clothing and an idol if I remember it, early in the book of Joshua.

But I have to say, coming late to the part, that Engblom's riddle was really good. I was running the list of kings that screwed things up, like Jeroboam for instance, or Saul - called by God but falling back on their own devices. That was a good reminder, even if the correct answer was Joash. There are so many great lessons in that area of history in the Bible! Well done, Engblom.

The first one is Achan. The second one is Paul, as @AnOldLady already pointed out.

@Caan is correct. Paul was the brother in Jail but Epaphroditus is who is mentioned as bringing the gifts.

7 peoples from 4 lands,
Yet, by one name
All called me then,
what is My name?

Where is the snake?
It serves to show that the old serpent, the devil, was acting through him. In short, it indicates that he was evil. I needed a word that would rhyme with “this,” and “hiss” fit. People who betray those close to them are also often referred to as “snakes.”

That was really stretching it. The riddle promise a serpent. I feel cheated now.

Ok only thing I can think of is at the end of I think it's genesis 5 where it's listing the descendants of seth and then said that at that time people started calling on the name of the LORD. So I'm thinking it's LORD or YHWH. That's my best guess.

There was a man whose legs gave way due to fear.
And he didn't learn from his grandfather's sins.

My Grandson was a king but he locked me in a dungeon !

If my wife had had children by me , I might have had to kill them as if they were my enemy !

David , he never had any children with Saul's daughters . Just before his death , despite promising to not do so , he had all of Saul's direct descendants killed . Including Saul's daughters children to her first husband . If David had had children with either of those two sisters , well , it doesn't bear thinking about .
