Does England have beans & cornbread? Chicken or seafood gumbo or other regional dishes based on local gardens and previously supplemented by imports from South America?

England doesn't have too many ' national dishes ' so to speak . Being an island , the UK has always enjoyed fish but not too many different varieties .
Thinking about it , most of the really popular food we enjoy has been absorbed into British life from other European countries , we do love pasta and pizza , we love potatoes cooked in many different ways . We love bread , lots of different kinds .
It does depend also on what generation u r from . People my age and older love to cook proper meals from scratch , shepherd's pie , roast dinners with Yorkshire pudding , stews etc . The younger ones seem to favour ready meals and take aways now . My step daughter , just a few years ago , so she would have been about 24 years old , texted her dad to ask him how to boil an egg ! She and her wife ( yes I said wife 🙄 ) sent us a photo of their Christmas Eve buffet , pizza and deep fried frozen things , no cooking at all .
It's no wonder so many people r obese now . Hubby and I r definitely overweight but not obese and I do cook from scratch quite regularly , we don't eat take aways . Three of hubby's five daughters from previous marriage r overweight / obese and they r all under 30 . Not great but , they all work so don't have time to cook , that's how they c it 🤷 . The world changes a lot from one generation to the next , that's for sure .

Thank you very much for your perspective as a native Brit and for being such a good sport!
I have known someone who traveled there and loved the food. I suppose that everyone would eat differently if they preferred.
Unfortunately it sounds like the younger generation has gone the way of the SAD lifestyle here in the states. SAD stands for Standard American Diet. It's the practice of eating out, eating processed food, sugar beverages and convenience. It keeps big agriculture and medical industries most profitable.

One English lady who moved here has an herb and vegetable garden. She started martial arts in her 60s and continues into her 70s, so the stereotype is not actually relevant. She does enjoy her tea though. That IS as stereotypical as her accent. 😄

That said, when I saw the short, I could not resist posting it! 😄

Exactly!
I think the generational traditions that parents pass along to their children are quickly lost. One of the most important are traditional marriages that provide good examples of conflict resolution. Another is home making especially meal preparation from whole foods.

Do you have any favorite English/UK dishes?

Well I wouldn't claim my food is better than that of a whole nation.... but I am trained in the culinary arts. 2nd degree black belt even.:geek:

Are you Gordon Ramsay?
I heard that he might be a black belt in culinary arts and karate.

What ethnic dishes are your specialty?

I was just joking about Ramsay, but I am into martial arts and food too. Are you second degree in culinary arts like This< or are you trained in martial arts too?

I actually never eat salads in restaurants. Only cooked or grilled vegetables. You think they wash that salad you're eating? Nope!

West Virginia isn't on that list because the Health Departments weren't investigating reports.
The Health Department head of the restaurant issues refused to investigate my complaints about rancid sea food and horrible food poisoning I suffered. They are totally worthless.

The same goes for a southwestern Pennsylvania county. Someone asked a nurse who worked at a Health Department why she had a chronic cough. She said that she had tuberculosis! She sounded worse than Doc Holiday smoking cigars over a hand of cards.
