I recall one book that I never finished reading was about a guy that loved MOnopoly so much he went around all the streets of London that were on the monopoly board investigating their history and asked to play Monopoly with a prositute on Old Kent Street

Would the "pass go and collect $200" be like tax refunds? At least, here in the US. Not sure if that's a thing in other countries...

Yes this is mainly a U.S. thing which is why odd expressions such as ”Death and Taxes” exist only in US which nobody outside of the US culture gets because it’s such an odd combination of words.
But my favorite board games are backgammon first which I love, then some card games and a bit of chess.
Not a board game but a new card game I learned was DogMan. Good for children aged 6-10 and easy not too complicated.
There is a Dogman board game called Attack of the Fleas but it seemed a bit expensive so didnt buy it.
I had junior pictionary but it requires a bit of teaching and thing. is with board games pieces tend to go missing, i.e I no dice pencils or pads of paper or tokens in the box or that little timer lol

well good news in nz we have got cost of living payments for those earning under a certain. amount and we didnt have to apply. It wasnt $200 though but just over half of that.

Axis vs Allies, friend. It's like Risk, but with the accursed luck factor taken out of the equation. That many times in Risk I've lost with double or more the opponent's forces.
In Axis vs. Allies, even someone with the worst luck in the world (like me!) won't be defeated when he has overwhelming force!
I played chocolate scrabble with my dad...in chocolate scrabble, you only get 5 letters instead of seven and the board is smaller, but if you land on a double or triple word or letter tile you get to eat some chocolate.
My dad beat my score though.

I've played a lot of games, but Axis vs. Allies 1940 Europe and Pacific version is the greatest game I've ever played. You put the two boards together to make one massive board.Axis vs Allies, friend. It's like Risk, but with the accursed luck factor taken out of the equation. I think with "professional" gamers, they bid on who wants to go Axis (so Germany gets one or two extra troops or a tank in Africa). I never could get into it as much as I'd like, because as you say, one game can take ages. I have happy memories of the numerous times I overran a friend's hi-tech defences with tanks and fighters, by outnumbering them with humble infantry. He never seemed to learn.

It can still happen but it's much less likely. The problem is it's MUCH longer than Risk from my few times playing. It's also pretty different that 1 is the best roll lol. I could usually find partners for Risk in college but Axis & allies it was challenging.
It's also a pretty expensive buy because the basic sets that are sold are wayyy to small and you have to buy a deluxe version to really enjoy it. *my opinion ofc*
If you want to win as the Axis you have to win fast...if the game is protracted you will almost always lose. There can only be a minimal amount of caution because if you wait for the allies to build...you're doomed

So I need to find more online games that I might have a chance of winning because my guys is beating me at nearly everything lol
