Money lending is over. We need to rebuild our manufacturing base fast . Banks not prepared to lend money for this purpose because they don’t think it will last long . Plus, they’re all too long stocks getting high on their own supply. We need fiscal stimulus to subsidize domestic in industries now.

Update: “China will intervene militarily on the side of Russia anytime and anywhere if NATO officially enters the war against the Russian Federation! We believe that everyone will understand this principle!”

Are the EU going to back up their tough talk with boots on the ground?
Sounds suicidal to me.

So they used a special magic formula to calculate these reciprocal tariffs. :D

"it's an amazing coincidence that every single country's "tariff rate" is equal to trade deficit/imports."

Obviously you can't simply say they charge 20% on rice so we'll charge 20% on their rice. The things they import from us are different from the things we import from them.

Also you can't simply look at the "official" tariff because these countries also have fees and "VAT", etc.

I lived in Taiwan, they had a very low "official tax rate" but they also had a very real bribery rate which they called "hidden tax". Americans need to stop being chumps and suckers.

That said Trump's "tariffs" were obviously a declaration of war on China and their allies. One way that China gets around tariffs is by using other countries as well. Regardless of how much more things cost in the US the things we buy from other countries are, for the most part, not essential. Food, electricity and water are all local or at least can be. But for China this is catastrophic. Now it may be that the billions pledged for factories never materializes because the world goes to war. But if the world goes to war the US will make those billions by selling weapons.

Trump's announcement yesterday was a declaration of war, any fool can see that.

Tariffs are not the story!

Since Trump took office in Jan 2025, the 10-year yield has dropped from 4.79% to 4.17%. Look how much it’s dropped today!

That 0.62% drop may not sound like much—until you realize the U.S. has $36.5 trillion in debt.

This is stealth refinancing on a historic scale.

Lower yields = trillions in interest savings.
More breathing room. Less inflationary pressure.
And the market is front-running it.

Everyone’s watching tariffs.
But this yield curve shift?
It’s the real game.

Trump isn’t just cutting spending—
he’s restructuring America’s balance sheet in real time.

The yield has dropped, that is the good news, the bad news is that we don't simply have to roll over the $36.5 trillion but we are also competing with other countries like China and Japan who are selling our debt. The lower yield reflects the fact that they are dumping it. Who is buying other than the Fed? The only way the Fed buys our debt is by printing money, that means inflation is going up. There is no free lunch.

The good news is that China is not going to attack the US as long as they have billions in US debt they want back. The bad news is that China is dumping their US debt.

Also, no way China is going to attack the US when we are there biggest economic partner. The bad news is now that Trump has slapped these tariffs on China and China has responded by demanding no investment in the US we are no longer their biggest economic partner.

Fair enough, and I agree. I think we have known this all along.

I still think his rhetoric towards Canada was not honorable, considering we have helped fight your foreign wars, and a lot of it outright lies.

He signed the agreement in 2019 and auto industry is complicated and then people giving me red X's for the truth concerning the trade agreement and about the history of the industry just tells me how far gone some MAGA people really are, sorry but true.

I think there will continue to be ramifications for his bluster, time will tell.

Hold on a sec, you're upset because the current imperialistic empire who is causing suffering in the world by doing proxy wars is not giving you enough credit for helping in proxy wars where you've added to the suffering?

Proverbs 12:22:
"The Lord detests lying lips, but he delights in people who are trustworthy."

Proverbs 14:25:
"A truthful witness saves lives, but one who breathes out lies is deceitful."

Psalm 58:3:
"The wicked are estranged from the womb; they go astray from birth, speaking lies."

Oh, we're doing the Verse vs Verse thing now?
Okay.

Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God, for many false prophets have gone out into the world.

Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things. What you have learned and received and heard and seen in me—practice these things, and the God of peace will be with you.

We are afflicted in every way, but not crushed; perplexed, but not driven to despair.

Beloved, never avenge yourselves, but leave it to the wrath of God, for it is written, “Vengeance is mine, I will repay, says the Lord.”

This would be a good time to pause and reflect on the contribution that Canada has made to building the monument to human empire that will culminate in the Antichrist kingdom. Let history note that the USA could not have done this without the help of Canada.

Do we have to keep beating up on the Biden administration, Fauci, Kamala, Hillary, and Barak Obama, I feel like this is simply beating a dead horse.

But it does make a nice contrast to Trump who told us flat out he doesn't care about the stock market and that we were about to experience a lot of pain and also that if Iran and Russia do not make peace the gates of hell will be opened. You wonder why no one ever believes what he says.

So Mussolini was honest on somethings as well.

One of my favorite quotes from the Xfiles, because I see it happening in real life (media, etc)...

"A lie, Mr. Mulder, is most convincingly hidden between two truths."
Thank you Carrie. :)

This was back in the 90s when people had a sense of finesse, style and decorum.
Now people are like "I identify as a horse and i need you to call me as one".
