It's like when my wifey goes shopping and she buys $1000 of clothes. If it was on sale-- she talks about how much money she "saved."
Of course, she didn't save any money at all-- she spent money.
She would argue that the money she didn't spend "was saved." Is she right?
This is the DOGE argument. If she had spent no money at all and just come home empty handed-- then would she have saved money?
It's a real question for someone with real economics expertise like yourself.
