Bad experience due to lies

Hi Evelien, welcome to the forum!
A long time ago, I had a high school friend who got into working as a print model for local ads.
Part of the reason she got out of it is because she said she hated all of things you're describing -- which seems to be an ingrained part of the business one has to get used to, along with all the criticisms. She said she would walk into a room of people and they would immediately say what they hated about her face, hair, and body.
I know I for one could never survive that kind of atmosphere and I pray you have a better experience, and/or are able to be able to learn to let all the riff raff roll off your back.
As for dealing with lies, @GRACE_ambassador gave some wonderful points, so I don't want to repeat his excellent advice. I have a very hard time when someone lies to me as well.
One thing I've learned to do, though it's taken a very long time, is to cut my inner circle down to only those I truly trust and am close with. If any of these people lied to me, I know it wouldn't be intentional or they'd think they were protecting me, and if I found out, I know we'd be able to hash it out. Everyone else, I just nod and see what happens.
It seems almost normal these days, especially in workplaces, that people are often hot air. Even if they do mean what they promise, they might not have the power to bring it to pass. I don't usually take people at their word unless there is a concrete follow-up, so lowering and adjusting my expectations has also helped a lot.
It has helped me not to take lies as personally, because in all honesty, I'm not expecting them to follow through and always try to have a back-up plan if possible.

Combat lies with what God says about you. He made you in His spiritual image. He made the woman and out of all creation He said it was good but for the woman God said it was very good. God created you with such purpose and design that it was through a woman the Savior would be born.
As for people to talk to we'll the best place is the local church. Online has it's benefits but it is hard to know if the other person on the other end is legitimate. Are they living by God's Word, are they a good person, or are they a creep? At least in person that can be filtered out easier than online.

Forgive me if you've already done this, but it seems crucial that you might want to ask for guidance from a trusted pastor and spiritual mentor to pray with you and help you seek God's will in this matter.
It could be that maybe God is trying to tell you that He wants you to pursue a different path than modeling.

Jesus is ALWAYS the top choice to talk to. contracts are usually the "concrete" word on agreements. were there any? check with Jesus to see if he approves of your attempt to be a model. certainly modeling is 1 of the top fields to check on reputation & history. He may have another plan for you. are you born again? if not, sincerely immediately consider this. i hope your dream comes true! praying for you.

You've chosen a profession where being lied to is part of trying to break into it. You can't separate the two. If you're struggling with that this much perhaps your skin isn't thick enough to handle the business.
Consider you're picking a field where 100% of your value is based in sex appeal. Consider what kind of existence you'll be living in. How you'll be treated, in that role.
Ultimately you'll just end up Photoshopped into something that doesn't even look like a real human.
Mental illness is quite common in the modeling industry. Depression, anxiety and eating disorders. Not to mention drug addiction.
If you can't cope with the couple people in the room criticizing your looks, how will you handle it becoming more popular and getting criticized on a much larger scale? Increased popularity equals increased criticism, and meaner criticism.
And the worst, yet least talked about, concern for striving models. The porn and sex trafficking industry.
From what I've gathered the way it works for breaking into modeling is a free for all. There's no verifying credible businesses. There's lots of new and small businesses that may seek models and you have no way of knowing how legit they are.
The internet is filled with videos of young women wanting to be models that end up in a porn. Porn makers know there's tons of girls out there eager to do modeling jobs, so they hire them to do so modeling, or so they're told. Once they arrive they're typically drugged, and black mailed or intimidated into making the porn.
Essentially what it comes down to is rape. They are then forced to go on camera and state they performed the sex acts willingly.
They typically don't report it due to various threats leveled against them. It could range from sending a copy of the video to partents, family and friends to violence against the same people.
And that's assuming you aren't straight out kidnapped and sold into the sex slave market.
Modeling is a dark industry. And a dangerous one to try to break into. It's full of mentally ill drug addicts, who became that way trying to cope with the demands put on them as models as nothing more than sex objects. And these are the success stories. Not to mention the countless more that get beat up by the industry and never succeed.
It's your call if that is what you want to do, but you should first be aware of what you're getting into, and what you can expect before deciding to.

- And at worst, you aren't even a product, you're just the "customer" of an agency which lies and sells you expensive photoshoots while making promises they never intend to keep.
- Whatever has happened, you aren't the first... it's just a bad place.
- Most modeling agencies aren't even reputable, but even with the reputable ones, you're merely a product, not a person.
I suggest you get involved in a local church, and get some counseling... find some people you can trust.
It's probably best for you to find some older women to talk to.
A local church is best, but you can find some wise women right here, that would be glad to talk to you.
Some counseling from older Christian women, who know the scripture, and who've been around... it will really help you sort through everything.

I'd look around for a mentor, someone who knows the business and who isn't out to use you for something. Maybe there's a school in your area that offers modeling classes. You really need someone who's been there and can advise you. Maybe you could find a modeling forum; you could probably get some good advice from people. There are good modeling jobs where you wouldn't have to sell your soul, you just need to know how to avoid the sleazebags.
people lie to you to use you. Plain and simple. They will promise you the sky but they will hardly give you anything. This world is out there to use you. You will find very rarely that people are true and genuine. And when you find those people, don't let go. I'd say, hold on to God. God will give you the right people in life. God bless
